in Read this before you register anywhere on Dave Delaney : Dave Made That
Hi Dave,
I use 1Password for some insane password remembering. Also, I have been stopped by the application to accidentally use my password on fishing sites.
As far as security answers go, I was always wondering about those questions. Shouldn't it be fairly easy for a criminal to find out what my Dad's middle name is? Or my first pets name (by the way, I never had any pets, but I still have an answer :-) ).
I have to check all my personal data again. Facebook just lets you change your DOB. Whenever I do list the "wrong" answers I collect all the answers in 1Password, because I would never be able to remember everything.
Oh, I also use lots of fake emails (guerilla mail) and emails that I set up specifically for junk (and registering). Every now and then I abandon them, so that the spammers cannot actually get info this way either.
I wonder though, how easy is it that 1Password can be compromised? I'm not sure if I'm specifically safe or unsafe. To this day I have not had any issues (I bet, just because I'm posting this here I will get in trouble now :-) ).
Cheers, Hans

in Is Your Community For Sale on Chris Brogan
Hi Chris,
this is quite interesting. I'm not offended, we are all trying to make a living and toying around with such things just takes a little bit of courage (but careful, you can burn yourself...), but maybe that's also because I was (yes, WAS) not following him and therefor have no emotional attachment to that twitter account. To me it's exactly as you have said, it's like a telephone number that the wrong person is picking up.
I'll definitely be following this (let's not forget that Andrew studied philosophy, maybe this is a little study for him :-) ).
Cheers, Hans

in Scoble’s Secret to Twitter - I call it ‘flow’ on Sol Young's Disqus
I think the amount of flow that you have shows, the amount of ineffectivity with which you work. You are so scatterbrained with so much information (it is like the old chatrooms, with hundreds of conversations all intertwined, but you never actually got out of it). At least that is how it is with me. I think a more intelligent and efficient being stays away from twitter (or at least limits it to very short amounts during the day).
That is just my take on it, Cheers

Agreed - the flow has to be maintained and focused. The people's comments I subscribe to need to be in line with my interests and not completely random topics.
I'm using it as a way of hearing the aggregate voice. I'm presently turning up the volume and considering how to properly filter.
It's not something to pay attention to constantly - more of a window to keep off in a corner and peek at from time to time (it has to be managed). Within 10 seconds I can get a feel for where the web's heads are (and chime in).

Wow Zoe, really good post. You are right, I chose my education and although I was fresh of the boat here in Canada (and I mean fresh, I arrived here and I went to school a week later) when I started going to a little private college. My first semester I was kind of insecure, but I studied hard until I realized I'm actually quite good at this. I ended up being the valedictorian and I think the reason was that I chose that education and I really wanted to do well.
Back to the add campaign though, it is indeed really good and I'm also kind of glad that is was used fro something good, not just the next cellphone. The college must really have been hurting to all get together and really pull this off well.
Cheers, Hans

in A piece of my history is destroyed on Dave Delaney : Dave Made That
That sucks, Suspect Video is where I used to go when I lived at Queen and Bathurst... and for me, being a sound guy and hifi fanatic, I'm sad about all the nice equipment lost at National Sound. The poor old owner, he was always just soldering on some parts, lonely in the store... I guess both stores will not be there anymore after this fire. They will be missed!

It's actually done really well. I like it a lot, it really sums it up! I specifically like that you set the boundaries for twitter - the unwritten twitter etiquette.
I was trying to find the search function that you were explaining. (where you were explaining how to look for tweets that are addressed to you, but your name might have been missspelled) Couldnt find it!
Cheers, Hans

don't trust me Hans? (kidding!).
Thanks.
