in Robert and Rocky ride again at Rackspace on Scobleizer
Hey Robert! This sounds like a great thing and a really great fit for someone like you. I think what I have built here with Phreadz [http://phreadz.com] could also fit with what you're doing pretty well in quite a few ways - being 'fanatical about the web'.
I'll drop you a line somewhere and fill you in. Who knows? You might see the fit too? :)
Best of luck!

Of course, another solution for Twitter etc.-based developers is to create desktop apps using AIR
and use SQLlite for local data storage.

That way, devlopers can sleep easy knowing they're not having to bear the
responsibility of storing people's passwords and still deliver all the same
functionality - if not, more!

I don't see how OpenID will solve anything really, apart from mkaing it easier to change your
password across many sites from one place.

In order for just about any app/script to post/crosspost anything on your behalf, you
have to give them the rights to do that by giving the third party your details.
Twitter do not currently have a way of providing a way to do anything on your behalf withouth
using "username:password" in the call to the API.

It's all a question of trust at the end of the day.

Twitter do need to implement a secondary password/api key for this sort of thing though.
See how places like flickr/google/gdata/friendfeed etc do it.
I just means slightly more development to be done, which isn't as easy, but worth learning.

Twitter really needs to have a secondary/API key/password separate to the main user password for all third party things like this.

@Rayanne - Thanks for the comment about Phreadz.

It's in a closed Beta stage with no funding. :)

Also, I can see you have an account, but have yet to log in.

Come on in. The water's fine! :)

Hi there,

Phreadz has also partnered with 12Seconds.tv!

Their simple to use API made it very easy for me add 12Seconds.tv support to our Phreadz users.

Phreadz is a 'Social Multimedia Conversation Network' which lets members thread conversations together by recording or uploading a video in the browser, sharing posts from YouTube, Blip.tv, Qik, Seesmic, Vimeo, Viddler, Flickr (photos too!) and now pulling in a post from 12Seconds.tv!

Great work guys! :) This is METAMEDIA!

I prefer to call it 'Social Multimedia'. And it's all 'V.I.T.A.L' : Video, Images, Text, Audio and Links.

People seem to forget the 'multiple/multi' media types being used everywhere these days.

These jobs have been around for years, as these media types are those which have been connecting us all for years.

So-called 'web 2.0' provided the way to look at the technology which made it more 'social'.

Hi Luca,

Interesting post. I think one of issues worth pointing out also, is that Phreadz is still in private beta testing mode and Seesmic is mostly a flash/flex-only interface.

Also, interesting to see that Hictu is going after the blog commenting features of Seesmic (looking at the form above this) - I don't intend to go down this route with Phreadz, preferring to work more on the community and conversations on the Phreadz site, while also allowing them to continue on other domains = but not as blog comments.

Cheers and best of luck! :)
