in What’s happened with the Big Linden Recruit? on The Metaverse Journal
Hello! While each individual is unique, "two people" isn't a representative sample out of hundreds and hundreds! Some others you didn't ask — alas! — did indeed receive replies.
I'll fill you in on some details of the reality... YES we've been actively recruiting...
Have you met our new Lindens? Like Neo (Liaison), Yoz (Tools & Web Program Manager), Siobhan (Data Warehousing), and shame on me for not knowing offhand who else has joined us.
I've personally been helping interview Technical Writer&Editors, so yeah, definitely some responses there.
WHAT ELSE?
Oh, Jeska, Doug, and Ian travelled all the way up to Canada to recruit! You can even find pictures here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeskalinden/358786...
They received a wealth of resumes and again, we'll be contacting back on an as-appropriate basis.
beez Linden also shared her firsthand experiences with me re: Web and Ops positions, and the following certainly needs to be communicated —
If someone hasn't heard back, it may be because:
(1) They don't qualify for the job, in one or more ways. This could be because they don't meet the required spectrum of technical or knowledge skills we're looking for, and/or they're not a good, well-rounded, cultural Linden fit. The Tao of Linden explains our company principles: http://blog.secondlife.com/2006/07/25/the-tao-o...
(2) Nora Linden openly blogged last month that we're unable to reply to all: http://blog.secondlife.com/2006/12/13/a-word-fr...
It may not be easy to hear "no", or not hear back at all, but since fruitful employment is often a longterm committment and an adventure, we like to ensure it'll be a good pairing between both a new potential Linden and the existing Linden family which makes up our company, Linden Lab.
I hope this clarifies some details. T'care! :D

in Rules and rulebreaking in Second Life on Scobleizer
If I could count the number of times a Resi hath asked me if Linden Lab could establish a moonbase (or in one instance, somehow fold ourselves recursively so SL became the predominant reality) and be free of Earthly laws... ah. :)
That's one thing that pulls some people back.
I can't wait *fantasizes* until Second Life open sources and people can run their own grid at home--would be nice to see what some micronations do with that.

Whoa that is YUGE! (As Donald Trump might say.) I've never seen something like that for myself in person... it looks regal enough to be on the bridge of the Enterprise!

in Cool blog about 3D virtual worlds on Scobleizer
I first became familiar with Mark Wallace as Walker Spaight in Second Life, after he did this great article (and this was way back, o my):
http://www.dragonscoveherald.com/blog/index.php...
What I like about his blog is how when I resize it really wide, the middle part stays a fixed-width and there's gray borders and the content just fits perfectly. I also like his usage of SLurls (SLurl.com for more info) to get a better feel for context of what SL's map looks like if ya've never been in there before. And how he updates them, like right now it's COME CHECK OUT THE HOBO VILLAGE! I enthuse. ;)
Also really unique is how he does his advertisement column and then the one further on the right--instead of having flanks, as I've often seen. That's pretty special design which helps make the entries readable. =]

in Blog break time on Scobleizer
Take care of yaself, Mr. Scoble... I'm a relatively new reader to your blog but I've been enjoying it. I've been thinking of blogging, and breaks too. Here's all the best to family time--something that seems to sadly get neglected in the busybody era of today.

OMG, Home Depoz owned by Mash Mandala and Baccara Rhodes?!? Your son was shopping there? Have you met the couple yet? They are lovely. I once bought a toilet from them, made it neon green and hot pink, rode it through the air like a porcelain balloon. Ahhh what charms.
Conversations like this are endearing: did flying wow your son too? :)
