Yeah, you have to look long and hard to find a modern blues vocalist who can compare with may of the greats. T-Bone Walker, Robert Johnson, Mississippi John Hurt, Freddie King, Son Housethese guys are in a class all their own.
Makes you wonder how it happened, too... today, blues as a whole is only a shadow of what it was in the early & mid 20th century.
So much emphasis on just one part of the equation (guitar,) has left the entire genre sounding somewhat neutered. IMHO anyway.
By the way, the shameless plug wasn't necessary. :)
