RC1 and 2 work well, which is nice, but for my purposes the only meaningful change is some things got moved around so so there would be fewer icons on the main bar (not sure what really the point of that was since you could change what was on your main bar anyway, and, silly me, I thought the main bar was for all that stuff, rather then cluttering it everywhere else) and the tabbed system. Can't really say as I like the tabbed system over the previous, so far, but I'm leaving it as is to see if I feel it's an improvement with some use. I can see how people who need/want to keep a bunch of e-mails open might find it useful. For me, though, very much unlike a web browser, I don't see the point.

For me Thunderbird 3 is a bit of a 'meh', but there's no real reason not to upgrade since, fortunately, you can undo most of the... "improvements" by changing a few options.

Re: Leaked OS 5.0.0.421 For The BlackBerry Bold 9700 [Operating System]

Just in case you guys have not installed it yet, I did it the other day, and the radio feature on this version is horrible. I'm currently running 5.0.0.344 from Telus and I find it to be an extremely good release. See Article -> http://www.fosters.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AI...

A PDF of the letter from Hodes to Sibelius is available for download at http://www.filedropper.com/5192009hhsofficeofth...

To date, I’ve seen only ONE followup -> http://www.topix.com/forum/city/concord-nh/TSSG...

Reader’s Digest version of what’s going on:

( I must preface the following by saying that this is OPINION only, not statements of fact, thus, cutting off opportunity for any downline recourse, however, with minimal digging through YOUR resources, I believe you will come to the same opinions, and, possibly, find the facts. )

As you know, political parties engage in dirty tricks, and fouling of wells upon exit, so as to sabotage the opposition, so they may engage in finger pointing at the next electoral opportunity and, regain their dominant position.

Post election, but, prior to the new administration being sworn in, knowing that public health and oversight were to be priorities, the outgoing administration crafted a sabotage scenario, crippling HHS / OIG oversight in NH as well as several other states, gutting the efficacy of upcoming healthcare reforms.

Most people don’t understand the HUGE amount of public funds consumed by waste, error and outright fraud. Last year alone, over 20 BILLION dollars was recovered by HHS / OIG from investigations of abuse and fraud. .. Little things like a Podiatrist billing Medicare for a surgical procedure, when in fact, an assistant simply provided a pedicure to a patient. This misbill repeated hundreds of times over in this one office alone. The single physician, who magically claims to have been able to see over 100 patients in a day, and bills insurances accordingly. The Nigerian teams of home health care and durable medical equipment scam artists, now relocating to NH from Texas and other heavily scrutinized HHS / OIG venues upon hearing of the impending oversight void, billing Medicare and other insurances for goods and services never delivered.

The EXCUSE given for the closure is to save $$ .. hmm .. The NH office is and has been HEAVILY cash flow positive for years, .. returning almost $10 in recovered funds, for every $1 spent on investigation, facilities and salary. .. By that logic, all the $$ we “waste” in commuting costs to and from the office could be saved by simply not working any more … Yup, that’ll serve us well in the long term.

The claim that NH, VT and Maine investigative matters could be handled by the already overworked Boston office, itself facing a reduction order of Full Time Employees, might be accepted as a valid approach by some, so long as one forgets about the travel time and costs wasted, hauling agents up from Boston and, providing per diems and short term lodging costs, to conduct interviews, searches and perform surveillance in places like Nashua, Concord, North Conway etc … Sound logic .. for non-thinkers.

One last little monetary detail .. the new administration has set aside, and is DELIVERING $300 MILLION dollars Specifically to HHS / OIG so as to EXPAND oversight and investigation to curtail waste, eliminate fraud and RECOVER $$ from and prosecute offenders. OIG is, with the exception of the NASA division, cash flow positive, HHS / OIG particularly so. Shutting down a POSITIVE CASH FLOW source, does not appear to be in the best interest of the public.

The Attorney General’s office should be drafting a letter shortly strongly supporting the need for the NH office of HHS / OIG to remain open, unless HHS Upper admin is successful in dissuading them from doing so.

Sibelius will be in New England this coming week.

It would be an EXCELLENT time to bring this matter before the NH people, and suggest that they contact their representatives, voicing their opinions as to whether we wish to be a pocket of abuse, waste and criminal fraud, w/o personnel to keep our medical costs down by preventing such things, or, intelligent, forward thinking, rational people.

Thank you for taking the time to wade through all this .. I hope you find this worthy of pursuit, and, hope to read of it further in your pages.

Re: You to can have a $600 slide show maker

About time the Mac weenies caught up.

http://www.archive.org/details/tucows_293514_Pr...

Re: Taking the good out of doing good

People are going to criticise for one reason or another, and it really doesn't matter much what your motivations are at the end of the day.

If you feel good because you felt you helped then good for you. How simple a concept: getting oil from plastic. Wonderful’

Anyone can be forgiven for craving the hope that could be gained by the validity of this story. It presents one man and his invention (and his newly-awakened concerns about the environment) which really must be questioned. It's a very emotive and uneasy topic for anyone to take in: there’s very substantial (and scientifically verifiable) evidence that particles of plastic outnumber particles of plankton in very sensitive marine areas in several oceans. It’s understandable to want some good news in light of these undeniable facts.

Both this video and article need clarification and fact checking. Who is Blest Company? Are they controlled or owned by a ‘parent’ company? Has any independent scientific journal, organisation or laboratory confirmed that this machine actually does what the video implies (or, even states in no uncertain terms) that it can do?

It’s more rational than cynical to question this. The use of recylced plastics in the new manufacture of non recyclable plastics is old (and rather sad) news. This requires liquified plastics (some of it may be recycled) for new injection mouldings or for clothing fabrication. It’s needed to make new PVC plumbing pipes, window frames and polartec fleece, amongst other popular items. PVC doesn’t currently have a great environmental record, btw (http://archive.greenpeace.org/toxics/html/conte...).

This video states the plastic ‘oil’ this machine generates can be used for heating or other alternative uses, perhaps even to make petrol or diesel, which may be theoretically possible, but also quite expensive. It’s more profitable, it should have been added, to sell this plastic ‘oil’ on to others to make new plastic, vinyl and fabric products, like tents, clocks, rain gutters, pens and disposable razors. It’s a fact that there are many, many factories all over southeast Asia and China ready and willing to buy this material. Someone should have checked if Blest Company sells this valuable plastic ‘oil’ on to these companies – it’s very likely they do.

If this story’s noble claims are accurate (and it’s not an exaggeration of a common process used to prepare plastics for use in new moulds), why wouldn’t the BBC or any other worldwide new services have reported this story, which ‘broke’ as long ago as 2007? (http://www.japancorp.net/Article.asp?Art_ID=14962) Why is the man in this video only shown with this machine in impoverished countries, and not in The Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Canada, the UK or the US?

Many, many questions are left unanswered – or even asked. Based on what’s written and shown in this video, facts about this machine are sorely lacking. If a stronger case can be made for this company and its product, please do so – or post a retraction of this online recommendation which apparently is offered without the benefit of any credible independent testing or verification. Offer these much-needed details, please – and this may be good news.

Re: Fish Farm Taps Biodiesel From Fish Guts

This is another wonderful example of using the resources that you have instead of dumping them and importing.
