in Nokia N86 8MP Hands On Photos From Singapore on The Nokia Blog
I've been saying this for a while now, same phone slightly different specs. 8 megapixels on virtually the same phone is silly. Its nice to see they stepped up their camera game, but why the same cruddy resolution on the screen.

in Why Nokia 5800 Isn’t Going to Work on The Nokia Blog
Very good points all around. New hardware is a must to stay alive, software is great, but this lag makes them feel like motorola. What now, more E71 variants in different colors? Please bring on the new hardware.

in Nokia Going Off-Course: A Rant on The Nokia Blog
Never doubted the Nokia build quality though. The E71 for example is top notch. N series devices are usually pretty well built. And my luna, is well, awesome.

@ sachin : the N810 is great, unfortunately it isn't a mobile phone (well save for skype).

in Closer Look At Nokia E72 - Better Camera and Smaller Spacebar on The Nokia Blog
I had reception issues! About 3 weeks into usage my 3g was spotty in places I normally got it (compared to when i first got it). I baby my phones too, so its not damage related. That could have been ATT, with all its issues, but when I switched to an N95 in the same places it was fine...

This is supposed to be for ATT as well. Looks like anyone who gets one of these things will probably not be able to get away with the $20 MEdianet plans. I just hope the fix the reception issues. The radio is just in such a strange place.

in Nokia N85 vs Nokia N96 Screen Comparisons on The Nokia Blog
N96 was released today in Europe. I definitely feel like the N96 should be more as the flagship, and that the 85 is probably a better choice, BUT, those .2 inches is the same as going from an n95 to an n95 8GB, and that my friend was big.

in Nokia E71 Review From A Business User on The Nokia Blog
With exchange, at the end of the night I am practically drained 3 or less bars here. But then again exchange is probably a bit more demanding, and my work email gets 2000+ messages a day.

I also forgot to mention, as with any phone sync'd to exchange. Battery life gets murdered. This can be dangerous, but thats the price anyone with exchange has to pay for the always on email.

in Nokia E71 Review From A Business User on The Nokia Blog
My point was that HTML email should be built right into the email client. It shouldn't have to be an attachment. But you are correct with this, it's like this on the 95 as well.

P.S. Be wary of the numerous fakes and imitations on ebay and the internet in general. Lots of lookalikes out there.

in N-Gage Fix in the Works, Excuse for the Problem: Piracy on Symbian in Motion
Well said Zach, although I'm not a huge mobile gamer, it is a terrible excuse. Furthermore it isn't like these games are high priced pieces of software that are in super high demand. I mean i like the ability to have a cool game with nice graphics over the regular sudoku or othello clone on cellphones, but games that are a mere 8-10 bucks a pop, i think nokia can let us port them over. Otherwise it just feels like we are getting nickle and dimed. Or at least give us the option to buy a slightly more expensive version of the game that lets us port them from handset to handset without having to buy it over and over again via a special license (jivetalk from beejive for Blackberries comes to mind as software with that kind of selling model -- Buy a regular licence for 15 bucks, good for those who stick out their device for two years, or for 30 dollars, move it as many times as you like to new blackberry devices). While i'd rather not see a 2x price increase for the special license, it would certainly be a way to let people keep porting them over if they are worried about piracy, and (god willing) i might land a few more bucks in the dev's hands (as naive as that sounds).

in Vlog: What Nokia/S60 Browser Needs to Steal From Opera Mini and iPhone’s Browser on The Nokia Blog
A lot of phones are like this too, if they don't have dedicated .com or such suffix buttons, they have shortcuts. Iphones have the button for .com, opera mini has the dropdown, blackberries let you use the space bar for periods and @s (if you are sending emails), not to mention most of the formentioned phones have a qwerty keyboard (physical or not). Nokia, we want something like this built into the 95s, virtual on screen keyboard might be pretty cool too no?

in Vlog: Joikuspot is a Must Have S60 App on The Nokia Blog
I like both apps, joikuspot has been pretty stable for me, but i don't have very high prolonged usage. My my ipod touch has no problems connecting and its pretty speedy. Its not really worth it to try it on my bb curve, since the processor is on the slow side so even with the high speeds it still needs to load it up. Both are also quite easy to use. I have no idea how either one of them affects your data usage though, I'd assume you probably ARE doing something bad on your TOS but i'm pretty sure unless you are dling gigs and gigs of stuff, and your data usage is limited to web surfing, you won't see any silly high charges on your bill (I have yet to). Both apps need to be able to support psps and DS's, that will generate a pretty big following since you have mobile online gaming on two huge platforms. From what I gathered, this is the biggest gripe people are having. Truth be told, I'm just glad to have big screen internet while on my ipod while my phone is in my pocket.

in Nokia E71 Hands On By BGR on The Nokia Blog
@ Zach : 100% agree. Definitely would like to rock both. E71 for weekdays, N95-4 for weekend fun. The size on the 71 is just TOO nice. Mark, i'm gonna try to get my hands on one of these things if i can get the right price from some buddies. I'll give you a shout when i ask and give you pricing and what nots. I have a feeling the unlocked one (if its on our bands of 3g) will be better than anything att has to offer (if and when it comes out). I just hate carrier crippled devices for anything that normally comes from overseas.
