by the way, we need to take a trip to Berlin. i told a friend last night and apparently there's a place called Mission Dolores Taqueria or something along those lines that attempts to replicate the Mission burrito.

I couldn't agree more, Omid. The Mission burrito is something special in that it is irreplicable.

When it comes to ethnic street food in the US, the ONLY one worth mentioning anymore nowadays is the SF burrito. The pizza and hot dog have fallen victim to exploitation, mass production, and commercialization.

It's funny. As much as I miss phô in the Sunset and Burma Superstar in the Richmond, the Mexican is what I miss most, possibly due to the fact that there is nothing remotely like it anywhere else.

I will definitely try to hit up the places you mention. Thanks for the recs! I pour a little Jarritos out for my French homies.

i'd hardly call it a mistake. drm has been in existence as long as there
has been digital content and it's a way of minimizing piracy and legitimizing
distribution, something that eliminating DRM won't exactly resolve. frankly,
i don't share my music enough to care about un-DRMed music and I'm curious as
to why anyone would need un-DRMed music if not for the purposes of distributing
it to their friends.

I recently deleted my twitter account.

I found it was become saturated with crap, it lacked relevance, and there were
better options in the realm, focused more on location (BrightKite) and sharing
relevant content - media and otherwise (Facebook feed, Tumblr).

Wow. I kinda completely disagree (not with you, but with the book). Rarely do I enjoy a meal more than when I'm dining out alone. The true way to enjoy a meal is to completely immerse yourself in it and to personalize it, without all the social distractions. Preoccupation with social dining as the norm is a purely American mindset. I'm really curious about the book now. Thanks for the post.

i've seen crispin glover on a number of occasions. he is a weird weird guy. i'm actually fairly amazed he made it beyond an extra in Hollywood.

I'm just trying to figure out which of Oliver Stone's films could actually ever have been considered good (and PLEASE no one say Platoon, JFK because those are two of the most overrated films I've seen). Wall Street was entertaining at best but was so cheesy I wanted to blow my brains out. His scripts are garbage, lacking any semblance of good writing. They have no depth or decent dialogue and barely hit the threshold of realism (which I would deem critical in the subject matter he chooses to take up).

this is a disappointing list. you've taken every big star/big budget faux-independent Sundance film and called it out here in this list.

after having gone to the Sundance for the last few years, the quality is not in the Jim Carrey, Billy Bob Thornton, Winona Ryder films, it's in the 'below the radar' foreign films and documentaries with no name actors, and hardworking rookie directors who busted their ass and faced immeasurable competition to get into the festival.

every big star 'indie' Sundance film has been a massive disappointment over the last few years. the few that made it through (barely) are Waitress and The Wackness which in retrospect weren't really that good.

this would've been better as a low-budget indie film, shot in black and white, with no back story and anonymous no-name actors. that's how the story should be told.
