in chi.mp: Own Your Online Identity and Social Network Contacts on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
I had the same reaction to Chi.mp, it is so powerful the learning curve is a bit steep trying to uncover everything one can do with it. Hopefully that will get easier over time and they do some more user testing.

This was one of my favorite Daily Show clips in awhile. I like, "If you followed CNBC's advice over the past year you could have a MILLION dollars - provided you started with a HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS!"

in Stereotype dismantled at Prop 8 Protest in Asheville, NC on ...][ oh, how i try ][...
Of course these Christians aren't considered "real" Christians by most Orthodox, Southern Baptist, or Evangelical types. It reminds me of the time right after the last apostles died where you basically had Gnostic type Christians (with a focus on Jesus' teachings only, which meant women could be teachers, etc), and Judaizing Christians (applying Mosaic Law to grace) and the fight for which Christians were the "true" Christians. Back then the Judaizers essentially won by bridging the NT w/ the OT. Combine that with Emporer Constantine's great PR work and you have a bona fide fundamentalist revolution.

(Obviously grossly oversimplified so I don't write a book's worth of comments here.)

Who's gonna win out this time around? The insane fundies are beginning to become a drag on the Republicans, yet it's still their biggest voting block. I don't envy their position.

The good news is the margins of victories on these votes are getting smaller and smaller. I think Arnold Schwarzenegger gave the best response so far (about 2 minutes in)

in Total Immersion: How I Learned to Swim Effortlessly in 10 Days and You Can Too on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Hey Tim,

This is the same method (in principle) used in ChiRunning. The ChiRunning folks and Total Immersion folks are good friends and occasionally partner up on workshops too. So for those of you with the same fear of running that want a solution similar to Tim's swimming, check out ChiRunning.

I can't imagine you afraid of swimming, but I'll go with it ... :-)

Kind of like the Kindle. It does wireless for what it needs to do ... and does it really good. It would be cool if Flickr made a camera and offered the same kind of Wi-Fi abilities that a Kindle uses.

in What Every American Needs to Know (and Do) About FISA Before Wednesday Voting on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
To me it is very simple why Obama's current position has evolved on this. If a terrorist attack were to happen, it would be very good for the McCain campaign (both McCain and one of his top campaign people have acknowledged this) and it would be serious detriment to the Obama campaign. Obama's compromise for some oversight to this is a smart short term band-aid, and I have full confidence he will deep-six FISA if he becomes president.

@Andrew "[the possibility of a president] who is advocating for trillions of dollars in new taxes and entitlement programs"

I suggest you stick to FISA here and avoid the classic (outdated) liberal arguments, political jabs and unqualified statements.

Bravo. Pure linkbait. I loved it. All bulsh*t, but definitely a model of great linkbait.

in Cloud Computing IS the Future (Not the Web OS) on Sam Harrelson's Comment Forum
Ha. As I read the quote from Mashable I was hoping that was they way you were going with it. Cloud computing is the future for sure, and the coolest thing about it is that it won't matter where you access the cloud from. Sometimes I feel that some people are so eager to get Micro$oft to lose their grip on the OS they think the best way to do it is by creating a Web OS.

MS is already losing. There's no need for a Web OS.

Sam Harrelson Exactly, Don. The future isn't between Apple and Microsoft and Linux... it's between Google and whoever else can start making scalable, accessible and feature rich web apps.
