This seems simple enough to me -- what does Haney have to say about Intelligent Design? Surely he has an opinion?

There's no reason to think the $50 fee for the service reflects an actual $50 increase in costs to consumers. If these features were bundled into the operating system and offered consumers $50 in additional value on top of what's already there, then Windows itself would just cost $50 more.

If outsourcing work has a net positive impact on a firm's workforce because the reduction in wages is compensated for by the positive impact on workers' stock options, then there's no reason for a unionized workforce to object to outsourcing. Insofar as unions do object to wage-reducing measures, that's precisely because their members don't, in practice, have a sufficient equity stake to make this a good deal. In principle there's no reason workers couldn't get enough equity to make that arrangement benefical, but a union would be a big help in getting that contract.

Dude, your math is wrong. If the Pitchfork list is 10 percent Canadian, then that means US acts outnumber Canuck acts 9:1, but the US population outnumbers the Canadian population 10:1. Perhaps more to the point, many non-Canadian bands aren't American either. 10 percent Canadianness (assuming that's the right number) is a lot of Canada.
For indie rock promotion purposes, at any rate, the relevant feature of the Canadian system is simply that it severs the employment-medicine link rather than its various other aspects.
