I didn't know that lala had switched models. Lately I've been using Blip.fm a lot for listening to, finding and sharing music.

I really enjoyed this film. I loved how it ended up being a story about friendship, narcissism and betrayal. But seeing his eccentric passion was a lot of fun and the feet was amazing. Can't wait to see your horse trick. :)

Adam Varga In conclusion, narcissistic Frenchmen who are past their physical prime make great storytellers.

Great post. Thanks for the mention, Devin. I'm going to bookmark this and send some people to check your explanation out. I also gave it a stumble.

I like the term you coined in there, "hatload."

in Make Your Blog Design Work For You on Chris Brogan
We just launched a brand new site for InternetBusinessMastery.com. Like you, We spent some time looking around and thoughtfully deciding how to make the user experience as meaningful as possible.

I like your tips here. We definitely have not done well with the "thin header" and it concerns me. I think I will revisit this.

The "About Page", however, I spent a lot if time on. I tried to really make it about telling a story (or really multiple stories). I also tried to make sure it started by speaking to what our ideal audience was looking for.

The photos of you that you use are great. Are these mostly taken by other people and given to you? I like that none of them look like the posed "author" photo. I need better photos to use, but I definitely don't want the cliche.

in GetFriday and the Cost of Success: Exclusive Letter from the CEO on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
Outsourcing has become an integral part of the way I operate in my life and business. There's just too much to do in life to spend time doing menial things that I can pay others to do.

Get Friday is one of three virtual assistants that I use. So far things are going pretty well with them. I didn't have to wait terribly long to get started. The assistant has been polite and definitely interested in knowing what he can do to best fulfill my needs.

The only problem I've had is when I had him take on something outside of his skill range. I think he was a bit ambitious about how quickly he could figure it out. With any VA there will be a ramp up and training time for things that you want done a specific way.

But they did a brilliant job doing research for us when we decided to move to Argentina. The information was thorough and well-organized.

I'm happy to see the success that you have enjoyed from your excellent book and that Get Friday has also enjoyed by association. Thanks for your invaluable insights.

Andy,

Thanks for quoting my book. Judging from the list of people above, Radically Transparent looks like a great resource. I'll definitely check it out.

I produce two podcasts and listen to dozens. A lot of my listeners use iTunes to subscribe. Adding podcast support to iTunes WiFi is a must. I wholeheartedly add my voice to ask Apple to do so.

in Starting an Online Business Despite Information Overload on David Risley
I am currently changing by podcast tutorial site over to WP. This will be my first time doing such a project for myself. Of course, I'll be hiring a VA to take care of it all ;).

Here is the site I'll be doing:

Here is another site that did really well using WP as a CMS:

I agree that Wordpress is a great solution for getting a web presence up fast. Even if you don't plan on blogging, it's just a great content management system. Plus it offers tons of great marketing advantages when it comes to RSS, SEO, site maps, pinging and on and on.

Sorry to hear about your hassles.

I've been using a service called Mozy.com to automatically back up at least the critical stuff on a daily basis. It uploads to a remote service. The really nice thing is it only backs up files (or even portions of files) that have changed.

The first backup will take several hours or more to upload, but after that, other incremental backups go rather quickly.

in PodCamp email taken out of context… on Scobleizer
Robert,

You are right. You didn't deserve to have this happen.

I'm not the one who started the Google discussion group (or posted the info to it), but I'm sure it was an honest mistake/oversight and done in the "open spirit" of Podcamp. But this situation brings to light the weaknesses in that kind of process.

In hindsight it's clear that a private forum would have been more appropriate for the discussion.

I've learned something from all of this. We'll definitely take it to heart moving forward.

I'd like to comment on this matter as someone who has had involvement with organizing PodcampNYC. I completely understand why Robert asked about travel costs.

I'm not sure why Rob Safuto decided to make an issue of the matter on his blog, but it was an unfortunate decision.

Rob Safuto has not been involved with any of the planning calls, emails, or group threads. He's registered to attend and that's it. Apparently he came across or has been reading the Google Group. He does not speak for PodcampNYC. His site, PodcastNYC, is not affiliated.

Robert, I think those planning the event have nothing but good will towards you...whether or not the decision would be made to fly you in to speak.
