The idea of doing that again is, well, exhausting. Identi.ca has at least one thing going for it, it's open source.

Re: Viacom Knows I Was Watching Thundercats Yesterday

Hilarious. I'm embarrassed to admit that I actually watched that show (mainly because I like cats). I doubt Viacom would even care. I agree, PR can be a cost-effective way to generate interest in your activities. I want to reiterate the importance of sending "quality" stories to the media. Reporters/bloggers are inundated with press releases/pitches each day most which end up being ignored or deleted due to irrelevance or poor quality. If you're not a recognized brand you'll need an especially good story to cut through the noise.

I'm also a proponent of DIY PR. In that spirit, I've created a simple news vetting process (see web site above) designed to help people build high quality stories for the media. Feel free to test it out.

Re: Urban Hiking

I love this idea. I did an urban/Portland park hike with a friend recently. Started in the Pearl and ended up at the visitor's center at the Hoyt Arboretum. Great thing about Portland is that an urban hike doesn't always have to be on pavement. More than half of this hike was on nature trails.

Re: Two Really Useful Thesis Documents

I'd just like to add that Thesis has an excellent user forum where you can get quick answers to all kinds of Thesis (and Wordpress) related questions. The active users of that community have bailed me out of all kinds of trouble.
