I really enjoyed part 1 of the converstion. I really agree with the statement that, since lawyers do not have the opportunity to observe each other in action (since Social Security hearings are closed events), conversations like this are particularly important. Looking forward to part 2!

no reason to wait to hire a lawyer. You should consult a lawyer early in the process, rather than at the end (when you have an ALJ hearing coming up). Since you pay the same fee either way, you should get the lawyer involved early. You will get more representation for your money, and you might win your case earlier (and pay a smaller attorney's fee, too, because the back benefits are less).

Great post! I completely agree. Anyone completing Social Security's forms to be accurate, complete and consistent. The judges really do read what you write.

As Tomasz says, please consider asking a lawyer to review your forms, so that you don't inadvertantly say something that may hurt your claim.

I completely agree that it is necessary to go beyond the medical evidence to develop a claim like this.
