Thanks very much for diving right in. There's a kind of deja vu about this, as you were one of the very first to visit and review Zoopy v1 back in March. And you were just at thorough in your observations back then too... which is the kind of feedback we can only hope for.
To answer many of your concerns in one go, it needs to be highlighted that (as mentioned in my blog post on the launch), we chose to go live with this version at a very early stage in its final development. So a lot of the issues you've indicated (missing About Us page, missing privacy policy, forced acceptance of newsletter) can be better described as unfinished items rather than bugs. But that doesn't excuse any them. And they're on our list and will be ticked off one by one over the next few days ... and in the case of larger unpolished items, the next week or two. In the case of the About Us page and privacy policy, these will be taken care of tonight and are simply being carried over from our previous site, with some tweaks. So please don't think that these are blank now because we haven't written or thought about them :)
We really wanted to throw Zoopy v2 open and get user involvement and feedback earlier rather than later. It's holiday time, we've just launched the Nseries partnership and we have a great opportunity for users to test and interact with us in a slightly less stressed time of year.
The old profile concern is something we just didn't anticipate. But it's something we can assist with very quickly. If you'd like to create a brand new account with your existing email address, of if you'd simply like to change your username, please give me a shout on jason@zoopy.com and we'll push it to the top of our Quick List.
The good news is that your list is officially the first entrant in the Report a Bug Competition :) Once your account/username/email address are sorted out, please try uploading (see www.zoopy.com/nokia for the Nseries magic) and using the new interface. We'd obviously love as much feedback as possible, especially when it's as detailed and documented as this.
Good to have you with us again :)

in Zoopy on Black Web 2.0
Hi guys
Thank you for the well researched review. Your conclusions are fair to the current version of our site but the good news is that Zoopy v2 will be launching in the next couple of weeks, turning our community into a solid social media destination with expanded functionality, overhauled design and optimized technology. It's an A to Z revision of v1 and will hopefully please our visitors as much as it does us.
Please consider adding a P.S. to this review after our new site goes live.
Thanks again for giving Zoopy some Black Web 2.0 time.

Paul! Still can't believe what went down in the middle of our city tonight. The guys handling the situation were very prepared and professional. The negotiators tried until the very end to get the guy to come out peacefully, but you saw what ended up happening. It really did feel like a film set. But when you're standing in a cloud of gun powder, it all becomes very real.

I thought I felt my ears burning. You know what my answer's going to be here :)
In the true spirit of Web 2.0, ubuntu and general stick-together-ness, Zoopy's your only real alternative. Besides being able to speak Afrikaans and know the frustrations of driving behind taxis, we do our best to respond to comments/feedback/requests with real changes as soon as possible. You can't say the same for Revver.
So let us know when you migrate over. We'll send you something special to welcome you home :)
Take care

Thanks Paul! It's exactly because of *your* contribution to the SA community-at-large (encouragement where necessary, with fair criticism when required) that we read and comment on your blog as regularly as we can!
While we're doing our best to achieve as much as we can, as quickly as we can, there are still endless possibilities to cover. That Lion King song was soooo right: there's more to do than can ever be done! And there's even less chance of us doing it if we do it with our ears closed. So the more feedback and ideas we exchange, and the more we co-build, the better chance we all have of making each other's products much more enjoyable for everyone, and far more sustainable in the long run.
But tomorrow's another day (can you believe it's Thursday already?!). Good luck out there :)

Howzit Charl!
Three things on this one. First, though Zoopy only launched into Live Beta on 5 March 07, we entered closed-Beta testing from the third quarter of last year. Second, Zoopy is (and still is) SA's first video AND photo sharing social network (i.e. both photos and videos). Third, this is by no means our entire pitch. Yes, we've included the word 'first' in our title tag and once on our About Us page, but really it's just there to give some context to who and what Zoopy is.
But having said all that, we're not all that precious about hanging on to the 'first' claim. In fact, most of our off-site communication refers to Zoopy as 'South Africa's video and photo sharing social network'. The fact that it still exists in two places on our site is less about our ego and more about us spending most of our time on other things, like keeping users happy, releasing new features and developing Zoopy v2 :)
Take it easy - and give us a shout when you're in the Zoopy neighbourhood!

:O oh no!
We've got all our hands busy making things better and faster, so hopefully next time round you won't need to do the Commodore 64 routine (press play on the tape drive, run a bath, have a full English breakfast, read War and Peace and then go check load status).
And your link is going up as we speak :)
