in What to Do if Your Name URL on Facebook is Gone - And Why You Don’t Want One on MarketingProfessor.com
SocialToo.com is helping people by giving them a URL that points to the Facebook profile - [name].socialtoo.com . You can get a free account there as well.

The advantage to our URLs (I'm SocialToo's CEO) is that we track analytics/clicks/etc along with the URLs, so it's a better solution to hand out to others.

in How Google’s ‘Secret’ Social Network Is Poised To Rule Them All on Jesse Newhart
I have been using Gmail almost since its beginning. I like the Themes and chat potential, but the Labs section worries me slightly. What if you pick one of those apps and Google decides to drop it? Then what?
Another problem I see is that by relying on Google and Gmail (and all their other apps), what do you do when Gmail drops dead, as it has a lot lately. I find that it is best not to rely only on one service to the extent that Google wants you to rely on them.

If you use Google's "Offline" option you can work with your emails/calendar offline and even if Google Calendar/Gmail is not working. See http://bit.ly/11SECA for details.
You can also use Google’s apps that includes hosting premium applications for $50 per user per year. This service is nearly never down.

in Building your twitter network on Jim's Marketing Blog
I have been using Twitter for over a year and find it incredibly useful. I do organic SEO, social media optimization, video tagging, ghost blogging, and am a cybrarian.

in Thinking About Trust Agents on Chris Brogan
I don't know if the term "agent" really works for everyone. Those at large companies, okay. But what about those of us acting for ourselves? I may be an agent for my company, but a lot of what I write reflects more on my personal brand as an SEO guru/cybrarian. Trust Guide would be more along these lines.

in 20 Twitter Tips to Make You a Better Twitter User on Jacob Morgan on Social Media, Technology, Marketing, and Life
Another few hints include don't use all capitals in your tweets, it looks like you are shouting; if you are looking for a specific occupation, use Twellow.com; and please do not push your products or services down people's throats.

in The Raw Power of StumbleUpon on Chris Brogan
Chris,
I totally agree with you about StumbleUpon. I have been using it since 2004. The traffic from SU is constant, unlike Digg where it is active for 24 hours and then ends.
But, there are good and bad ways of using it, as in any website. I have been picky as to which sites I Stumble, so my followers know that they can trust my choices.

in Using Ning for an established community site on JungleG
Excellent summary of the Ning platform. I am using it for a network of archaeologists and find that it meets my member's needs. The only problem I had was the Google ads tending to be about looting sites, so I turned them off.
