in 2008/09/03/awesome-google-chrome/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
Has anyone noticed couple of issues with Chrome yet? No efficient management of Bookmarks..? I imported my firefox bookmarks (loads!!) and when I wanted to remove few it was hard for me to do so... by opening bookmarks and deleting them one after another.
Firefox Bookmark manage was much better... but I believe since this is a beta version.. the future versions should have a good fix for it.
Also using my Dell Laptop, the scroll from touch pad is bad.. when you try to move the page down. it goes to bottom of the page. and same for top... goes to to start of page. No control over mouse movements/touch pad in Laptop.. (or it just with me?).
Cheers!

I have the same problem. I hope they fix it in future versions.
Kyle
I had a similar problem with my dell touchpad where it would go immediately to the bottom of the page, but it would not scroll up at all using the sidebar.

Nope..Even i am facing the same issue with the laptop touchpad. Scrolling up and down is difficult with the touchpad unless you click on teh vertical scroll bar.

in Learn to Say “We’re Sorry” a Lesson From Google on Jacob Morgan on Social Media, Technology, Marketing, and Life
Very interesting post to learn some Ethics from Google specially the present and upcoming so called "newbie" startups. I never experienced any downtime somehow.. no clue how I happened to miss it.. probably it could have during my sleep (?) but when I got up today and opened my RSS reader .. i could see numerous blog posts on GMail Outage and twitter people being loud on it!
Only then did I realise that there was some outage at GMail end. And when I happened to check their blog..I was so pleased the way the blog update was made...! And its very rare you could see such Google apologizing on their blog posts.. but again thats the most sweetest part to care for what you do.
And certainly Twitter should have learnt something from this..! Good post Jacob :) !

I don't find this idea impressive since similar version of site already exists in UK - http://www.hotukdeals.com/ !!
Its more of like Digg version for Consumer2Consumer rating for hottest deals on any products. People don't get paid but you find the best deals!
One of my fav. and best sites I should say... has more than million of user and BeatThat is somewhat similar to that idea but people who post deals are paid.. good!

in O2 unable to activate iPhone's because of demand on Josh Chandler Blog
I never had any issues with activation, however the activation I did was in my home. Took 5 minutes to complete the process...!! Worked charming from my end, used iTunes with integrated browser (IE probably) for activation to happen.

GMail Team have reported about this known issue at their official discussion/support Group. You might want to check : http://is.gd/tFg !!
Which browser do you use to access GMail? Some discussions over the internet suggest changing browser to see if you find any changes to this behavior.

in What Does “Viral Content” Mean? on Jacob Morgan on Social Media, Technology, Marketing, and Life
Very Interesting article Jacob.. been following your write ups for late and I should I love reading them. Commenting on the point.. I go with what you say .. to me viral marketing/viral content means a campaign that uses word-by-mouth or something you would wanna share with your friends.. this directly/in-directly does promote the brand.
The ability to promote such contents among people by highly utilizing the social network for its high speed reach (something like high speed virus infection!?) would be the viral marketing.
Have a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v31qxrXsxv0 (Why every guy should buy their girlfriend Wii Fit?) !! Less than a week old and already 10 Millions+ video views.. this is a perfect example of viral content I would say.. it gives enough exposure for the brand/product! You can see the number of people who have dugg at Digg : http://digg.com/nintendo/Why_every_guy_should_b... which has crossed 10k+ in less than a week!!
Going further, it seems like a internet marketing agency were behind making this video... while it looks like a normal user wanted to share in public.. the reality though is business oriented. It really looks like the marketing group were hired by Nintendo do this viral video and the team has done something simple and yet made it impressive!
And an example for user generated viral content.. i don't have much to show now.. but this would make some sense, have a look at http://www.rahulsood.com/2008/05/ugh-it-was-my-... !! Rahul got MacBook Air from his friends and he used it to cut the cake.. the MacBook air has already made enough noise but againg adding more to it is this viral content.. while the author doesn't do it purposefully, it can be classified as Viral!
The result..? TechCrunch made a mention about it at their site and soon it had a good round around the internet!
And Yeap.. there is difference between user generated viral content (which is always a passion-towards-brand or interest) and which turns out to be a viral content & business viral content .. is easiest way to have a good reach among every growing social networkers!
I hope I tried to give my point of view..!
Cheers,
Vinay

Thats a good contest! I am already a member there, am I still eligible ? Or is only for new members from the contest start date?
Basically user has to be active for the chance to win prizes! So people who have heavy twitter/powence followers should make it with ease!
I am participating though... fingers crossed.. wish me to win one among them (if not MacBook Air!) :-)
Cheers!

I have tried this with my domain with custom logo turned off and I see the Google Wiki logo so it is not fake.

Alright, I got the new interface activated in one my account (which I hardly use) but not on my primary account which I have been using for 3 years now.
I found some cool changes logging into both the ID. How about checking the two sets here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dreampics/collecti...
Orkut (Old) - The Present layout design.
Orkut Beta (New) - Upcoming Version.
Have taken 10 screen shots on each of the interfaces and you can judge the difference easily.
Cheers,
Vinay

Atlast! The engineers @ Orkut have waken up!! I was expecting this change long time back and finally the show time starts.
@Lizi, there is indeed a feature as to what you are expecting but its ain't efficient enough. Many of the times, the indexing takes longer time!
When I saw the news in my RSS feed, I wasn't able to access the site for a long time and when I did, I just could the see background image and now I know why (Scheduled Downtime).
Thanks for the Update :)
