in iPhone To Be Sold Online: What Does This Mean For Affiliates? on Sam Harrelson's Comment Forum
Oz-

There is a program on CJ for selling the iPhone and accessories, but there are currently not any affiliate programs on the iPhone itself. That may change with the just released SDK, but we'll have to wait and see if any developers hop on that.

in Affiliate Marketing Bringing Sexy Back on Affiliate Tip
It's not a matter of having to transform in order for affiliate marketing to survive. It's a matter of realizing what affiliate marketing actually is at its foundational level.

Marketing in general is when one person or group of people tell another person or group of people about a particular idea, service, product, sound, taste, touch, or smell in an effort to get them to use that particular thing or experience. Affiliate marketing will succeed in the future because it's so relationship focused. Relationship means everything to future marketing.

Affiliate marketing as we've narrowly defined and described it (html web pages or perhaps blogs on a rare occassion) is but one iteration of what affiliate marketing actually is and has the potential to do for businesses.

So, as we move into a mobile/social/connected/relationship based future, affiliate marketing will become an essential component of a marketing program where a company or business is looking to get its message to the ever increasing fragmented niche and local communities that are the result of a once monolithic consumer culture that is now crumbling at the tools of technology.

The really interesting ads are things like the movie posters in his (soon to be former) apartment. If you notice, they rotate like banners based on paid placements.

He also does Mike Wallace in 1962 style product placements and shout outs.

That's the future (er... past?) of video.

Love the caffeine tip.

However, I’d go with green tea since it’s better for you than the sugar water you prescribe!

in Do Kontera Ads Bother You? on Sage Blogger
Hey Vlad-

Personally, I strongly dislike the Kontera (and Snap.com) ads. That's my own taste and should have no impact on your decision as to include them here.

Do what you are comfortable with. If you like them, keep them. If you think they will get in the way, take them down.

ReveNews went through a similar experiment with these intellitext ads and I think they are mostly gone now. I imagine if you poll readers, they are going to say they are annoying as well.

That's why I encourage people to use feed readers and to subscribe to great content such as what you present here!

Thanks for raising the bar!

Hadn't even considered making modifications to improve the user experience, but that's a darn good point that I should have thought of!

Attempting to make the CPN process user friendly now...

I need to look into the SEOmoz site to see how the nofollow fad could really shake things up.
