They have had that luck but I think there a good side. I thought the same
thing happened early last year for my Hawks. I still think that the Cats
will have a win but it has added to the interest in the game!

yes I do agree it is more consistent but from reports Bucanns was a bit of a joke. and how can you get three weeks for a hand on the face and then get off??
mollyfud
The Bucanan was consistent again. His was high (or medium) impact and
reckless (or intentional) when the other incidents where only negligent. He
had 10% loading and a virtual 1 game suspended (from memory). I think the
Pratt case doesn't show a problem with the system but actually is a perfect
example of how the system is working! The Match Review Panel (MRP) should be
making there decisions on the video and evidence they have. They got it
right on the evidence they had. Pratt and North choose to challenge and the
evidence they put forward obviously showed that there was nothing in it.
This is how the system should work!
Just my 2 cents.

Hmmm... I have no problem with this one. Hall should have got more. The
system is consistent and it is consistent again! When we had the old system,
people wanted consistency! This system is consistent. It takes into account
record and the likes and you know what your walking into. Both were stupid
and dangerous. The funny thing is that Hall is on sideline as well.

It's a new world. They have to stay under the cap and as good as Judd is and
as Fev can be, they need the supporting cast and if Fev takes too much, he
won't have one!

Yes I agree that the hits are just as hard and the Barry Hall hits are not as common but however how many injuries are from hits and body contact? I would suggest most are from over training, hard grounds, body stressed etc and not from hits of the game.

in Buddy getting no love from the umps? on Molly's Monday Machination - An AFL Podcast
Yeah I read that article with interest and would agree that Mark is a bit of a dud and that he fails to actually explain why the frees are there.
Nick is indeed a leading forward (and one reason why he does not kick enuff goals) and Buddy does stay forward in the 50m arc more. I would assume that the Hawks do not care at all for Buddys frees against or even frees for, they would be more worried about his inaccurate kicking and indiscplement acts.

But how much of that is from contact or is it from soft tissue injurys from a specific hard ground and from the spead of the game?

You only need to go to the games and hear the body on body contact from
ground level. The dirty hits are leaving and if you miss them, go watch UFC
or something.

in VFL, say hi to your Cousins. Ben Cousins to return? on Molly's Monday Machination - An AFL Podcast
Read this with interest, however the question is which AFL club would look at him??
I do not follow the VFL but in regards to AFL clubs, I could see him play for:
Melbourne - they need a markey player and Cousins work ethic could be good for Melbournes younger players
Essendon - again could do with an established player in the midfield.
St Kilda - he would fit nicely into their party culture but they need young players.
some say Collingwood are interested but I doubt Malthouse would want him. I cannot see any other teams who would be interested. Anyone else?

I think in many ways Sydney is the logical team. I don't think Melbourne
would be a good place as they need to get rid of there older players and
start playing kids. St Kilda are sort of the same but I see them as a side
that will go after him as they think there still a chance, but he would only
be replacing Harvey as you couldn't see him going on next year.
Collingwood seem to have enough kids that they could handle him as far as
the age of there list. I wouldn't like to see the Hawks get him but I would
consider him for our VFL side, Box Hill as he would help the kids we have
there especially the supply to our young forwards.

in MMM - Injuries, Bench, Malthouse and Jeff on Molly's Monday Machination - An AFL Podcast
Mike makes these comments as he is deflecting the focus away from his under performing side, there has been some talk on K2K that maybe its time for a new coach at Collingwood. Also dont forget that Essendon were able to win a player down and Collingwood brought in an injured player so they only have themselves to blame.
Do not change the interchange rules imo
Jeff Kennet is an idiot, no excusses for his outcrys, he did it to get headlines....
do not worry, the Eagles will play the Hawks into form for you like they did for Essendon and Tom Harley

I can't agree that Jeff is an idiot. To think this is to under estimate him.
We should beat the Eagles and should beat them easily. The issue is that we
have to do it!
Mick. He is a complicated one as well. It's a valid subject but is being
lost in his complaint of the week segment. I guess (like Jeff) it will bring
the subject to the fore.

Thanks for the nice words. The reason for the article did come off of having
many discussions about Tanking in different forums (a lot on bigfooty and
other blogs like yours) and repeating myself over and over as I think a lot
look at the perception without thinking through the whole issue and what you
will give up when you follow some of the schemas to there final conclusion.
I hope that becomes apparent as the series evolves. On Carlton, they had
most to gain from a TGT tank (even more so with Judd becoming available) but
it is impossible to prove (unless someone inside the club puts there head on
the line). I think TGT happens least often, is not what most people talk
about when they talk about tanking (they most mean LMT) and is the one sort
that something can be done about. Stay tuned as I think the next installment
is things to consider about when trying to get rid of tanking and then look
at the Options for stopping tanking (you probably already no my thoughts on
this but some might be surprised on my suggestion!)

in MMM - Goodes, Buddygate, Media double standards on Molly's Monday Machination - An AFL Podcast
Goodes and Waters was similar as you say. However Waters was going for the ball (he went down to get ball) were Goodes went past the ball, which was similar as Murphys which should be charged higher, as your not going for the ball. Goodes was reckless!
I think one year is enough.
Seriously does anyone take what Caroline Wilson says into account? She is rubbish and does not know what she talks about.
Ok you've sticked up for Buddy, now admit that he does have a problem. He was in an WA paper and admitted that he did have a problem and he has had more issues than the 3 you mentioned this year.

Hey K2K,
Waters wasn't going the ball. He was closer to the ball but wasn't going the
ball. Agree that Goodes should have been Reckless but its not as bad a
classification as everyone is making out. It was either at the high side of
Negligent or on the low side of reckless.
On Buddy, he may have had other problems and I would love a link to the
thing you are referring too in the WA paper but I can only think of those 3.
If you listened to the media he is getting in blues every week! I just hate
how they have two girls that say one thing (but not everything about the
incident) and have at least 10 people that have said it didn't happen as
they said it did but yet they still slander Buddy with the accusation!
Near the end of Carey's playing career I came to the realization (although
he later was shown to have a fair amount of personal problems) a lot of the
arrogance that people claimed that he had was projected on him from the
media and not necessarily anything he did. I think if you are going to
compare Carey and Buddy, compare them on that. Yes Buddy might celebrate a
goal, but the guy is as humble as they come, always has time for the kids,
works hard at training and in the games and is a team player! I just think
its easier to label people then it is to fully analyses them!
