in Recap #39 - Tuesday 20th March - The Outsiders enter the house! on The Biggest Loser Recap
maybe if they had have had extra outsiders training under the commando and eliminated all but two of them, then it would be more fair/less unfair. but on the other hand, under those conditions, the two outsiders who make it would likely be stronger than the ones we have now, and probably more cohesive as a team too, which this pair are not. the best two out of several outsiders would be a formidable force compared to the ones they actually got. so maybe the way the producers actually did it gives the original six the best chance after all.

but i still don't think it's unfair. i find kimberlie's defense compelling, from tv week: "there's a word that gets thrown around a lot in that house and it's 'deserve'. everyone thinks they 'deserve' something more than everyone else, when in the end it's luck. we were all lucky to be picked out of 10,000 people. no one 'deserves' something more than someone else because they've spend an extra week living in a mansion".

which of the final six can honestly say that they would not have taken the opportunity to be outsiders, had they missed out on a spot in the house? certainly not the same ones who complain the most, i bet.

ahh, stop your sooking...

i guess if the outsiders stay above the yellow line, then their immunity won't make any difference. and they can lose their immunity anyway, if they come last in the challenge, maybe if some little thing goes wrong for them. so all hope is not lost for all you sooks out there, and in there.

i was away from the tv during the two weeks that kelly and michael got evicted. from what i've read, it sounded like kelly sort of deserved it, but it sounded like michael was just tarred with the same brush.

can i just point out, that if the outsiders hadn't been brought in, then one of the insider duos would be going home next week anyway?

since they have been brought in, i think it's only fair that they get immunity for one week, since it's otherwise a foregone conclusion that they'll be going home if they fall below the yellow line.

they're big enough sooks in the house, without everyone here sooking as well.

giving the outsiders immunity is far from the most unfair thing that's happened. the original contestants themselves have inflicted the most unfair eliminations: alex, marty, maybe michael and maybe kelly - and let's not forget pieta, although her elimination was a big brother style twist, so not really the contestants' fault.

they don't need their fingers in any pies anymore. they are capable of fending for themselves, getting through the game on their own strengths instead of hiding behind alliances. i sense that both their characters are improving as they are realizing this. they are becoming more compassionate, and developing more of a friendship than an alliance. they are concerned more about the weight loss, everyone's weight loss, than about playing the game to win. munnalita's massive 9kg loss will cement this positive turn. maybe if they were booted out earlier, they would not have gotten to this stage. i was as pissed off as anyone that alex got booted first, but his character was good and strong enough that he was psychologically capable of doing it on the outside. courtney and munnalita, on the other hand, as much as they were arseholes, were not psychologically ready to make it on the outside, but now they are. this is reason to stop feeling resentful towards them.

i don't have to worry about getting fat from beer. lack of money for much more than the bare essential foods keeps me in check. even if i were to gain weight anyway, i would certainly notice within 5kg, because i can't afford to buy new clothes.

i've been drinking a slab of light beer per week, not much more and not much less, for about the past ten years. i consciously decided back then that that is the right amount, being about the same standard drinks as women can safely have per week. there's no reason to suppose that this will turn into two slabs, three slabs, etc, when i've made that conscious decision to stick to it and have stuck to it for ten years. in fact i may have to cut down to half a slab within the next ten years as my metabolism slows down due to age. the warning signs will be obvious, as i'll start to grow out of my jeans and skirts. i'm my ideal weight now, but it would only take 5kg for my clothes to be too tight so i would know then to cut down on my beer, or be more vigilant with exercise.

similarly, i think it is entirely reasonable for the new munnalita to allow herself to pig out on chocolate at premeditated, precalculated intervals. there's nothing wrong with having double the recommended amount, if it's half as often as recommended. if she's going to have chocolate, she might as well have it in the quantity she enjoys, but do it less often to compensate. who knows, intermittant binges to which she is not accustomed might even turn her off chocolate in the end. but twice the recommended serving once per month seems to be something that she would be happy with.

i still maintain she has a high metabolism. the ridiculous amount of chocolate she was consuming would be enough to make anyone fat. her weight loss figures have been consistant, all around 3kg, and culminating in the highest of 3.6kg, so i doubt that there was waterloading associated with her 9kg loss. that kind of loss without any "cheating" is indicative of a high metabolism. she really stepped up her effort last week, whereas in previous weeks she was just cruising through without trying as hard as she could. we'll see at the next weigh in by her weight loss, if she is spurred on to really have a go at winning the final.

five is overdoing it. i don't think two is overdoing it - so long as it is on a monthly or weekly basis, and in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle. if she prefers to have two mars bars once a month instead of one mars bar twice a month, then just let her be. hell, i don't see a problem with her having the equivalent of ten mars bars once a year if she loves a good pig out! it's just a matter of consciously deciding when and how much is ok to have.

i'm speaking as a beer drinker. i feel i'm entitled to my one slab of light beer each week. when or if i start to get fat, then i'll think about cutting down.

i honestly do think that marsbarlita has a fast metabolism like me, hence her surprisingly good weight loss, and if i were eating chocolate in the quantities she had been, i could be just as fat as her. i don't eat junk very often, but when i do i like to have a generous quantity. i think munnalita is the same.

in Recap #31 - Sunday 11th March - Week 5 Weigh-in Results on The Biggest Loser Recap
i don't see anything wrong with munnalita having two mars bars at once, so long as it's something like once a month, or once a week at the very very most. it's a vast improvement on her previous habit of probably the equivalent of five or ten mars bars, probably more than once a week.

i think she did pull her weight at the weigh in, and if anything it was all the sooking that was the problem much more so than the two mars bars.

also, i'm at the stage of the game where i like all the contestants, including marsbarlita (cute nick name!) and courtney, although they are my two least favourites compared to all the others.

or does it? because if you're trying to make it look random, you choose someone that you wouldn't have chosen... this is a paradox of sorts.

choosing damien cast the least suspicion that it wasn't random.

i've started to find courtney much much more amusing - and munnalita too now - apparently it was her idea to pretend to pull damien's name out of a hat. how very very sneaky of both of them: rather than the choice between an alliance with the more trustworthy but less powerful laura, or the less trustworthy but more powerful three friends, they have got a finger in both pies. well, courtney has anyway... munnalita only thinks she does.

in Munnalita on The Biggest Loser Recap
i'm starting to like munnalita a bit now, probably since the last weigh in, but more since the mars bar incident.

i actually think she has a fast metabolism, judging by her weight loss. she is a skinny person trapped in a fat chocoholic's body!

i can understand where she's coming from with the two mars bars. doing that occasionally can't hurt. also, if she has a fast metabolism as i suspect, then maybe two mars bars at once is reasonable. having just one would make her want to have more sooner rather than later. on the other hand, she might develop a "tolerance" and start to "need" three, five, ten mars bars to be satisfied. in any case, i don't see anything wrong with her having a little pig out on chocolate just once a week, provided she's exercising and eating healthily all through the week. and provided her "chocoholism" isn't literally as bad as alcoholism.

last year, didn't a tied vote mean that the one who had lost the least percentage got voted out?

i also am certain that they had the yellow line thing happening before merging the teams, because harry was safe from the FAT alliance until the week that he fell below the yellow line. also, as soon as the team merged, the FAT alliance was the first to be picked off for their previous vindictiveness. that's my recollection, anyway.

if only marty and greg (?) had have teamed up with alex to get rid of her at the first elimination... what would have happened with a tied vote? does anyone actually know, or is it all speculation?

if she keeps up the weight loss at that rate, she'll run out of weight to lose before the end of it!

at that rate, she'll be down to her ideal weight in one month. even at half that rate, she'll be there in only two months.

in Recap #9 - Tuesday 13th Feb. - Mini-Challenge 2: Electric Boogaloo Volleyball. on The Biggest Loser Recap
the reds are such whingers, "boo hoo hoo, the blues are winning all the challenges" - well what was the rowing challenge just before the weigh-in? wasn't it a challenge? and didn't reds win it?

the only good sport on the red team was alex. all the others just whine and bitch about how the blue team only won because they were lucky, etc.

at least that's my perception. good thing we viewers don't have to vote like in big brother.

in Recap #8 - Monday 12th Feb. - First elimination, backstab redux. on The Biggest Loser Recap
i'm surprised that they were even allowed to vote off the biggest loser. i'm sure that last year, only those below the yellow line could be voted off - and that was while they were still in teams, not just after the teams merged.

alex was the biggest red loser by percentage (if the calculations i read in the official forum are correct) followed by greg i think, so really the vote should have been between pati and munnalita?, and marty depending on whether there are two or three below the line.

honestly, alex having been eliminated under these circumstances puts a sour note on the whole show and makes me not want to watch it anymore. i only hope they bring back the best eliminated contestant as they did with logan harry last year, then alex could be back in with a chance.

and fourthly, it wasn't because it was "physically demanding" that sarah walked out. one thing that stood out for me was her reaction to the final feast. surely she must have seen last year's series and had some idea how hard it would be, but i don't think it clicked for her until the final feast how things are played up for the camera. she was disgusted with the implication that the reason she got fat was from stuffing her face.

i say good on her for sticking to her guns. bringing in cat to talk her out of it wasn't really relevant, because sarah and cat are very little alike, the only similarity really being their starting and ideal weights. sarah walked out because of the emotional demands, not the physical demands. i think she will do better in her secure home environment than on the show where she was extremely uncomfortable.
