You can youtube LeBron getting dunked by Courtney Lee in the playoffs, he has to know that, so I just don't get why he would care about this being on the internet. I guess we will never know though

A failed NBA coach? No thank you. Why do I have this big feeling that IU is going to fuck up this coaching search. Is it because they have not shown the ability to hire good coaches that don't cheat (Mike Davis, Kelvin Sampson, fucking Bill Lynch)? yea, that is possible. Fucking Greenspan. Idiot.

so what you're saying is...HE'S KYLE TABER...with a jumpshot. If Kyle Taber would shoot more, he would be EXACTLY what you described in your original post..."tough nosed player"...."dirty work"...."knows how to be a role player"

in Pritchard focused on state championship on Inside the Hall
Anytime news about an IU recruit is in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, you can be rest assured that I will be all over it.
I think Pritchard will be a very good player for Indiana starting next year. St. Eds is a top program in Ohio and they play top competition from all over the state. He has improved every year in high school and he knows how to be a role player. He has spent 4 years playing as Delvon Roe's wingmate, and if you don't know Delvon Roe he is going to terrorize IU at Michigan St for a couple of years before bolting to the NBA. with Roe hurt this season though, Pritchard came up big. He can shoot the mid range shot (he has hit a couple 3's even this year) and work the boards. I am not sure about his defense but most freshman are not that great on defense anyways. he is a tough nosed player that will put up numbers and he is the type of player top programs need to win, that is a 4 year player that does the dirty work

He is not a one and done. Just because he is 5 stars and ranked highly does not mean he is one and done. Next years freshman class is not all that great, especially compared to this years. There won't be too many freshman next year declaring for the draft

in Report: Spurs hire Sampson as an adviser on Inside the Hall
This is not really surprising in the slightest to me. Last I checked, you can call people all you want in the NBA. The Spurs have a lot of good character people in their organization, but the rules Sampson broke were more a reflection of stupidity as opposed to being a bad person, and there are people with jobs in the NBA who have done way worse things then Sampson (cough, Isiah Thomas, cough cough). And besides, he will be hard pressed to get a job in the ncaa ever again, might as well at least try to do what you can to get an NBA gig (not that I think he will ever be a head coach in the NBA)

I guess we could say that this was the best game so far under Dakich's rule...although...I guess that doesn't make me feel any better about it. this sucks, this team really needs to turn its shit around

That kind of pisses me off that Big Ten network doesn't have the video of the whole senior night. This is the very first one that I have not been able to watch since I can remember. On a side note, just watching the game, why doesn't Gordon shoot that runner in the lane more ofter? For the life of me I will never understand this kid and the way he plays ball.

I would have liked to see this team win at least a share of the Big Ten. O well though
And I think it is important to note that Eric Gordon had another good game against MSU. If we see them again in the Big Ten tourny, without the emotions of senior day and without the sickest shooting performance of the year, I like our chances. They can't guard Eric, and they can't shoot like that again. they just can't

Plus, the Big Ten tourney is in Indianapolis. Michigan State has been abyssmal away from the Breslin Center this year. Having an effective home crowd for the game, Indiana should look more like the team that won by 19 rather than lost by 30.

I actually wouldn't mind having Worldwide Wes hanging around IU, if it meant we get players like Derrick Rose. My only problem with Calipari is that I don't know if he recruits the kinds of kids that win national titles. good teams always, yes, but he never has had a good free throw shooting team, and usually does not have a team that shoots the 3 very well. those are things that can lose you ball games to teams you are better than, and that is why you have never seen him cut down the nets. but, we could do much much worse

Are they really that good of a team, or are they just an above-mediocre team playing in a crap league? That's the questions you have to ask. UMass was a stand-alone in the A-10. He failed utterly in the NBA (which is not unexpected) and now he's at Memphis, where Conference USA has a bunch of teams as threatening as wet kittens (with apologies to the kittens).
I'm not sold on Calipari. Plus, he's a slimeball.

in Big Ten title: Who ya got? on Inside the Hall
OSU should have beaten Wisconsin over the weekend, but they just could not make any shots down the stretch (actually, kind of like what just happened on tuesday). OSU will be playing for their tournament lives against Purdue, so that game is going to be tight. Also, if OSU actually shoots the ball well, especially if Diebler shoots the ball well, they can compete with anyone. See North Carolina and Tennessee. Good shooting games against way better teams, so they lost tight games.
Also, MSU is not as bad on the road as everyone says they are. They played some tough road games during the non-conference part of the season and did well. they are just not playing their best basketball right now. that can all change in one game though
for IU, i'd be happy for even just a share of the big ten title. top of the big ten is though this year, and its been too long since IU has been here

in Devin Ebanks to Memphis? on Inside the Hall
hurts in the short run, perhaps, but not in the long run. he is not a program savior. he probably is not even one and done. not all 5 star recruits leave after one year. only the best (or the stupid). he might be stupid, but he isn't the best. and i also don't think Calipari would leave Memphis, he has it too good down there. IU is obviously a good gig, but he has William Wesley (if you don't know who he is, go find out) telling great players like Dajuan Wagner and Derrick Rose to go to Memphis, and he probably wouldn't get that to come with him to IU. although maybe, what do I know

The fact that he may not be one and done is the exact reason we have to make every effort to keep him. He's a natural scorer that would help tremendously compensating for DJ/EJ's soon-to-be-gone 35+ per night. Some scouts say he's the best player in the country with the ball, and has a skillset that projects tremendously at the next level. The thought that we can take or leave a talent like Ebanks, especially with the current state of Hoosier basketball, is completely misguided.
The good news is he and his mother have stated he won't make any decisions until they speak with the new coach. That's just one more reason to perform an efficient search (unlike last time) and get the right HC in Bloomington as soon as possible.

in Devin Ebanks to Memphis? on Inside the Hall
If he doesn't want to play here, its his loss. I'd love for him to come to IU because I think he has a Rudy Gay type of ability, but he has a constant knack for getting into trouble. That is not something that will magically disappear when he gets to college, if anything it will become a bigger problem. And it is not like his talent is so great that he would save our program. Good, yes, but he is not even top 5 in his class, a class that is worse than this years. He won't make or break IU. Without him it will take the new coach, if he is good at what he does, a year to get this team back to the tournament, but that is it. Maybe not even that, if said new coach can turn Eli Holman into something useful. So if he doesn't want to come play for IU, fine, don't let the door hit you on the way out Devin

So without Ebanks were looking at a starting 5 of Armon, Jordan, Ellis, Thomas and Holman....with McGee, Pritchard, Taber and Roth on the bench....so how is losing him not going to hurt us? You have me confused. This is assuming that no one transfers from IU as well.
Rumors are also telling me that if Calipari was offered IU's job he would take it in a second. Then we would keep Ebanks and maybe Tyreke Evans, interesting....

I hope he at least meets with the new coach before making a decision. Who knows? It might even be a better fit now. If not, we part ways and all move on. I think he'd be terrific at IU, though, and have an outstanding career here before he moves on to the NBA.

in The Morning After: Ohio State v.2.0 on Inside the Hall
Giving Dakich the job would be like West Virginia giving their football head coaching job to that guy who took over for the BCS game they were in when WVU proceeded to dominate Oklahoma. For the life of me I can't remember the guys name, but his previous coaching record was terrible, he just happened to take Rich Rodriguez's amazingly talented team and led them to a sound defeat of a good team. they could have gone out and gotten a pretty good coach, considering Pat White and Noel Devine were still going to be on the team. but they settled on the guy that was there because of one good game. If IU has a good tournament run, it is not proof that Dakich is a good coach. It is proof that Mike Davis and Kelvin Sampson brought in some good players. Keeping Dakich would turn IU into a mid level Big Ten school for the next 5 years. I bet Lavin is trying to cover up how bad he wants to coach here

so help me god if we get steve alford...or lawrence frank...or scott skiles. all of them are not good coaches, and i especially don't want failed nba coaches. how many good former nba coaches are there in college basketball? guys who started in college, failed in nba, and are back in college ala rick pitino don't count. besides, frank and skiles are just bad coaches. two guys they have to at least consider - sean miller from xavier and scott drew from baylor. miller is a great coach who can get xavier to be a good team every year, imagine what he will do at iu. he probably will be coaching a big school next year and not xavier. scott drew has that indiana blood that drives hoosiers crazy, and if he could turn around baylor, he can win anywhere. seriously, baylor was left for dead....ok bad joke. anyways, two good coaches right there, that aren't named alford, frank, or skiles

im now starting to wonder if im willing to see this team lose a chunk of credibility and get pounded by the media if it means iu goes deep in the tourny. since the osu game they have been playing their best ball of the season and are a bank 3 from butch from being a top 10 team, maybe higher. they are playing as well as anyone in the country right now, including memphis, tennessee and duke. all those teams are slipping up a little bit, but iu is punching its opponents in the mouth. iu can win out the regular season with sampson as coach. with dakish, who knows

What if "scenario 2" plays out (as reported by Forde for the world wide leader) and IU and Sampson come to an agreement where he resigns effective at the end of the season, is suspended for the Northwestern game. This would allow Indiana to go on with a coaching search, would allow the players to play with/for their coach, and brings some sense of stability to the remainder of the season.
Just a thought I'd been kicking around for a few days.

in “I think the majority would want him to stay” on Inside the Hall
iu would recieve a severe backlash if they kept sampson and the negative pr would be very tough for iu's players to handle. iu would get killed even more than they already have in the national media, and while that might not matter to some, it reflects badly upon the school and its administration. iu would lose a lot of credibility and it could really hurt the team in the long run

definitely going to see a lot of zone, because they will have 4 guys or more on the court at a time that can shoot from long range if left open, and especially if D is in we do not want our bigs out on the perimeter. i bet we play zone all game, this should help D stay out of foul trouble too. we can win, we just need to shoot at or above our season average from 3 and play good defense

haha if dak takes us to the final 4 he might get the job. how do you show a guy who just went to the final 4 the door? i dunno, but itd be fun to see greenspan do it

Coach Lynch came in with tons of head coaching experience. He led the Hoosiers to their first bowl game in 14 years. He took over for his best friend, who had instituted an amazing team culture before his death--doesn't that sound like a situation in which you'd want a stabilizing hire like an assistant/the late head coach's best friend?
I'll accept the MD and KS rant, but not Bill Lynch. And certainly not with an adjective in front of his name that has no place. He's much better than that.
