in Mint.com Review: Personal Finance Manager on Elliott Back's Blog
Finally looked at mint myself, and wow. I think I'd be willing to pay money for the service it provides.

KD Shawn- Like you, I don't feel safe giving that info out. But I LOVE what mint could do and would definitely pay for the service if I felt that it was safe. What did you decide to do?

So, it looks like Yodlee stores the data then? I'm still not sure I like the idea of someone else having my banking login information, but maybe I'm just paranoid.

Side note - you should consider getting the subscribe to comments plugin [1] for wordpress. Otherwise I have to remember to come back and see if you replied to my comment, which is never a safe bet.

I don't understand how they can get updated information from your banks without storing that data. For that matter, giving away your login credentials is probably a violation of the terms of use for most banks (just like it is for e-mail services but other sites ask for them).

in Apple v.s. Dell Laptop Wifi — Elliott C. Back on Elliott Back's Blog
What OS? I know friends who have issues getting Vista to connect wirelessly in certain places randomly, and I'll pull out my mac and it works just fine. I haven't yet figured out the problem (mostly because I usually just give them my mac to use for the time being), but maybe that's a factor?

You mean OS X's poor spellchecking then since Firefox 3 now uses the system spell checker.

Steven Fisher No, I mean Firefox's poor spell checking. The dictionary is fine, but the highlighting in Firefox 3 (and nowhere else) is buggy and often doesn't appear.

I'm not sure how those tests are run, but here's a good article on how Safari doesn't quite to page load timing as we've come to expect:

in Dreamhost Sucks At Hosting — Elliott C. Back on Elliott Back's Blog
Just to show that there are some people out there who like it, Colin Barrett, a developer for Mozilla, recently posted an entry about them:

in Cari.net Dedicated Server SLA — Elliott C. Back on Elliott Back's Blog
I haven't been to happy with 1&1 myself, but I don't need a dedicated server. Dreamhost looks better, but I've also heard my fair share of horror stories about their service too.

Why must picking a host be so difficult?!?

in Thunderbird Freezes / Halts / Sticks When I Click On A Link on Elliott Back's Blog
I have had a similar issue. As I recall, Thunderbird passes the URL to the operating system so that it will open the right browser, so it is very possible that windows is the hold up.

My workaround is to right click and copy the URL location, then go into my browser and paste it into a tab.

I've also noticed that on my Mac I don't have this issue, but on my PC I do.
