in Who Needs the Clintons? on Jack and Jill Politics
"it would appear she needs Barack Obama more than he needs her"
For what? Now that she is out of the race, she can return to her position as a senator. She is not up for re-election until 2012, or Obama's entire first term.
"he won the nomination without them"
No, he barely won the nomination despite them.
One of Obama's greatest shortcomings is his influence among other liberal politicians is lukewarm and virtually non-existent elsewhere.
As one example, his healthcare plan is markedly different from those of other powerful Democrats, and many aspects of his plan were long written off by other Democrats as unworkable.
Conversely, Clinton's current healthcare plan comes with approval from a great many first-tier CEOs, both Republican and Democrat, whom Clinton courted over the few years. From both the bureaucratic corridor as well as the business sector, many view her plan not only as workable but quickly implementable.
Clinton's brand of politics may have outlasted its shelf life, but she is still sitting on the top shelf with political and business influence that extends far beyond anything Obama has managed to amass.
To summarize, Obama needs Hillary now more than ever, and alienating her at this point has a high probability of poisoning his Presidency, both before and after the election.

"I’m a little uncomfortable with the panacea that 'All that will change once he’s in office.'"
For good reason. Much (most?) of the change that Obama's supporters seem to expect would require Constitutional amendments. All change will require funding whose specifics must be first approved by Congress. Otherwise, the only wiggle room Obama has in enacting change will be minor procedural and logistical things in the interim budgets that he inherits from Bush.

in McCain Jokes About Beating His Wife on Jack and Jill Politics
This one-line response from McCain is yet another one of those campaign incidents which will have no significant impact on the outcome of the election. Obama has had his share of these as well (Whitey/terrorist fist). It goes with the territory known as politics.

in Color of Change Goes After Fox on Obama Coverage on Jack and Jill Politics
"Fox issued some form of weak apology."
Weak? No! Empty. Fox has experts for writing apologies that sound good but say nothing.
From COC with likely Fox comments:
"Your network must find a solution to address racial stereotyping and hate-mongering before it hits the airwaves."
Um, why?
"What new changes will Fox News make to ensure the integrity of its coverage?"
We will push the envelope further. Um, integrity? That's not part of our business model.
"Throughout this election campaign, and beyond, I intend to ..."
Ooh, we're scared.
Much like their Jena 6 activism, COC accomplishments with this petition will be just as empty as Fox's apologies.

Obama damn well better bite his tongue if he expects Congress to do anything for him as President. You know, like enact his version of nationalized health care? Until those bills pass both the House and Senate with the attendant funding, Obama's promises will be vaporware. He is very much at the mercy of the CBC.

in The Obamas Are NOT Elite - And, That Is Fine With Me on Jack and Jill Politics
Among the elite are the Old Money elite and the nouveau riche. The Obamas are definitely nouveau riche. Then again, I do not see that as a putdown.

in White Supremacists Increase Membership due to Obama on Jack and Jill Politics
"There will be a whole parade of stupid that won't end even after President Obama moves into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue."
Well put, and Democrats will also be well represented in that parade. Bush's legacy will focus strongly on his steep slide in approval polls. Obama could well be in for the same ride. Worse still, after four years of Obama, the racist tag applied to his detractors could become so diluted that 'racist' will have no meaning for anyone. Then again, that latter point already has a substantial head start.

in Don Imus - Racist Revived on Jack and Jill Politics
"needs to be taken off the air as apparently ...'s not only a national, but an international embarrassment"
That would apply to about 95% of everything on the air. This was an okay article until then, but that conclusion is far too weak.

in Pat Buchanan Award on Jack and Jill Politics
Note that Nader asked, "Is it because he wants to talk white?", he did not say that Obama IS talking white.
Why is Nader not pressing McCain on those issues? Because the Republicans make it no secret that such issues are low priority for them.

in When It Comes To Michelle Obama, Where Are The Feminists? on Jack and Jill Politics
It's kind of hard to defend anyone who appeared on The View or appears on the cover of US magazine. She has moved from the position of politician's wife to celebrity in her own right. I'd say that if Obama wins, get used to her getting lampooned from all quarters.

in Tim Wise Stirring the Pot on Jack and Jill Politics
This sexism/racism thing is so last week. Now that the two presidential candidates have been determined, the campaign and the rest of the country has progressed to the more traditional focus on the economy. The question now is who is going to put more money in our pockets, more gas in our cars, and more food on our tables.

in Who is Transforming Minnesota’s Health Care? Pawlenty Appoints Health Care Task Force on The Minnesota Independent
Yuck If we're looking to these folks to reform health care in MN, we're out of luck. They're more likely to be focused on funneling healthcare dollars into the pockets of the usual suspets. I recommend stocking up on mustard plasters.
