in Only Ten Movies In My Netflix Queue. Any Recommendations? on Webomatica
Jason, you should go on a Film Noir bender... I promised you a list of my absolute favorites (that I've seen! -- there are so many films in this genre). Unfortunately, I could not put a few of my favorites on this list that I've seen, since they are not available on DVD (!!!!). But these you'll have no problem getting a copy of. It includes a few Neo-Noir movies (those done in the style of noir, but produced after the heydey of Hollywood's noir era). Mylist is listed based on order of priority viewing:
1. Night of the Hunter
2. Sunset Boulevard
3. Laura
4. The Big Sleep
5. Gilda
6. Touch of Evil
7. Body Heat
8. Maltese Falcon
9. Mildred Pierce
10. Chinatown
11. The Third Man
12. Double Indemnity

in Twin Peaks: Thoughts On Season Two on Webomatica
Please don't cry too hard for Laura Palmer...after all, we learn in the movie that she did in fact find redemption after her death (angel/lodge/smiling imagery).
I liked reading your final thoughts on Twin Peaks as a whole, and the 2nd season. I actually enjoyed some of the minor characters and storylines you disliked -- in particular, Norma's b**** of a mom, and Nadine's amnesiac regression. Those were some highlights to go along with the other ones you've mentioned.
I agree that the revelation that Leland was possessed by an entity did absolve him of culpability in the abuse of his daughter. However, I found this revelation to be powerful and intense. The episodes in which we learn of Leland's possession by Bob, and the one in which he kills himself, are two of the best in the entire series. This is mostly a credit to Ray Wise, who does a fantastic job with the material.

Glad you enjoyed this. All just opinion. I still have to rewatch fire
walk with me with this season 2 in mind. And yes, ray wise is really
awesome. Now that I think about it, his presence was missing during
all the widham earle stuff. Can we get a season three?

in Battlestar Galactica Season 4 Prep on Webomatica
O.k. Liza is right, I should just forget about my sister's pre-wedding dinner on Friday and watch the episode. And oh yeah, why go to the wedding on Saturday at all... I think I'll just watch a "Lord of the Rings Extended Edition" 12 - hour marathon instead. Sounds like a good weekend....
Seriously, yeah, don't let me know anything. Liza directed me to look at your post (above) and I agree with nearly every point you mention. You'll have to not say a word, though, next week at work! if Liza and I are to make it until next weekend before we watch it...!

Haha... well your sister's wedding is obviously much more important... although... how long has it been since there was a new episode of BSG? :)

in Battlestar Galactica: Good News on Season 4 on Webomatica
That is great news! I'm quivering with excitement over this... here's to hoping that there aren't any glitches in getting the entire season produced (e.g. actors backing out of the final episodes due to a contractual loophole).

in FOF #627 - There’s a Fire in My Pants - 10.11.07 on Feast of Fun
How about dressing up as two of the founding fathers of our country-- only dress up in them during the way they died?
For example, in George Washington's time, bloodletting was a common health remedy....while the president was in fact quite sick in his last days, it is now known that he died much earlied due to blood loss from the leaches affixed all over his skin. Ugh. Imagine-- you get to wear wooden teath, wear a frilly outfit, and have nasty-looking leaches hanging off of your skin!
Another example was Alexander Hamilton, who was impaled in a duel, was he not? You could walk around with a sword stuck through your belly.
I'm sure there are more ways this theme could be explored...

should because of Hitchcock, and I really liked Sunset Boulevard... I've
already seen Sunset Boulevard, Maltese Falcon and Chinatown, and have The
Big Sleep and Double Indemnity ready to go. But I'll add the others for the
future. Thanks!
