As soon as an email pops into my box with the opening line "I just got off the phone to my good buddy (insert name of guru here) and..." my next move is a subscription cancellation.

And the headache is compounded when a new seller of good unique content comes onto the scene. You buy their product, which is great but then...

They start to hammer you with all the other blokes stuff now that you are on their list. So in my view they have just devalued themselves and me by demeaning the relationship.

I tend to start feeling used at this point, and treat all communications from the new guy with suspicion, and am less inclined to buy anything else he may have to sell even if it is uniquely his. A lose-lose situation.

Anyone else feel like this or am I unique?

This model is the reason why everyone is leaving their TV set off and doing other things. They tried to ban home video recording here because advertisers were panicking that nobody would see their ads.

LOL of course not, their ads suck anyway ...

You get ads in Pay TV too, which is why I don't have it ...

I for one will click off a video on the net if it shows me ads in the screen space - I don't mind the model that shows a scrolling text in the player itself - they have to find some way to pay for the bandwidth.

But what will happen is the smart marketers won't want their audience bombarded and will use hosts that don't do in your face advertising.

And how is Google going to justify advertising cost when it is so untargeted ...

Page views per user are 18.

So it seems to work for them.

Wouldn't you call Microsofts home page an intro page?
