I think she just simply has some charisma. Because we are capable of doing whatever we need to in our minds to justify our reaction to charisma, I think it's that little bit of charisma that takes people who share her political affiliation from simply agreeing with her to thinking she's got something special. And I can't help feeling the need to mention that "good ol' girl from the west" bravado she sports owes a lot to former Texas gov. Ann Richards...

I am not a one-issue voter myself, but I ALWAYS vote with the Supreme Court in mind...

Ah! Titus Andronicus just has this glossy goreyness to it that makes it a bit fun on top of all the horrid things that happen. Try out the film version sometime.... it really plays with the "gloss" on the gore and still manages to really stab deep at times. Must admit to many hand wagging tongue cut out gags in Shakespeare class though, because that's what you do when you're an ingenue with no lines. There's just something about studying that play that brings out the camp in actors, blood can be fun that way.

in iPhone in Canada: Zoiks! on Kim Werker Blog
I say buy the phone and hack it/open it so that you can use it with the carrier of YOUR choosing. Own your phone, own your service, don't let them own you. We are likely going to pass on the new round of iPhones (even though we want them!) and get super simple phones instead. If I did get an iPhone I wouldn't be using AT&T, but simply making the alterations needed to use the slightly less abusive T-Mobile.

The biggest challenge I face in my work life might have something to do with the air quotes I feel in my fingers as I say "work". Why the air quotes? There are several reasons, the biggest reason is the projects I currently consider my "work", the things I hope will eventually earn me pay currently earn no cash**. Indeed, whoever will pay me for these projects doesn't even know I or these projects exist. Few of my friends even know what I'm working on. I've been holding my cards close to my chest while I convince myself it really is time to finally take the leap and develop these projects (notice I won't even admit to what they are) that have rambled around in my mind for years.

**Actual monetary reward isn't the issue, perhaps most important in this situation is that there is no audience, no one needing this "work". It is a vacuum I feel daily and it is only relieved in the moments I am truly working on a project or right after. Thinking about them doesn't count, after a certain point, I find the thinking sucks any air left in the room...

When I have to make a manicure last I don't do the dishes. this might be different if we had a dishwasher. The dishwater is always a danger zone for purdy nails. How many days does the taping last?

I've been on a New Yorker reading kick. So at least I'm reading something. But guilty mainly of relishing in Harry Potter books on my ipod. It's the last Harry Potter summer and dammit I'm gonna wallow in it!

I think I'll take a look into some of these books on the list. I've never read Ender's Game, one of Rob's faves...

in Wanted: Quality Reads on Kim Werker Blog
Rob recently re-read the entire Foundation series (including additions written by other authors) in chronological order for the story arc (not publication). I simply don't read enough to re-read all that! I do adore Asimov though! Nightfall (a co-write piece from the end of Asimov's life)is a quick and fun read. It's one of those reads that plays out like a movie in my head as I read. I'll note that music by Air is an excellent soundtrack to that one.

Then, there's Snow Crash and Diamond Age. They both rock, though both are guilty of a gratuitous sex scene or two. Snow crash is a bit less mature a work than Diamond Age. if choosing between the two I say Diamond Age.

Have I pushed that book on you before?
