Travis et al,

I found out that you have to host your own domain to use this cool tool. I am using Typepad for my Internet Real Estate, and this tool won't work with it.

I am going to keep promoting it though,as I feel it is the best list building tool around.

{I write about franchising on the OPEN site, and never even watched Seth's answer to the Social Marketing question. question.

I'd like to respond to Keith's comment, up above.

Keith, Seth is right. Hanging out on Twitter, Facebook and the other Soc. Networking sites can be a huge waste of valuable business time. Sometimes, it does turn into a "I have more FB friends than you," or, "I am getting close to 2,000 followers-WOW!" kind of stuff. And?

We all like to feel that we are doing something constructive as we sit in front of our computer monitors "interacting" with others online.

The real question is whether or not we can connect with enough people who we can start a mutually beneficial relationship with. Even though Chris Brogans philosophy of giving and you shall receive sounds warm and fuzzy, and quite frankly IS warm and fuzzy, at the end of our crazed online days, unless we have something to show for all of this Social Networking stuff we are doing, then it IS a huge waste of time.

Interacting just to interact is an exercise in futility.

Seth is right on the money. What are we doing with our connections?

Because of things like Twitter, there are several people that I could call, and tell them that I will be in town, and need a place to crash, and their answer would be, "no problem, Joel. c'mon over." {I think!}

Thanx to Twitter, I get to read one of your beautiful stories whenever you find the time to write them. I, too had a toad. His name was Ernestine. She name, He Toad. Anyway, thanx for the memories. In June of last year, My dad succumbed to Lung cancer. I guess I am lucky. he passed on when I was 48, so i got more of him.

Beautifully done, as usual. My 13 year old girl is a positive force, too. {And a force to be reckoned with, I reckon}

She DVR's everything, sucking the available taping hours through the remote like snow through a solar powered snow blower.

I used to get home after school, get a snack, curl under a blanket, and turn Lost In Space on.

Dr. Smith was suck an idiot.

Whenever it IS on nowadays, I last about 2-3 minutes, as my tolerance for him is light years from my psyche.

The Brady's were pretty good, but I never got along with blonde's.

I am so happy that I magically found your article today, on Christmas Eve.
For me, the rituals are quite different, though. I am Jewish.

I grew up in a pretty Italian area, so I did see my share of X-mas trees.

Of course, since I married a nice Italian girl, we have had a X-Mas tree in our house for every one of the 16 years of our marriage.

Like your late father, my memories of our trees past have consisted of a lot of "damn it! This stupid tree box is once again falling apart."

Am I glad I read your latest life-post! I actually played a little tennis as a kid, and was pretty good. It is in my genes.

My late father was half of the #2 ranked doubles team in Ohio High School Athletics, back in the mid 50's.

I can still remember my 12 year old skinny self attempting to return his 75+mph serve. Not.

Our daughter is trying to talk us into getting the Wii. As of last week, the entire city of Cleveland was sold out. We will just have to see.

Great job. You ALWAYS bring back childhood memories in your posts. Thank you.

Hi,
The top 10 list from Entrepreneur Magazine is usually filled with food franchises. Food franchises are the most visible, and are also what most folks think of when they think of the word franchise.

Sonic is expensive, because of the build out costs. A Sonic not only has the drive-up areas, but the building itself is a free standing one, which is a lot more expensive than leasing a space in a typical strip center, like a lot of Subway franchise owners do.
