I think you'll love it. Especially the area you're moving to - I don't know anyone who doesn't!

I wish you luck in your move! I have found it nearly impossible not to have a lifestyle shift just by making the move south. Do you know the Tom Petty song Southern Accent? I think of that song a lot and how it's so true for life down here. You being from the South, I am certain you'll settle right back in.

I find it quite thrilling to see another blogger making a head-spinning move like my family did 3 years ago. I know the circumstances are not all the same, but you seem to be driven by the same thing my family has all this time - more freedom, independence, and a (warmer) slower pace. Best of luck to you and yours as you navigate the turns life brings you.

in our family has an opportunity for startling change - and links on brip blap
Wow, what an exciting change on your horizon! I'd argue that while on a whole, Florida doesn't fare all that well for schools, there are certainly areas that have quite impressive public schools. Good luck with everything!

in what motivates you more: frugality or decluttering? on brip blap
I think you're describing what I consider to be simplicity. Less stuff - which means spending less, which means you end up being frugal - but not necessarily because you have to or want to be frugal but because you're striving for a life with less stuff.
I live a debt free (including no mortgage) life out of desire to save for later (yes, even with the markets tanking - I have had fun buying the last couple of months!).
For me it started as needing to be frugal, which led to less stuff and then the simpler life was really nice so now even when I don't need to be as frugal, I am because I just don't want more stuff!!

in Tsh Oxenreider asks: In what way are you delightfully conventional? on Carrie and Danielle
I tend to be unconventional on big things but conventional on small stuff. I write thank you notes, I love holiday traditions, and Sundays with family.

in 10 reasons to be a good neighbor on brip blap
great points here, steve. we moved into a transitional neighborhood 2 years ago and while it has its quirks and the neighbors aren't all fabulous, we all get along. it is nice to have someone across the street walk and feed our dogs when we're away. and just a couple nights ago another neighbor came to the rescue when we were digging up a dead tree. you've made me think about all the good stuff instead of my usual rolling my eyes at some of the not so good stuff.
and i could stare at that pretty pretty photo in this post all day. i have fence and garden envy enough that i am even going to click and see who calls that yard home.
