I don't agree. Google is a business and they can set the terms of doing business with them. However, I also believe that situations like this breed innovation. You don't want to do business the way Google does, so what do you do? People like Ted Murphy, IZEA CEO, are offering alternative services to page rank, and despite his network wide Google slap, his company is growing. Will it work? Time will tell. They got a pro wrestler to be governor so anything really is possible.

Re: GeekCast 31: The Hot Mess

LOL it's really funny to hear the eventual nuggets of good stuff - but behind the louder shenanigans. "Man eats goat testicles." I really hate that feature. You have no control over the quality of videos following yours. That and the remarks left in the comments must be another reason major advertisers are not pouring money into video ads.

Re: Get on the Magic Affiliate Bus

And now Vaynerchuk on the way back? The audience doesn’t know what’s going on. Even Ian Fernando voted himself off the show because it had no structure and required the contestants to fund the campaigns. Just having a structure to it, not “make as much money as you can”, would be enough for the audience to look past the poor production.

How about Mandelback.com for the Zappos contest?

Re: Congressional Hearing on Online Advertising

That was great to hear Tim 's passion about his business and the online advertising industry. All the speakers there offer really good ideas to the board on what can be done to educate both the government and the public about online advertising.

In a follow up video Q&A session, there was an interesting poll result conducted by the board that 60% of small business think getting online is too hard. One solution offered was locally targeted ads on search engines, rather than competing nationally. Great answer. Good to see guys like Tim in the front lines.

Re: Blue Man Group at Affiliate Summit 2008 East

That is going to be great. But I disagree. I think they just haven't figured it out yet. My plan gives them a solid way to do it and doesn't mess with their user videos or publisher model.

Re: How YouTube Is Missing Out On $1.2 Billion A Year By Not Having A Business Channel

Well Google needs to figure out how to make Youtube profitable. Even though Google spends money left and right, they will want a good ROI especially in a down market. If they don't, Youtube might end up one of those stories of the second tech bubble, sold for a ton and never made a buck. Also, Jim has a very good point about integration and the universal search. Youtube videos will rank higher than another business video host company.

Re: Want To Build A Niche Website?

I prefer openX or another adserver. As long as they are able to serve an advertisers tags through their adserver they should be good. A savvy advertiser should be using their own adserver (such as DFA, Dart for Advertisers) and have their own tags. They will give these tags to the publisher and tell them to serve it through the publisher's adserver. The ad call will redirect to the advertiser's server. This way the advertiser will rely on their own numbers for fulfillment.

However, as the industry consolidates they will need to migrate to a standard adserver and inventory tracking system. Which is good, it means they have grown and they are able to sell space to a bigger brand of advertiser.

Re: Your Picture in the Next FeedFront Magazine

It was really hard to get her to balance on top of the computer. ;-)

Re: Your Picture in the Next FeedFront Magazine

That's either a nifty camera shot or the world's smallest dog.
