Oh. Oops. Sorry Sean.

I'd like to find anyone willing to put some money on Villa finishing above Liverpool - I could do with some easy money!

Villa have a better chance of winning the Prem than Liverpool?

Lets see, we have Torres, you have Marlon Harewood

We have Steven Gerrard, you have Stilian Petrov.

I think perhaps 'Sean' should be the one worried about feeling stupid

It looks like the segment which seems removable is actually the flash drive... according to this photograph at least. So, the poker chip is basically just a cover...

in Obama Legitimizes FOX by Failing to Confront Them on FOX Attacks!
i consider myself a liberal and i absolutely tolerate other viewpoints. i have no problem with fox asking hard questions about democratics candidates. what i do have a problem with, is the way in which fox constanly distorts news and concepts to promote a right-wing agenda. i wholeheartedly feel that there's no way that an independent viewer can watch fox news and make the argument that they are fair and balanced.

in THE FOX IS WRONG! (Obama version) on FOX Attacks!
it's not so much an issue of disliking someone or a network who shares a different viewpoint but rather the point of condemning news outlets and others that distort news to fit their own agenda. having a different opinion is fine, that's what makes this country what great. but slandering those who disagree with fox and misrepresenting facts to the american people, is unacceptable.

well i think the reason Rummy doesn't use email is because he knows how long term messages can be and that is dangerous to his position. It is not related to knowledge of technology, so becareful of that leap.

Sun Tzu said that 'all war is based on deception' so all of this is just a part of normal war time thinking...as wrong as it may be.

Our only hope is that we the people come together and change those ways.

As usual the liberals scream "liar" but provide no evidence. How about one of your prez hopefuls go on The Factor and confront him? Too fucking chicken that's why. None of them could lead this country.

in Wesley Clark Event Cuts Across Supporter Lines on The Iowa Independent
Coordinator, "Give 'em Hill in '08" People always respond to emotion. This is why the mud and slime propoganda of the Republicans has always worked.

Psychologists, especially therapists, have been aware of this for a long time.

One of the key reasons Dukakis lost was because Crystal, by embelleshing the Willie Horton situation aroused the fear among Southern White Democrats that the Dems were going to encourage more black violence.

Another excellent example was the 2000 race. During a key debate with the Texas "cowboy" from Mass,The "cowboy" took statements out of context, and made some flat out lies concefrning the contents of Gore's latest book. Gore, just so happened to have a copy of his book. He proceeded in his usual cerebrel manner to spank "the cowboy". When the moderator asked  Bush to comment on Gore's lengthy diatribe.

The "cowboy" completely destroyed Gore's arguement withy two simple words; "fuzzy math". He went on to become declared the winner, and the rest is history.

Fortunately Hillary,as did Bill, announces, or responds with quick sound bites.

in Anarchy and the RNC: Protesters Won’t Rule Out 2008 Violence on The Minnesota Independent
Some thoughts I think it's completely understandable why Andy's attention would be drawn to the Welcoming Committee's organizing.  We've all seen the peaceful, law-abiding mass marches and we know exactly how effective it is to respectfully disagree with the architects of our exploitation and allow any resistance we might have to be cleanly dealt with and swept under the rug.

I have nothing but good feelings toward Mr. Underwood and anyone else acting their conscience and working to counter the RNC, but there is absolutely no chance that the ruling parties are going to be impressed by a large turn out to a demonstration, say "Oh my goodness. We were wrong all along", and quietly dissolve into the sunset. The people in control of this country and our lives have proven beyond doubt that they will do, say, and kill anything in pursuit of their interests, and remaining in power is perhaps their most dire concern.

Even the molotov-throwing, cop-punching, window-smashing anarchists (or at least the ones I know) don't believe that those kind of actions alone are going to accomplish anything without a broader context of resistance.  Whether it's raiding an armory or writing letters to congress, a single tactic held as truth above all others will surely fail.  We need to confront power on every possible front, with every means necessary and available to us.

in The Fear of Sherry on Catavino
Very good article, Gabriella!

Two things: Perhaps you can tell me how to identity a bottle that is fresh, less than 9 months old...? (Yeah, this is the problem...particularly on the West Coast, where many wines take an extra 4-6 months to get here (i.e., East Coast gets it in April, West Coast gets it in October).

Fear of Food is Such a Big Thing in the U.S.

It's funny how the food that people should fear is the food most of them eat regularly.

Wait, I meant sad, not funny.

I wonder if sherry simply suffers from the "you need to try something 20 or so times before you get to like it" rule?* Before delving seriously into wine, I drank a lot of Harvey's Bristol Cream. With food and by itself. Did you get a sense of people at the end of this wine class that most or all who didn't like sherry before do now?

*Besides people not getting the ones that are supposed to be fresh/very young actually getting it that way - and thanks for reminding me about this - something I knew before but had forgotten.

in We’re Sherry Educators on Catavino
One thing I've noticed (but my sample size is small) is that wine geeks are practically afraid of drinking sherry. Beer? No problem. But sherry? It's, "I'll pass on that." This only changes at the end of the meal when they suddenly become willing to drink a sweet sherry as a dessert wine. But paring dry, quality sherry with food? No way, Pepe!
