Best of luck - going self-hosted with wordpress is a good idea - if you ever need any help, feel free to ask!

in Part II - White Zin: Guilty Pleasure or Virtuous Vice on Another Wine Blog
I'm not a huge fan of white zin. It does seem to be coming back into vogue, though, but is it really wine? It ain't a classic varietal, of course, but at one time or another, nothing was!

jpower Hi Wine Bloke, I hadn't noticed that white zin was making a comeback. Have you tried any of it? Are they making if more like a good rose, or is it still just a sweetened plonk byproduct?

I am secure enough in my manhood to drink pink wine, but white zin is just hard to order, you know? On the other hand, there is absolutely no reason that good rose can't be made from Zinfandel.

Importantly, though, do you guys actually moderate comments - there's some, erm, off topic stuff above (definition: total spam).

Yes that is indeed a glowing review! Well done to all involved for getting this put together so well.

in Why I Don’t Play WOW (or other MMOs) on Inelegant Solutions
This is an article I was going to write but don't have to! Great work. I don't have time to play games at all any more - I borrowed one for a weekend a few weeks ago and played for precisely fifteen minutes before getting called away to do some server maintenence...

WOW is well out of range - and has a business model comparable to that gym membership I'll soon be handing back because I don't have time to go!

Jonathan Bailey The gym membership comparison is a very good one. I like that. I have to wonder how many of the 11 million subscribers sign in every month. I would doubt many. I'd wager, like you, most are paying for the membership out of habit or to preserve their characters if they decide to get back into it later. After all, their own numbers only count those who are paying the bills on time.

I think you should write your article. I'd love to read it. Your experience with the game sounds pretty much how I envision mine going. Fifteen minutes to maybe an hour of play before something else comes up.

At least Newgrounds doesn't charge me a monthly fee...

in Thursday at Noon is the best time post and be noticed (PST) on Third Rail
I'm not sure the time of posting makes one iota of difference. The time it lands in Digg or Reddit or whatever may be more important, though. For example, if your post hits the digg "upcoming" list (i.e. is first dugg) at prime web time, then it stands more of a chance of finding readers from that source than at a less busy period. Therefore, I fail to see why any particular time can be considered 'the best time to post.'

I'm a little tired of everyone in the online media world telling everyone else "how its done". Just do it yourself, and shut up, why do you need to tell everyone else how to operate?
