in How to Teach Your Baby to Be Better Than Tiger Woods! on Pro Golf Blog
While I understand why one may believe that a child should start early in whatever area you wish it to be expertese, I question whether or not there is any scientifical merit towards doing so. Have their been any studys to suggest that starting young (less then 1 years old in this case) is beneficial towards a development of a skill, or are we just making the assumption that since Tiger started young it made a profound effect on him as a golfer?

@Aura
I will disagree with your final phrase. Money and risk don't have to be involved as usually the risk is associated with the money and if you find out a way to create a business without spending money (consultation, and yes it's not common but businesses without any investments do exist).
My first website was on a free host so I paid absolutly nothing, yet I still made money on it and it was at no risk to me.

@MoneyDummy
Give it time. Too many people think things come over night and when they wake up in the morning without what they wanted, they give up.
Persistence even when the going gets tough is an absolute necessity.
If you have no good ideas, the ask someone else to make them. Or look online for business ideas. Go to a McDonald's and order something and think, how could I have made that better? It's tough, it isn't easy. We live in the 21st century where everyone is instantly connected to one another. So if you think that all the ideas have been thought of, your not entirely correct. As many have, but that doesn't matter because look at all the fast food joints. Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's all serve generally the same thing. But each is a little different from the other and thats what sets it apart.

Look for those little differences and think how you can set yourself apart from anyone else because those are the things people will remember from you.

IMO :).

@Pamela
Well, try to start with large common languages. English is a must, but English doesn't help you with any other languages. French, Spanish (those two help you with other romantic languages), Italian can be learn't quickly with the knowledge of those 2 especially Spanish. With Russian, learn Greek (if you can read Russian then you can pronounce Greek fairly easily and learn to read Greek quickly), With those two try and tackle languages like Serbian or other languages from that area.
You use your knowledge of one language to build onto another. Tractor in Russian is Tractor in English (pronounced anyway), porque is why in Spanish and Italian. Little bridges like this can help you acquire languages very quickly, you just have to find similarities between each.

Language skills were my best move. I decided to learn as many languages as I could and although I could not master any other then English I learn't to speak in over 5 languages and then developed that number into high numerals. As you start to learn more and more you start to develop ways to quickly acquire new languages fast and efficiently which was my goal.
Once you get the fundamentals down you start to understand languages very quickly, especially when they have the same roots.

I would tell myself to Invest all my money in Google, drop investments out of the banks, study harder, never take some courses. I'd also tell myself to keep honing on more languages because 4 is not enough.
Spend as much time with your friends as possible before they leave, and just live life.

It's all relative to the person doing the action. You may feel that by watching the matrix for the 20th time your wasting time but as long as your learning something new each time, or realizing something about the film that you didn't notice before it's not really wasted. Plus the movie is pretty sweet.
It's up to you to say if the time is wasted.
Btw how do you get that little picture by your name like Micah has?

in this monkey’s gone to heaven on brip blap
I disagree with the statement that it would create a minor effect on the ecosystems. Monkeys are a huge part of the eco system, their loss would be enormous. If we lost something like the galapagos tortoise where it's numbers are already short and it;'s isolated in just one area, then maybe it wouldn't have that much of an effect on the world. Actually it wouldn't have any effect outside of the Galapagos.
Every loss, is a loss. Whether it be big or small, when an species or genus is wiped off this planet, thats that. No turning back. Thats the sad reality of the world.

in are American kids stupid about personal finance? on brip blap
Those are really sad figures, I mean sure not everyone knows but having over 50% of the student population not knowing the correct answer,... sheesh. Well personal finance is not taught in school. The most exposure a student may receive will be maybe an hour or two lecture in there math course which of course is the most interesting class in the world.. Can't blame them too much.

Hunter Nuttall, say if in 2000 gold was at 400, then in 2001 it was 500$ then in 2002 at 600. Well in 2002 it was at it's highest point but each year the cost of it increased, bringing increasing returns each year.

in a quick and easy way to control spending on brip blap
Break everything down to the basics, so you can see exactly where your money goes. Many people have problems with finding out where all their money goes and they don't realize just how much money they do spend buy needless things or paying extra for stuff they don't need.
So it helps a lot with having your expenditures right in front of you in some legible form.
I have also recently started tracking down my expenditures vs. my income since the beginning of this year. You learn a lot by doing so.

in Can I tolerate my son’s religious education? on brip blap
I'd say it does matter, but it's not a bad thing. All in all those religious schools do stay within a guideline and since your coming from you must slightly know what he'll be taught.
I do believe he is too young to start actually being converted and he will probably grow up to be a free thinker if his father and mother are so.
IMO I don't think it would have any negative effect on your child and if it's a good environment for him then go for it.

in 31 Causes of Failure #5: Lack of Self-Discipline on brip blap
What a world it would be if each one of us could self discipline ourselves. Yeah it's quite hard to learn when your an adult and thats why all children should be taught discipline at a early age.
Remember that even if you can't attain a goal through self discipline or if you just keep falling short, you have to keep on pushing yourself to reach that goal or to develop that habit.
A big problem with many people is feeling bad in the morning. Becoming a morning person does not depend on your mood in the morning but rather how you perceive your morning to be the night before. Fall asleep thinking that in the morning, you will get up, you'll make some coffee, you'll have time to enjoy it and then you'll start off with your day.
Instead of waking in the morning and thinking I have to get up now because I'll be late and then I have to go to work and such. Adjust your mindset.

in fat man and the comfort waistband on brip blap
Absolutely agree, changing your mindset is an extremely difficult thing to do. People do jump into diets and get a little something done and then they die off. But this ain't that bad a thing to do, jump in and jump out of diets. Every single time you jump in you gain a victory and maybe you start to see some results. When the results stop showing themselves though people start to lax off there diets and eventually the diets disappear until people see the need to go on them again.
But when you get off a diet you learn what it was like, you know for the next time what it'll be like. Diets are hard to set your mind too as anything else. You have to focus and know your goal and every time you think this is getting me nowhere, look in a mirror and just imagine a change. Imagine what could happen and stay focused.

in 4 Random Ideas To Green Your Business on Keetsa Eco-Friendly and Green Blog
Another great way is to go and talk with other business owners in the area who say they are green. Especially large stores. Ask for a tour or just some general information on how they became green. I've done this with businesses around my area and you do learn a load from them. It's a great way to build some new relationships and learn something at the same time.
