I think you bring up some great points Gary. I think it is important to realize that Facebook & Twitter are not mutually exclusive but Facebook does offer communication tools similar to Twitter and YES people are flocking to Twitter. I recorded SOMEWHAT FRANK TV episode 18 as a reply to your thoughts on Twitter vs. Facebook. It is also included below thanks to the sweet Viddler integration on your site. Enjoy!

Great video Gary. Live life to the fullest with no regrets. That's how I like to put it if I were to be totally frank with you. ;)

in Is OpenSocial Social at All? on Social Times
I think OpenSocial might turn out to be more of an "open" Google Gadget standard. I think Google is just trying to do what Netvibes has been trying to do with the open UWA standard. However Google is, well, Google so they have a little more muscle. It will be interesting if they will be able to make the standard stick.

This looks identical to an article I read on Orli Yakuel's blog...

You should at least let your readers know that you got the content from Orli. Otherwise this is a total bush league move and it is not acceptable! :(

Hi Adam,
Great feedback. Mix & Share is one of my favorite features. It makes creating a feed easy without needing to know anything about RSS or XML. I agree with you though on its findablity. We will look to do something to make it more prominent and easy to find in the product. ;)
Best,
Frank

Thanks for the comparison review of myAOL Favorites, one of the offerings in the new myAOL personalization suite that launched into beta today. I wanted to clarify a few things that might have been overlooked in the review.
Shortcuts - myAOL Favorites has shortcut keys just like Google Reader. Try the "J" and "K" for previous and next or if shortcut keys are not your thing try clicking the previous/next buttons at the top right hand side of the reader pane.
Sharing - myAOL Favorites offers a robust sharing feed mashup creator with a feature called "Mix & Share" which was overlooked in this review. "Mix & Share" enables you to create both a page and feed of your favorite feeds or bookmarks. Simply add items to a folder, select the folder and then click the green "Mix & Share" button in the top right corner of the right pane. A dialog with provide Share options and link to a page that renders in a web browser but is also a feed itself. Google allows you one shared page of items while myAOL Favorites allows you to share as many folders filled with feeds or bookmarks as you like. Check out this "Mix & Shared" page of "Web/Tech" feeds I just created here. The URL is also a feed URL and thus can be pulled into a feed reader, startpage or blog, site, etc.
Mobile - myAOL Favorites mobile feed reader launched last week. It enables users to sync feeds with the Web version of the product. More details can be found on the myAOL Blog.
Thanks again for the review and please stay tuned as this is only a first release of a beta product and we are going to be continuing to roll in additional features and tweaks to improve the entire myAOL personalization suite. Also please let me know if you have any further ideas or suggestions.

Hi Frank - thanks for commenting. I looked forever to find the Mix & Share feature when writing the review since it was referenced prominently in your release but couldn't find it. Now that you've pointed it out I see it and think it's a pretty neat way to share content, but it was really pretty hidden. Might want to figure a way to feature it more prominently.

Thanks, Frank, we'll fix those up.
