in The risks and rewards of desalination on The New Mexico Independent
I agree with Mr. Frederick, the burden of proof should be on the potential exploiter of this previously unidentified water source. We have technology (proven), policy (tested) and common sense (questionable at times) that allows us to live within our means should we choose to do what is sustainable, not mine a resource that costs more to produce than the benefits gained.

Fairness and attention to long term planning are imperative elements of their considerations. Let's hope this will be included in their discussions.

in The big H2O transfer on The New Mexico Independent
While the OSE continues to play the shell game (where's the water now...) with our limited resource, we need to add our voices to those that share a common view of what is best for our children. Is what we are doing truly sustainable? I don't think so.

in Atrisco strikes brackish gold on The New Mexico Independent
Although the "discovery" of additional water in the region may come as a relief to some, it is not time that we truly rethink our greed for a non-renewable resource? Despite the fact that I work to improve access to water for many, it seems that we need to revisit the fact that our western lifestyle does not match our western limitations.

in Clean water under attack on The New Mexico Independent
Although Mr. Price does a good job of documenting hazards affecting our water quality, he left out what our State regulators are doing to protect our resources. It would be helpful for him to discuss what the Environment Dept. and its specific bureaus do to protect our water supplies.
