Hey Jason, did u finally resolve the registry error prompt when launching Illustrator? Im having the same problem!

Jason My permissions on HKCR ended up being the problem. Somehow, they had been changed. I found it out when another program was having a problem. I was having trouble reinstalling adobe air.

You might try this suggestion: http://theosmblog.com/2008/12/05/how-to-fix-per... (tinyurl: http://tinyurl.com/6v8lth ) and see if that does the trick. Once I tried it, it created a whole new group of problems, though. My registry was seriously borked. I ended up doing a fresh install of windows.
