When I created the petition I aimed for a higher target for signatures and it will be open for a year, let's pray we won't need it by then.

This is a valuable line of inquiry. I too started out with a moniker, TaureanDevi. First because I was a Taurus second well Devi means Goddess in Hindi. It started out as egotistical and then surpassed it completely as I recognized the divinity within us all, myself included encapulsated so nicely with another Hindu Phrase Namaste.

As I began feeling more comfortable with my online identity I started using my own name. There are places where I go by Modern Muser from my website's name Modern Musings.

Enjoyed this post a bunch. The comments are so enriching as well.

I am admittedly new at political awareness but it is mind boggling to me how fickle progressives are.

I have lost my naivety and have promptly removed Kucinich from the pedestal I had him on but I will caucus only for Kucinich and if I am not able to achieve viability then I will be an undecided.

I will not go with Edwards who is talking very good now but his record has not conveniently escaped my decision making process.
Progressive causes will never be championed if we are not fully united, in word and deed. Kucinich made a mistake by asking his supporters to caucus for Obama but it is our decision whether or not to listen to him.

Are we looking for a leader or a messiah? Are we so hooked on convenience that we think working with leaders and candidates should be easy and if it proves too "hard" move on to the lesser evil?

We will ultimately receive the leader we collectively deserve.

The realpolitik that governs elections will never change if we allow ourselves to succumb to compromise. Every gain we have won has been due to a steadfast determination despite losses. I for one will not compromise my convictions. I was really beginning to believe that Progressive Democrats of America was a venue for me as DFA has let me down.

In the Primary we are supposed to chose the candidate who best represents our ideologies and policy stances to run in the general election not who is electable. We decide.

If the people lead, the leaders will follow. This cannot be done if we continue to compromise privately with our vote. Compromising publicly, preparing the argument for that compromise in hopes to persuade others to make that same compromise is most damaging.

Edwards, Clinton and Obama will never consider Dennis Kucinich for a cabinet position. They haven't shown any support of Kucinich's role in the primaries, none whatsoever.

If we compromise based on electability, or realpolitiks we will continue to fail in our pursuit to forward progressive issues.

Consider the Republicans, some can't understand how they continue to push their agenda. The answer is they don't compromise! They vote primarily with their Republican peers. They craft a message and push that same message through many voices and that message is then spread by the media and political pundits.

Edwards is NO Dennis Kucinich.

I refuse to compromise. I stand with truth.

You are wrong BrotherBill. The Republicans stole the elections of 2000 and 2004. Bush was not elected. Check blackbox voting.

I will not vote for the lesser evil [Edwards], no matter how much I am told that my vote isn't viable.

IT IS about the agenda not the candidate. I'm a delegate in Clark County, Nevada and I will be pushing for the agenda since Dennis is out.

We have to stay focused and vigil in 2009 if a Democrat is nominated just as much as we are with the Republicans and not be afraid to call em out when they step outta line. Strict party favoritism is more harmful than helpful.

Dennis Kucinich, Ralph Nader or Cynthia McKinney however would have given us a chance to at least relax.

Genocide no more!

You have harnessed your power potential by furthering education on the genocidal depopulation scheme in Darfur. The precedence must be set in stone, senseless murder is not tolerable at any scale.

I truly appreciate your including the action items. It has been proven in the past that these petitions do make a great deal of difference. If we do not use our voice. We will not be heard.

We were heard throughout the blogosphere during this campaign and I am so grateful to the hard work, effort and spirit of all participants. I am still collecting links from inspired readers who were compelled to add their voices.

Since I learned of the genocide in Darfur I have boycotted all products of the corporate sponsors, especially due to the response letters I received.

We cannot allow genocide to become normalized. If this is allowed to continue it is setting a precedence. It is becoming more and more obvious that the Darfur atrocities are a depopulation technique.

I learned that Sudan is the historic Nubia, a place of great grandeur and historical significance.

We will not allow the families of Darfur to be tortured.

Rape is funny? I just heard today the asinine "joke" of McCain. Any man who jokes about rape should serve a week in the prison system, where unfortunately many a man is forcefully raped. Bet they wouldn't joke so much anymore.

2,331 signatures have been so far collected on the Justice for LaVena Johnson petition.

At this rate we can hope to close the petition by the end of the week and promote promote promote the mighty and professional efforts of Color of Change. Their petition is available here.

I personally did not see the phrase or inclination of "the fifth of humanity that lives in China." any where referenced in this piece. Furthermore, what about the 1.5 million Chinese citizens who were forcefully removed from their homes for the Olympics. Don't they have rights.

You have a point with the American Administration who have a hell of a lot to answer to. As do the Chinese administration for Darfur, Tibet, workers rights, and so many more dehumanizing campaigns.

Orientalism, is no where found in this piece and the majority of pieces I have read regarding the Beijing Olympics, and the protest movements for Darfur and Tibet.

Rhetoric is a writing device utilizing this device with research and critical thinking skills is not a crime.

The U.S. says that they will protest the visa revocation, and I know it's not going to go anywhere. China owns a large amount of our debt and the administration knows that.

I hold a bit of a controversial stance when it comes to spanking my healthy, curious, adjusted three boys, I am a lioness physically correcting when their age and development hinders reasoning techniques.

When it comes to school however no one has a right to do my job. I know my children, I know their past behaviors, I know what limits they toy with. There is no way that a school can make the same decision as myself.

Children with disabilities shouldn't be hit at all. They lack measuring and deductive skills to alter their behavior in most cases. My middle son has a speech delay and didn't even speak until 2. This has caused him to display behavior problems because he cannot communicate his needs as well as others.

Raising children is the most important job a society has but the responsibility lies firmly with the family. No one has a right to overly interfere and physical correction has not place in the public arena.

If we are to allow genocide and any human rights abuse anywhere we are playing a part in setting the precedence that it is okay. That genocide is a swell way to depopulate an area with oil resources. That the value of life is counted in dollars and cents.

I was born and raised in Boston now in Vegas.

This is a great piece but is it "the settlers" that are recreating the image of New York's destruction.

I would imagine that those who are in the arts and are dedicated and move to New York add flavor to the city but then you have people out to suck it dry.

We still feel something when we see the World Trade Center in movies, I know I do. Why would an industry try to recreate destruction? It is hard for me not to smell a focused motive.
