in Man In The Mirror on Conversations With Marva
This frightens me because it seems as though instead of making progress towards a truly equal world we are crashing back into the stone age.

This is inexcusable. I am beyond anger, I am sad for the state of humanity and truly scared for the fate of mankind.

This one had me really thinking and this is how I approached the theme: From Groups to Solo - Stars that Shone Brighter as Singles

in The Pursuit of Happyness on Conversations With Marva
I am still in shock at Michael Jacson's death. I feel such sadness because he was so young but mostly because his last years were fraught with such unhappiness.

Despite how bizarre his behavior got, this was a young man who brought us some great music and entertainment in his heyday and I hope we can remember him for that and leave the conjecture behind.

Maybe we can remember instead that this was an artist that was inducted into the Music Hall of Fame TWICE and won 13 Grammy Awards.

I posted my Memorial to Michael Jackson, King of Pop just after I heard about his death - I knew this would be our OSF this week.

in Old School Friday: Let’s Dance! on Conversations With Marva
First, let me preface my comment with this - I can actually dance pretty good now. Now, you may get a giggle at my expense by reading, "How dancing "The Freddy" scarred me for life."

Happy OSF!

in Old School Friday: Keep It In The Family on Conversations With Marva
Well, leave it to me - I twisted this theme again. I knew you meant family singing groups but the minute I saw your theme I thought of Heart and Soul - A musical family thread for over 40 years.

But if I had to think of a family group I would have gone with The Beach Boys (even though they did have non family members, those members were such old friends they were probably part of the family).

Happy TT to all and to all a good Friday!

in Comparing The Assemblage Works Of Bernard Pras' With The Originals on If It's Hip, It's Here
Very cool - I'd like to share this with my readers on my artist's resource blog The Normal Challenged Artist if you wouldn't mind if I link to this post?

Makes me want to start scrounging the garage sales for nifty little "found objects" and do some of my own, lol.

Wow, bringing back the 70s with the Soul Train Line!

I found out something interesting about Soul Train in the future!!! Soul Train - 3 decades of Soul turns Comedic?

How's that for a teaser??? LOL. Happy OSF!

in OSF: Family Reunion on Conversations With Marva
I have never attended a family reunion but I have attended a few school reunions! So I took the liberty of "adjusting" the theme (once again!) to suit my own nefarious purposes:

Family Reunion or School Reunion - it's all Rock and Roll to me!

Happy OSF!

Okay, I want to spam Hugh Jackman too - sorta like internet stalking, lol? Gotta love a man who can dance, sing and look good with hugh metal spikes in his hands!

We're doing it now. Mention http://love146.org, and encourage him to spend his dollars on saving kids from sexual slavery! It's the easiest thing I've ever done for a good cause. :)

in Save a Life - Adopt a Pet in Asheville, NC! on The Adventures of Traveling Bob
I sure wish you lived near me - there's a little stray dog someone abandoned around - it's so cute, about 10 or 11 pounds, black and white long hair with floppy ears, but it's going feral and very skittish.

I'm trying very hard to gain it's trust so I can rescue it. The other day it was raining and the little thing was soaked - it tore at my heart.

There's not a no-kill shelter near me but there's one in Palm Springs and I'll take it there. I'd adopt it but Pixel would get so upset - she's pretty much used to being my one and only and I won't upset that at this point. Plus it's been loose for so long I would worry about exposing Pixel to some disease, etc.

What you're doing here is wonderful and I hope that someone takes all these little pets. This sounds like a great organization and I sure wish they were here in my area right now!

Love you Bob and hope you're feeling better today!

in Old School Friday: If I Were A Boy on Conversations With Marva
O - M - G! What a body! Whew, let me stick my head in the fridge and cool off a bit . . . . . okay, better now.

I was/am a little confused by the topic, but I checked Malcolm's blog out and think I may have it down, but just in case I got a little tricky and covered all my bases with If I were "LUCKY" . . . and, yes, I even got some retro 70s in there too!

What do I win???? LOL!

Happy OSF! You were particularly devious this week, madam!

in Old School Friday: I Had A Bad Day on Conversations With Marva
Relaxing is good and so is Bob Marley - one of my favorites when I need to wind down - but when I've had a bad day I need a little swing and a little jive and some boogie woogie - come on, you know where I'm going here - Big Bands

Bob Marley's Stir It Up is relaxing but I usually need something that gets my blood moving in a good direction, something with a little swing and a little jive and some boogie woogie - come on, you know where I'm going here - Big Bands!

Good for you. You were wise enough to see that this was not going to be a good connection and you walked away from a major headache down the line!

Not everyone has the where-with-all to succeed in their own business. I've always believed being my own boss made my life a lot less aggravating, but the work ethic required is gynourmous, lol!

It was 1967 and there was a quiet before the storm. Elvis got married, war raged and an eruption of new thought was about to make it's debut. My sophomore year - a psychedelic segue to The Summer of Love, a musical novelette of peace, love and rock & roll by PopArtDiva.

in Reverse Mentoring on danny brown - social media pr and marketing
It can be as simple as that and it should be, though often the corporate world will complicate things with endless "decision by committee".

Maybe the idea could be started with smaller, individual businesses, "mom and pop" establishments that could use the expertise and experience of an older individual or the tech savvy of the younger generation (though don't count out all those over 50 as technically challenged!). Sometimes a grassroots movement is that first step to global implementation.

It is a little like S.C.O.R.E., an organization I have taken advantage of on numerous occasions. S.C.O.R.E. a group of retired experts in various fields and their advice is free. I even found a food chemist there! However, it is a government organization and not geared towards deeper involvement.

It would be interesting to bring this up at the next AgeOp and see if a business model could be created for "The Mentor Marketplace - Putting people of all ages and ideas of all people together for a new tomorrow" or some such marketing speak like that.
