Yet another good point Lowster.
I hope those reading through these comments can understand that I'm not just happy the product was pulled because I want to be "PC" about it.
This was either a dumb idea with poor planning or some nitwit in marketing thought it would be cute to push the envelope by making it look like drug baggies. Either way - bad idea Hershey's.

So just because you aren't "in the know" as you put it, it should be allowed? These were pulled because in addition to complaints from parents, law enforcement have requested that the packages be changed. Maybe you would appreciate the fact that these were discontinued if you got arrested for having a packet of breath freshener in your pocket.

Hi Sal, thanks for stopping by. There is a part of me that agrees with what the petition link says - that parents should be responsible for their kids. However, even the most responsible parents find themselves dealing with meth addicted children. There are MANY other facts that play into why people start using and sure it's probably not because they saw a baggy of breath freshener at the store, however these "baggies" are one more thing that makes it familiar and to younger kids they might even see the real thing and not understand that the drug their friends are using is not sold in stores.
There are many other reasons why this is inappropriate and Hershey's stance of "we didn't know" is ridiculous; but then again they aren't going to come out and say that they wanted it to look risque like illegal street drugs.

So then are you saying that Peter Davi passed away due to plastic in the ocean? What is it you are trying to say; you lost me at ...
I am not attempting to blame Peter Davi for having a meth addiction, nor am I creating more "hype". Unless you are clean and free of meth and have at some point lived with it, will you see that most of the things said about the downfall this country faces due to meth are true and not some fictionalized distraction from the real issues; you know like plastic in the ocean and what not.
I do hope that the day won't come that your heart explodes due to snorting a fat rail, but the truth is if you choose to to take an action such as that, the consequence could quite well be a massive heart attack.
I truly wish you all the best.

in Meth almost wrecked me on Some Chick's Blog
Thanks for stopping by yankee! Wow - small world!! Palmdale is an absolute nightmare. I continue to live in California and Palmdale still isn't too far from me. I have friends and family there and still travel there as well. It's funny, but you didn't grow up too far from where I did! All the things you mentioned, I remember very, very well. Growing up, our house was the local tweaker hangout. And embarrassing as it was, I wouldn't let my little friends come over to our house because our house smelled like cat piss 24/7. Those that did come over, rarely came back.
I guess I should state for the record that I never became addicted to speed. Everyone in my life was though. My parents and every last friend I had. I lived the life as one of them - even staying up for days with them and dealing with those that almost died in front of me. I did try it - on my 18th birthday I said I would do it once just to see what it was that everyone loved so much about meth. I think because I hated what it did to everyone I knew so much, I wouldn't let it's effect take hold. I actually fell asleep after doing a line. I woke up the next day and went on a blind date where I began crying for no apparent reason and left the poor guy sitting alone at Sizzler (lol). I guess I got to experience the emotional roller coaster of coming down, but not the actual high. Oh well, it was best that way. I never did it again.
I write this blog because even though I was not an addict, I lived the life of one. My life could have easily taken the same road as those around me. I could have let the obstacles of growing up poor as dirt with drugs around every corner overcome me, but I didn't.
