I think it really depends on who you want your audience to be. If you want it to be your friends or people who already are interested in, as you say, who is writing, the one-blog model is where you want to go. But if you want a diversified audience interested in the topic more than the writer, you want to diversify your blog.

Here's the caveat though. If you're trying to build credibility based on who you are, a good way to do it is to build it in one topic you're passionate about. Pick one topic, blog the heck out of it and build that credibility tall and narrow. Building it horizontally, across a spread of topics, can also get you there, but will likely scatter the construction and take longer to rise above the crowd.

What a cool observation. We weren't always so concerned about historical preservation. There was a time, it seems, people let things age without much fuss. Now Europe spends millions making sure the centruies-old columns in the mosque in Cordoba stay the right shade of red. I bet a focused Google search could answer this question for you.

Thank you, Robert, for making such an important call to action.

Too often we the media regurgitate distractions and drama. We get away from our mission to inform the public and chase the traffic.

We blame it on the public: They're the ones reading it! The public blames it on the campaigns: They're the ones starting it! And the campaigns blame it on the media: They're the ones writing it!

Someone needs to break this cycle. Every iteration is an embarrassment to America. We can do better.
