Property prices are crazy in Australia. The pool likes nice. If it's shared by everyone at least you don't have to bother with the cleaning.

in Australian Government may backflip on compulsory internet censorship on The Inquisitr
I think you can be assured that not one ISP would implement filtering. The whole exercise has been a waste of time and money and I hope voters don't forget this at the next election.

in Alec Baldwin Banned from the Philippines over Mailorder Bride remarks on The Inquisitr
You can't say anything without causing offense to someone these days. Maybe the word "mail-order" is out of date and he said "internet chat bride".

John E. Bredehoft (Empoprises) Maybe that's why the Philippine government was insulted. Perhaps they want to be pictured as a high-technology center, and Baldwin's statement about mail-order brides was so retro. At least the Russians apparently aren't so uptight about the situation. I can imagine what would happen if the U.S. branded every foreigner as "undesirable" who referred to the "cowboy" stereotype.

in The Future Summit: Australia’s future as a technological backwater on The Inquisitr
What do you expect from a government whose solution to the economic downturn is to give everyone in the country $900 cash to go out and spend on imported products. Imagine if they used the money in a tech start up fund. It seems like Australia never recovered from the 2000 dot com crash.

You can buy Underbelly in Indonesia for less than a dollar a disc. I thought it was interesting that they were selling Aussie shows. The show didn't leave a good impression of Australia with my Indonesian gf.

freestyle Hey Mike, i don't think there's anything that would leave a bad impression on any girl around the world about Australia!

in Holy Smokes Batman: Telstra might be broken up! on duncanriley.com
I wonder if the government really understands the ramifications of the new network. How fair can it be that the government sells off Telstra and then finances a whole new publicly financed company?

Duncan Riley's picture
Duncan Riley Here in lies the problem. Should never have been sold as one entity to start with. But having said that, anti-monopoly type actions aren't unprecedented: break up of AT&T for example was a step that most would agree was for the greater good.

Telstra will also lower their prices, so the take up rate could be slow.

in Sorry Stilgherrian, you’re wrong on a key point on duncanriley.com
Creating a whole new entity sounds like a huge expense. The fibre optics are only going to be a small percentage of the total cost.

And who is going to work at this new company? Ex-Telstra employees of course, which means it will have the same culture and mindset of Telstra.

The government should really be looking at what Japan is doing now. Eight years is a long time to wait and there could be completely different technology by then.

in Fake Stephen Conroy sacked by Telstra on The Inquisitr
"Last night I said that Telstra hadn't shut down Leslie's Twitter account. This was based on the advice of my colleagues. It's factually correct, though it's also true that Leslie's senior managers independently told him last night to stop."

You can see how that guy got his job at Telstra.

I imagine you will get plenty of applications, but might be hard to find the right people. I hope you post again the results of your trial. Maybe now that you have the links and traffic from the celebrity stuff, you need to do more "money" posts.

If you live in Tokyo for long enough you get used to them, but I would still get freaked out occasionally especially at night. I am in North Sumatra now and yet to feel one here, so it is strange that Melbourne has had two in the past month.

I read the email, but didn't notice the spelling. I was think more about the content of the email to even notice the grammar/spelling.

If it was printed out, I probably would have noticed, but when it is in an email like this, I don't think people really notice that much.
