I heard an interview with here a couple weeks ago on Howard Stern, and three things came to mind:
1. she is one of the most annoying people on the planet.
2. she constantly uses terms like "I'm a rockstar!" whereas in fact, anyone who is actually a rockstar would never call themselves a rockstar, because that would be lame and would cancel out their rockstarness, which is besides the point anyway because no new "rockstar" has existed since 1975.
3. in the interview she said she is faithful to her boyfriend, she kissed a girl once and apparently didn't like it enough to do it again, and the girl she kissed wasn't even wearing cherry flavored chapstick. also i highly doubt that the chapstick line is some deep lesbian metaphor, because i also got out of the interview that she was dumb as rocks. and annoying. i'd still have sex with her though, but i hope she fades away sooner than later.

in Listen: Standstill on Consequence of Sound
I suddenly remembered this band tonight while thinking about all the bands the "almost made it" while I was in Tallyho. Fact is, they were burned out before they ever made it out to California.
I remember seeing them at the Beta Bar right before they disappeared to make their big record with Atlantic. They were the headliners, and there must have been a couple hundred of us there to see them specifically. They only played for 15 minutes, and it was a disjointed set that didn't include the crowd fav's you mentioned. It ended with Justin Taylor dropping his pants and then hopping off the stage. The guy standing next to me in the crowd scoffed, "That's it?" And looked at me for an explanation. I shrugged. What was there to say? They'd lost whatever it was that had made their music so powerful only a year before.
Some time later I was at the Beta Bar to see my friend Tori Sparks play a set. When she was done, we were sitting together at one of the tables on the riser at the back of the room, and I saw Justin Taylor come down the other side and head for the bar. It may have only been my cynicism at work, but he seemed to wander around and try to catch people's attention, hoping he'd be recognized. But alas, nobody gave him the time of day-- the same guy who was worshiped in Talley a year ago.

in Ever Feel Like You Owe Someone an Apology? on The Launching Pad
While I too tired of waitingon Hampton I want to cut him a little slack. He could have dogged it and tried to come back and get paid or retire and get paid. At least he tried. That said y'all are right he hasn't proved a thing yet so let's see how this plays out. What if he offered the Braves a discount for next year, should they sign him?

in In Memory of Skip on The Launching Pad
I am from CT, and we dont get the Braves games anymore on TBS. I think I was more mad that I could not listen to Skip and Pete everyday, more than not seeing the Braves play. I grew up watching the Braves and listening to Skip. He made you feel like you were in there talking with him. I learned so much baseball from him also, he was so smart when it came to the game, and he also made it hilarious at times. I wish I could of just heard one more game of his. No other announcer, or team of announcers, will do what skip and pete did. I am truely going to miss Skip.
Here are my 3 favorite quotes from him…
“Yes! Yes! Yes! The Atlanta Braves have given you a championship! Listen to this crowd!”
“Here comes Bream! Here’s the throw to the plate! He iiiiiiiisssssssss … safe! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win! … Braves win!”
“The bases are loaded again, and I wish I was, too.”

It's pretty obvious these women did not get their jobs through their resume. The main part when a woman is being interviewed is their body not mind. But that's almost anywhere.

Nas' music doesn't even glorify sex and violence. Hence the name of his latest album Hip Hop is Dead.

Bruce, you know not what you talk about. Why not just keep your mouth closed and appear dumb rather than opening it and removing all doubt.

in Braves Punchless, Winless, but Not Hitless on The Launching Pad
Taveras is a bandaid when we need something more. I am afraid that he will be of little or no value. There's a reason he keeps getting released by other teams and it's not because he is so good....

in Bored By The EPL’s Big Four on EPL Talk
I've been following Everton for a couple of years, initially because Andy Johnson happens to be my brother's name and that seemed to be as good a reason as any to pick a team.
I've grown more and more appreciative of Moyes' style of picking up somewhat under-the-radar players (like Lescott and Jagielka) who blossom into solid starters. Plus, Everton has a rich history and were the last team to break into the top 4. What's not to like?

I think it's wrong to call Kaine "pro-life". He's personally against abortion, but to the best of my knowledge he's always said he'll uphold the law of the land, enforce Roe, etc. He doesn't want to enforce his personal views on the populace.
Napolitano, Sebelius and Kaine all make sense to me - competent executives who'd fit with "change", and all show a willingness to fight on "Red" turf.
For the Clark, Biden and Webb fans out there I'd also suggest Jack Reed as another Democrat who could bring a lot of national security experience to the ticket (while also being a true progressive/liberal).

in Langerado 2008: Day 3 Recap on Consequence of Sound
Despite the rain storm Friday night, the wind storm Sat afternoon, and the cold temps sat night, REM wa still able to rawk.
Disco Biscuits were incredible, and the Lee Boys were a great compliment to the late night scene.

Best Sat band by far was the Disco Biscuits, but REM, despite the cold weather and weather battle tested crowd, still did an excellent show.

Electric shavers FTW! Really - I've got a Norelco razor and it's perfect for head shaving. I wouldn't do it if I only could use a blade - they're not very forgiving, and it sucks to bleed from your scalp.
I know many people don't like the electrics for whatever reasons, but once you get used to them they're awesome. Just get a good one and stick with it for a month. For shaving the head, the rotary ones are better-suited than the vibrating ones, but either will do the job.

in More Questions than Answers on Uptown Notes
Can't help you on most of those, but the primary hype I think is largely because in most years, the primaries wrap up early with a secure leader, so in many states they become formalities. This year, more states voted earlier and the parties on both sides are split evenly enough that results of any one primary in any one state actually have an impact. That and people are weary of our incompetent leadership and more eager than usual to embrace the process that will change the situation.

in Gay Initiation Class Seeks to Teach Proper Gayness on ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected
Oh I don't know Randy, being gay has been around long enough to be mentioned in the Bible.
You make a living teaching people how to be ex-gay identified, I don't see much of a problem with a class that teaches social skills to those who want it.
College students have a right to self determination, this class is just here to help those with wanted same sex attractions.
