in Feingold Delays Vote on FISA Bill on Jack and Jill Politics
Back to Feingold.

This is the reason why I think Feingold, Democrat of Middleton, WI, should stay in the Senate.

If he ran for president again, and got traction, the MSM and the Reichwing would be focusing on his women problems. They did the last time. Yup, can't keep his pants zipped from what I've heard while I've been here in Madison. After the public drama of two marriages, he is really keeping it low while focusing on important stuff.

Feingold does his job, or at least tries to. His ratings are high here, despite the fact that this is still the land of McCarthy. Sometimes being president is not necessarily for everyone. Clinton, Biden, Feingold. They're better at representing. In other words, a man's got to know his limitations. But those limitations have dividends.

I like Sibelius and Schweitzer.

You got that right about how popular the bird is in Montana. I lived in Montana for seven months while it was still under Repub rule. You'd think that he was the second coming over there, because Judy Martz, his predecessor, was a total disaster. Her approval rating went down to 20% before she left office. These people were dying for some common sense answers to questions, and for an end to scandals.

He's a farmer and cattleman, number one, and a lot of Montanans are still farmers and cattlemen. However, he's a common sense populist as well and I think that's why he has the touch.

Schweitzer would shore up Obama's negatives among lower class whites and even, dare I say it, the NASCAR dads bunch. Better him than Webb in this case, even though Webb is both a firecracker...and supposedly 'hates' women.

Foreign policy is probably his weakness, but he spent several years in Libya and in Saudi Arabia and speaks fluent Arabic. This would really kill the Reichwing and possibly get Faux Noise debating whether he's a al Qaeda plant, too.

But really, it would also mean that he could read exactly what these bad guys are talking about and also parse and circumvent any BS the State Department and the CIA might cook up. Remember, it will be a while before any of our good guys would be able to make a difference in these respective agencies, because of house cleaning.

Webb got written off my list when I saw that Politico piece. Under no effing circumstances would a Confederacy lover get part of my vote.

A Sibelius candidacy would stick it to the diehard Billary women who want 'time to heal.' What do I know about her? She is crisp, knowledgeable, businesslike, and a new generation Dem. She's liberal but not overwhelmingly so, like Biden. She comes from his mother's and grandparents' home state. Both she and Schweitzer have high ratings as governors. Their constituents would miss them terribly.

in McCain Jokes About Beating His Wife on Jack and Jill Politics
Anon is right. McCain is snarking on the obviously loaded question he was asked.

Since we know that McCain has called his wife in front of reliable witnesses expletives and curse words that merely hint at darker impulses and actions at home behind closed doors, McCain went way over the line. He was not being funny. He knows what he has done in the past and wants to tell people that he's not that kind of guy.

Bet you he is.

And he's still not answering questions from the gate, focusing on Obama as being extreme and radical. Answer the freaking question! Explain who YOU are, you lying so-and-so.

Yall buy that shyt about Obama being extreme? They wish, and I don't, and I don't anyone else does either, unless it is someone just as extreme and radical and racial on the Reichwing side wanting to hear confirming 'points' made.

I look forward to seeing McBush discombobulate on national television as well. I'm wanting to see the reporter with steel ones (despite gender) say, "Sir, please answer the question," to McCain. Watch him come apart, or better, watch him go off even while on his meds. Then we'll see who really is capable of manning the tiller on the ship of state.

Charlie Sheen is a waste of sperm and egg. And I haven't read yet that Denise Richards is like Heather Locklear--who has black, Native as well as white antecedents. She ain't black.

Must be the new thing for whites to call each other the N word. Of course, the C word is always reprehensible.

It's high time Tony Todd should cut his losses, too.

Charlie Sheen Apologizes for Calling Denise Richards the N-Word

Wednesday June 18, 2008

Charlie Sheen is apologizing for a three-year-old voicemail that ex Denise Richards made public.

The voicemail included a curse-filled rant from Sheen calling Richards – the mother of their two young daughters Sam, 4, and Lola, 3 – a "f--king c--t" and a "f--king n----r."

In response, the Two and a Half Men star said in a statement released Wednesday, "I deeply apologize by my choice of words to all I have obviously offended; especially to Tony Todd, an African-American, who was my best man at my first two weddings."

Sheen added, however, that "three and one-half years later, the reasons that caused the anger and frustration displayed on that voice mail continue to be manifested on a daily basis" because "my children did not show up today for a custodial visit without explanation."

Sheen – who wed Brooke Mueller last month – has been in a bitter public feud with Richards since they split in 2006. She recently revealed that he gave their daughters necklaces before asking for them back.

Good, cause I am getting sick and tired of seeing McSame's ads running here in WI unchallenged.

Re: the Muslim women dust-up. The campaign effed up, I do agree, but rock meet hard place. If even one of the women showed up on campaign photos and videos, the Reich Wing would pony them up every chance they got, trying to sow more doubt that Obama isn't American, Christian, and is a stealth candidate.

Barack gets his suits off the rack at Bloomie's or Nordy's. He gets them different colors, then uses them time and again.

Proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that:

1) My people know how to dress when they have a few ducats.

2) You don't need a personal tailor or couturier to make you look right.

3) They won't be able to shop like they used to once they get to the White House. Too bad. The First Lady shopping at Target for Malia and Sasha? Sales would go through the roof.

in Obama and the Resurgence of Negritude in France on Jack and Jill Politics
Before I left New York, during the Harlem Book Fair, I attended a discussion in which a brother was talking about what was happening in France regarding its educated black and Arab population that cannot get anywhere and can go no place up the ladders of economic and political empowerment.

This is stuff that our media fails to cover on a continuous basis. In some way, it tends to isolate other black people from each other. I mean, really, pardon us from getting ideas from what's happening in other countries...

That's why it pays to watch the BBC at times, but even its American version sometimes scrubs nearly all 'bad' news, unless it is too big not to cover.

Anyway, I certainly do remember this cat at the book fair saying that we don't see half of the disturbances that have occurred in France that involve not only job discrimination, but surveillance and police harassment and shootings that mirror those here in the U.S.

The breaking point is about to occur, I believe. Europeans, like Brazilians, like Germans and like British are going to have to come up with the goods as well, not just BS about equality.

I read an article recently by a German columnist (rendered into English) that said that as Obama reaches the Oval Office, so must the peoples of color who are just as German, French or Scandinavian as the next white version. They must be ministers, representatives, even prime ministers and presidents of their respective nations. The European identity must be inclusive. The author wondered aloud how European whites would accept these challenges:

Suddenly we would have to ask ourselves questions we have never asked before. Indeed - what would it mean to us if the child or grandchild of an African became a candidate for the chancellorship? The answer is a recognition that unless we want a society in which skin color predetermines the awarding of offices and influence, much of Europe will have to change its mindset.

When they say the whole world is waiting on President Obama, I'm convinced that it IS indeed all the world.

in Tim Russert Dead At 58 on Jack and Jill Politics
He was duped...

First off, Russert was hardly a tool of the right wing. He was a Kennedy Democrat who worked for two

of the most liberal politicians of the past half century (Pat Moynihan and Mario Cuomo) before he joined NBC news in the early 80's.

Pat Moynihan of the vaunted Moynihan Report, which stated that blacks should be given 'benign neglect' and who was one of Nixon's Democratic friends?

One of his best friends is James Carville, hardly a right-winger.

Er...um, have you listened to Carville lately? He's a DLC Dem, which doesn't ingratiate me to him. And a clown.

I think sore having trouble making the dme of the folks on this thread aistinction between a commentator/pundit and a journalist.

His wife was a journalist. Russert was trained as a lawyer and later working with Moynihan and Cuomo, in PR advocacy. The questioning you admire comes from his training in law, not from journalism.

I love Olbermann and Matthews (yes, I said that I like Hardball) but they're pundits. Nothing wrong with it. Russert was a journalist...

Russert was a pundit, too.

...But the fact that he was duped by them was more of a reflection on the administration deception than on Russert.

He didn't do his fucking job, neither...some investigative reporting skills. The job of a reporter is not to become a celebrity, but to report even the bad news objectively. Russert never asked the right questions.

I'm rather shocked that 'Timmeh' bit the big one. But I'm rather underwhelmed at all the oceans of tears over him. I'd rather people get upset over Unca Walter (Cronkite), who is still with us (knock on wood).

I'm under no illusions about guys like Russert and Chris Matthews, though. These days, journalists are more likely to be celebrities and are in lock step with their bosses; in his case, the ever-morphing GE-Universal. He and Brokaw tried to whack Olbermann recently over what they thought was overstepping about the Borg Queen's departure from the presidential race.

Some reports, however, say that Russert may have died from a cardiac embolism, that is, an errant blood clot. Russert had just returned from Italy with his college grad son and wife. It was a long plane flight, and it is said that if he had just chewed some aspirin (even children's aspirin), he would have thinned his blood enough to avoid a clot forming in his legs from inactivity.

Yall think about that when you travel.

But yeah, get a colored man or woman to attack a colored man or woman, by proxy. That way, their hands are clean, without someone checking out the strings floating over the puppet.

Tim Wise is a white person who makes a living from being a professional white "antiracist," meaning writing and speaking about these things. That is what gets him his money.

There is a sort of white scam going on IMO.

I think 'the scam' is purely your perception.

I don't think Wise says it better than blacks or other people of color. However, it's also been my experience, especially living in a place like Wisconsin, that when certain whites echo exactly what I tell the same people, that's the only time, it appears that they give me credence. And that could be on any issue, even those unrelated to politics.

There are times, I admit, that I don't agree with everything Wise says. And if he is getting paid, then so is someone like Dave Zirin, with his Edge of Sports blog and books on Muhammad Ali and blacks in sport. So is Cornel, btw.

I truly think this is a non-issue; I retain my admiration for people like Wise because getting paid is small time compared to getting the message out.

It's too bad that he isn't on "Countdown" or "Real Time" with Maher. Else he'd really be making the ducats, right?

I thought...no way.

I was an Edwards supporter because of what he tried to do with New Orleans and with poverty.

I liked Edwards' wife, too.

Then Edwards faded in the Obama juggernaut, and I had to respect brother man and to really look at him.

Then I knew he was for real when Bill started whining about how dis colored boy outta no place done spoiled mah fun on Charlie Rose. The race-baiting started at that moment.

I wasn't even thinking of switching to Billary then. I didn't even like the idea of voting for her. I was even iffy about Obama after reading a few articles on Black Agenda Report and reading this piece called "Barack Obama, Inc." in The Atlantic, I think. But that pathetic performance on Rose after Iowa tore it for me. I thought then, oh, no you ain't, b*tch. Not while I live am I going to vote for your ass again.

Then the "Yes we can" video came out...and I kept playing it over and over, and sending it to friends, and he kept winning and winning. Confounding everyone.

I'm reading his books soon, just to get a bead on him. I wish him well, and I'm praying for him to stay alive. I know his nomination and elevation to the presidency is going to be largely symbolic for us; he's going to make some mistakes. But he is ours; I never thought that he was less black or not black enough. Just too unknown...

And now everyone knows him.

I have to demur. Racism is considered by some psychologists as a mental illness. Especially with this queen bigot here spewing.

As my own mother has said, class will tell. Obama told his people to stay home--a priceless move. Because I'm sure the media were ready to show blood in the street, with demonstrators using the wrong end of their placards to pole each other.

That would have been the wrong message to send to folks, especially through MSNBC and C-Span.

This whole episode showed how viral, dangerous, delusional and classless these Hillbots are. And the sad thing is that these people have been so worked up by Billary & Co., they can't see logic for the bigotry foaming at their lips. Women like this been popping the wrong set of pills, if you ask me.

Billary is not going to live this down, so help me. They've opened Pandora's Box on this end of the political spectrum. They're going to reap what they sow.

in "This is Barack Obama’s party now." on Jack and Jill Politics
Let's be frank. The DLC, which Clinton and Lieberman represent, wanted nothing less to out-do the Repubs by appeasing Repubs. That's been their modus from the get-go, faking liberalism, or progressive politics, and sucking up to blacks but delivering next to nothing. Right now, I am sure Lani Guinier smiling to herself. Joycelyn Elders, too. The way the Clintons threw them and other former true believers under the bus should have been a warning to people about how low they can go.

Watch for them and their fanatical followers to try something on the Convention floor, rather than cut their losses and think about Hillary being re-elected. Because in the current mood, people are willing to have long, long memories. Already some are openly touting strong alternative candidates going against her with enough oppo to last a lifetime. The Clintons have burned money, opportunity, good will, and bridges. They're not going to recover from this.

...and don't oount on them giving any support to Obama. They won't. They didn't to Gore or Kerry. So why expect it for Obama? They've shown their true colors. More than once, I've seen people writing them off, writing them off as nothing less than Republicans, not Democrats. They're not a class act, with Bill's peevishness and Hillary's outright lying and race-baiting. Feminists, they are not. Opportunists to the nadir degree, yes.

And finally, this opposition party may at last be able to grow a length of spine that bends to no more defeatism, Repubs, or their bankrupt strategies. An opposition party that throws off years of DLC pandering, silencing, and subversion of Democratic ideals.

A REAL opposition party that doesn't crawl or parrot the other party's worst policies and tendencies. I'm hoping--but praying for Obama.
