Have you ever done any kind of mission work in a third world country? It's amazing that the people that have the least stuff usually have the most happiness and contentment. It's a bit of a wake-up call. So, I agree with you. As long as you have the things that matter, then it will be ok.

First of all, I think the comment was completely appropriate. Obama thought he was off-the-record, and he was simply speaking his mind. Was it right for someone to record it? Not sure. Was it right for someone to POST it on the internet? I would lean towards no, but at the same time, there is a big part of me that LOVED listening to it. It is good to hear the president sound like a regular guy and not so presidential...

Well, Tumblr is a pretty awesome way to blog, so maybe comments are not such a bad thing. Tumblr's Dashboard is pretty awesome, so maybe the addition of comments would make it possible to be someone's full-time blog.

10.5.6 completely brought my Macbook to its knees. I installed it, then after reboot, it would not get past the blue screen. I had to connect it to another Mac in Target Disk Mode and delete a few files to get it to work. What a pain in the rear.

I leave them sometimes just to offer some kind of inspiration. I subscribed to certain "tags" on Wordpress, for example, the tag "heartbreak". So whenever anyone with a WP blog makes a post with that tag, it populates in my feed reader. Then I can read about what people are dealing with and offer some kind of hope. Most blogs where people post that kind of stuff never get comments, so the random unexpected comment can mean a lot sometimes.

Plus, it gets other people reading your blog!

I've done the ol' "quarter as a guitar pick" when needed. It actually makes a cool sound.

Other things include my guitar case which used to be held together with duct tape. Also, I put a screw into the side of my dresser at home, and now I can hang my belts on it.

17 weeks ago, I started doing this RagamuffinTop Challenge. I was pushing 300 lbs, and I was so unhappy with myself and my weight. I set a goal of 10% of my body weight as an initial goal. This past Saturday, I reached and passed that goal. During the process, I have learned to eat better. I have really gotten into jogging. Heck, I even ran a 5k. I have lost 34 pounds so far, but more importantly, I got my life back. So thanks, brother, for inspiring all of us and making that possible. You just might have saved a life.

I understand what you are saying, and I agree. It's one of those things where I really am not bitter (despite how it sounds!), I just question a lot of things. Even at work, I question why we do certain things. But thinks for the advice there, I agree that the best solution is to go with the flow and make sure I am glorifying God in what I do. Thanks!

I agree. I sold all my hd-dvd's about 6 months ago because 1) I needed the money, and 2) it is still so expensive, especially now that BR is the only option. So for now, I could care less. I will stick with my regular dvd's until BR is more affordable.

@Steve - I agree to an extent. For example, I think anything over 44oz really is overkill. Chances are it won't fit into the cup holder.

@jofusthaniel - Good call on the LF. I tend to drink a lot of whatever beverage I have, and am usually done before it melts. That is not a factor too often, but it certainly has been in the past, so I know exactly what you are talking about. And as far as Chick Fil A goes, I am really sorry to hear that.

Yeah, I have noticed that sometimes, iTunes will have a DRM'd song (or album), and Amazon will have the same music without the DRM. That is a no-brainer to me. It seems that if Amazon can offer it with no DRM, iTunes should be able to as well.

@patrickwitherow - The 160 GB model that I have is something like $339. $239 gets you the 40GB model. Yeah, you hook it up to the tv, connect it to your wireless network, and then iTunes on your pc/mac will see it and sync it much like an iPod. You can rent movies straight from it in standard definition OR High Def (in some cases). And for movies you have ripped to your computer, it will stream all of those from your computer OR you can sync them to it.

@Jason - I can't handle divx, but it CAN handle mp4 (h.264 and regular). I just convert all my movies to that format and they work fine. If you are using a mac, you can batch-convert with a free program called iSquint.

@Martin - I have a 360 too, and I enjoyed it's marketplace and streaming abilities as well, and used it quite a bit. After using both, however, the Apple TV streams a LOT faster (at least in my house), and the visual layout of the rentals and all other menus is just wonderful. But then again, it doesn't play video games...

1- regular DVDs are at most 480p, so if you rip them at that, you have a perfect copy of it at roughly a third of the size of a .VOB file. As far as Blu Ray, you would have to continue to play those off of the player. They are possible to rip, but I have no idea how. But for regular DVDs, an .mp4 file with H.264 compression will give you a beautiful copy of the movie with no signs of compression if done right (say, 2500kbps). And yes, the max resolution on an AppleTV is 720p, but a regular DVD upconverted to 720p or 1080i look exactly the same.

2 - True, it doesn't recognize .vob files, but again, when ripped as an .mp4, it won't need to read them. .mp4 saves you hard drive space and streams a LOT better than a giant .vob file.

The ability to play my movies is half of the equation. The other half is the iTunes integration with buying/renting movies without have to go anywhere. That rules!

I do feel better, both physically and mentally. Knowing that I have needed to do this for a long time and finally am is a boost to the ol' self esteem.

As far as snacking and stuff, I usually indulge in Fiber One bars. Those things are so good, and taste almost like a candy bar. Drink-wise, I'm really into unsweet tea with Splenda in it. And, Diet Mtn Dew isn't THAT bad!

Did you know that the Apple Mail program has a feature that will send a "bounce back" email to someone so they will think your address is not valid? You know, one of those "invalid recipient" ones. Normally, the sender will then take you off your list. Pretty cool!

I agree with you. I admit it, I downloaded the first season of Alias from The Pirate Bay, and I liked it so much, I went out and bought all 5 seasons on DVD. Now you have companies, such as ABC, that will let you watch full episodes on their website in HD. Sure, there are a few 30 second ads, but it still is a great model.

I think these companies need to embrace the digital side of it and instead of suing people for it, learn how to leverage it to their advantage.

As a musician, I think I would want the people to hear my music, even if they can't afford it right now. I would certainly want to get paid at some point, but if it comes down to a free cd or someone never hearing my music, I would choose to let you get it for free.

Scottie- Let me give you a little insight as to the bluejeans 2 feet from the hamper. You see, when we dude take off our lower-half clothes, we do something I call the "drop n' kick". We drop it around our ankles, remove 1 foot, then kick the jeans/shorts/whatever toward the hamper. We might miss, and usually do, but it's almost like trying to make a basket. When we miss, we don't go get it, we just move on.

It was much more packed than usual. First of all, it was midnight, and secondly, I had to wait in that line of cars for 30 minutes just to get some gas. That line was specifically for the gas station!

The reason is because at least in the part of Atlanta I live in, almost every gas station is completely dry of gas. Every now and then a station will get some of the cheap gas, and everyone flocks there. People are actually running out of gas waiting in line.

Here is a map of a lot of gas stations in Atlanta. Notice how clicking on almost all of them says that they are out of gas!

I know that some DVR's have the option to start the recording a few minutes early and end a few minutes late if you want. I would hate it when my recording would cut of right before the "next week on LOST" clip.

One time, I saw a couple that were same side sitters. The gross part was that the guy chewed up his food and then spit it into the mouth of the girl. She proceeded to finish chewing, then swallow it. They did that a few times, and it left me wondering how anyone could do that. She could clearly eat on her own, and they were not birds.

Yeah, I bet in a position like that, you hear a lot of stupid questions. I am not the IT guy here, but people still come to me with IT questions since I know more than almost everyone else about computers. I just have such a low tolerance for dumb people!
