I just can't see promotion/relegation being phased out in the Premiership...it would alienate the UK base of fans and you would end up with stagnate teams that never win at the bottom of the table (i.e. the Arizona Cardinals & Detroit Lions in the NFL).


I would go so far as saying that it is merely sensational journalism to suggest that promotion/relegation could somehow be phased out. A European Super League though...that is something more plausible...

I will definitely be listening to Match Live audio commentary (available through various club sites) rather then watching a tape delay or paying PPV...I am highly interested in FA Cup but I think that Fox's method of handling the coverage puts finances before actually building an audience for the competition.

I'm keeping ITVN because my roommates love OnDemand with our cable company and therefore don't want DirectTV...this is a huge blow though. I really hope ITVN comes up with some solution for the recording issue...otherwise, I might just buy a dish just for Setanta...

Yes, you should definitely see the Magpies...they have the best support in the EPL IMHO and even though they have a lot of drama around them right now it is still a great opportunity to see them play against European competition.

Great interview...I especially appreciated Nicholson's view of fans being alienated & discouraged from cheering at games. I'm a baseball fan and yet I hate going to my local Atlanta Braves games because if you cheer loudly or yell then you get ushered out of the stadium! Part of the reason I watch English football is because I like seeing passionate fans in great venues and I hope that owners & advertisers don't ruin the current atmosphere like they have in American sports.
