Oh, and I forgot to comment on the changes to the strip. Masterful.

Thanks! (Though it would have been more masterful if I'd gotten it right the first time. Doh.)

I agree with both Jen and Margie. Whether time has passed or not, we're still hanging in the moment where the slug hasn't figured out his predicament. Who doesn't like dramatic irony when it involves such a gleeful look on a slug's face?
And sorry, but I can't help but disagree with Daniel's tirade. Assuming that everyone agrees with your definition of humor and the effect of different symbols on your conceptualization of it, maybe the comic is trash. But despite your efforts, you've yet to prove scientifically that it isn't funny. And please tell me more about neurotransmission speeds in slugs. Where do you get your funding?

Also, let's not forget that slugs don't have the most advanced sensory systems. I'm pretty sure he can't immediately feel that he is on a block of salt. I think that the slug's smile in the last panel is one of obliviousness. He still hasn't realized that he is not in fact in slug heaven. Brilliant.

That goat is huge and immensely evil-looking. Poor sluggie.

I'm also a bit confused about the last panel, but I like it either way. In one, he's figured out a way to drink the stuff without exposing himself to the radiation and his expression is one of delirious bliss. In the other version, the evil corporation that engineered the apocalypse left these soda machines around for the few people that donned protective equipment in time. The can suspiciously fits into the gas mask and instantly floods the victim, forcing him to decide between drowning in grape soda and removing the mask and exposing himself to toxic radiation. Or at least that's my take on it.

That stuff can't be much better for you than nuclear fallout

I always wondered if he would gain fishlike features if he had just eaten sashimi. And it's not like the guy didn't have any mites on him. I'd probably give up on the machine altogether.

I will say the last panel is perplexing. I know he's supposed to be vexed because a penguin has shown up in his machine, but I can't help but see either Brundlefly's head sitting on the floor of the machine or the penguin floating (flying?) above his head inside the machine. But even if neither of these is the case, this one is satisfying in its absurdity.

I meant that it looked like it took a lot of breaths to accomplish such detail. Maybe I should have said painstaking. Or would that imply that I got hurt when I looked at it?

The detail on Pac-man in the second panel is breathtaking. I also like how his path in the third panel is all in the down direction, until he has to finally scale upward to get more pills.

I don't much care for this one for some reason. I think it's because the punchline is really in the first frame and the third frame isn't much to look at (no pun intended). The artwork is incredible though.

One day, wars are actually going to be fought like this and mishaps such as this are bound to happen. I just hope I'm far enough away from the coast to avoid those goddamned chronoshifted cruisers.

I want a bookmark with the last panel printed on it. A real bookmark.
