in Snow cream on Lake Neuron
Sounds like iced milk (or in some locales, "ice milk") that was on the market until a few years ago. I really liked it better than ice cream and, of course, it was low-cal when few thought about calories.

Must not be because I've been eating avocados with a spoon for many years and not smote dead yet. (Fill the hole with salsa--saves time if not your soul.)

in Speed Linking Slow Linking on Andy Beard - Internet Business Systems Discussion
Thanks for this post. You've given me lots to ponder. Am I being deficient in my speed posts (new term to me, but not a new concept). The analogy that really jarred me was to compare them to a fire exit -- exactly what I don't want!

ATT offers DSL in San Diego for $14.95/mo. Don't know if that's a teaser, but I'd never go back. What you get really depends on your phone line. You can buy DSL service from any company that leases the local phone lines. Here it's old SBC lines. The service was soooo slow and glitchy. I am quite happy with Time Warner's RoadRunner cable modem service, even though it goes out occasionally. If you do a lot of work online like building websites, uploading files, downloading large image files, music, movies, then cable is the only way to go!

This is exactly what happens in any large organization when something goes wrong. Funny thing, though, it only takes one humble person to stand up and take responsibility.

in Advent calendar on Lake Neuron
I started to make an Advent calendar for an artsy craftsy friend a few years ago, but by the time I found out exactly which four weeks her flavor of Lutheranism celebrated, it was Christmas!

Looks fine in the latest IE. It is missing Links, though, and has a very hard-edge, business appearance. Oh, and it is putting my comments into annoying limbo. Was I a bad girl?

in Is it just me? on Lake Neuron
This trend is most welcome, to include groups who celebrate holidays other than Christmas at the same time of year. You might even look at it as putting the Christ back in Christmas, that is, remaking the Christmas celebration into what it was and what it is supposed to be. I'm all for putting Christmas back into the churches and into the lives of Christians and not trying to force it on everyone. As far as a secular holiday celebrating consumerism, well ... I can't support that!

in Comcastic on Lake Neuron
We're seeing these Comcastic ads in San Diego, too, where the company has a large facility. As far as I know, though, they don't supply cable service here, unless Time Warner and/or Cox Cable are owned by Comcastic. It would't surprise me. I don't know who's on first any more! And I thought the ad you describe was contemporary with a guy who looks like Woody Allen years ago. That's Loretta Swit??!!

You lucky ducky! That is one of the perks of working on a newspaper staff that I have missed--all the experiences, the people I got to talk with that otherwise wouldn't have happened.

I have a mortar and pestle. I've worked with lavender most of my life. Use lavender oil. Or a hammer and a rock. Or two rocks. I'd think that grinding lavener would waste most of the fragrance, smearing it on the instrument and container. Perhaps a lesson in distilling would be more useful, if they have access to the herb. Good luck! Stay safe. Blessed be.
