Don't forget that if women's rights activists hadn't spent over a century engaging in "useless" arguments and debates, the constitutional amendment that grants you the right to vote would not exist. If I were you, I would have a little more appreciation for what arguing and debating can achieve.

You're right, it is a great process. It's wonderful to see that elected officials rather than appointed judges are showing their support for the rights of gay couples. And while I personally hope Governor Douglas will be vetoing his way out of a job, that's irrelevant when compared to the big picture - it's only a matter of time before gay couples have equal protection under the law.

I agree. How do you feel about Governor Jim Douglas of Vermont saying that he will veto his state legislature's proposed same-sex marriage bill, despite the overwhelming support it has in both the House and Senate? Would you consider that an example of an activist politician overruling the will of the people? Do you think it's right for one person to stand in the way of what the majority clearly wants?

This is surprising, considering the number of gay people who are shamed by their families and cast out of their social communities as a direct result of Christianity.
Articles like this that portray Christians as some kind of oppressed minority are truly sickening.

Whenever I see the phrase "unwanted same-sex attractions," I can't help but wonder: unwanted by whom? And since the Portland Fellowship says that people shouldn't *want* their same-sex attractions, because doing so would mean embracing a gay identity, then isn't the qualification redundant?

I've never watched Damages, but if that show glorifies sin as much as you say it does, then why hasn't the AFA protested it? And why do you, a Christian, enjoy watching it?

If the Sally Kerns and Pat Robertsons of the world were to stop saying that gays are evil and "a bigger threat to civilization than terrorism," do you think we would see a rise in anti-gay violence, or a decline?

I'm Swedish and I'm honestly PISSED OFF! How the hell can they do this?! This is our pride this is our movie, it's so sick americans just can't be happy getting a blowjob from my government, they also need to remake every non-american good movie. It's like the movie "rec". The original was very, very good, the american remake made me puke.

You said that "covenant friendship relationships," like the one described in Alan's article, leave people feeling lonely and unloved. That is a judgment. You also said, "even though they say life partner they know deep down it's counterfeit." Again, that is a judgment.
If you believe that my claim of feeling fulfilled by my gay relationship is undeniable, why are you skeptical about people who are in celibate "covenant friendships"?

He may own the flat, but he isn't entitkled to the allowance unless he lives in oit, because it isn't his "residence".

What the f*** is wrong with half the morons on here. £14k a year isn't a lot for the finance and running costs of a flat in Westminster. He isn't claiming at his primary residence and he is perfectly entitled to it as an MP from outside London. He may not stay there very often, but it is cheaper than putting MP's up for the night in a London hotel. He may live only 17 miles away, but how many people walk home 17 miles after all the trains have stopped running?

CAPTAIN HOOK!!!!! its not copy right disney made peter pan and disney made potc so then they should have flying people and jack joins hook cause in this movie the piont of is that peters bad and hooks good cause like in the 3 jack and them r actually the bad guys u no and we loo at them good so we should look at hook good and then jack get tinkerbell and steels some pixy dust so he flys and he gives pixy dust 2 his crew and hooks crew and then theres like a hude pirates v.s. flying people that dont grow up IN THE SKY!!!! that would seriously be a good movie!

The Durn Good Grocery's original location was my favorite while growing up. It had a the best candy selection (such as Ferrara Pan), a cool funky building, and owners who actually wanted to be friends with the customers. They would take pictures of all their regulars and put them up on a massive collage on a cork board. It was a special honor when my brother and I got put up there. The only thing that could remotely compare was the Fuji dime store which used to be next door to Tweety and Popp, but I think that closed by the time I was eleven.


I probably don't qualify as a Wallingford old timer, but I lived there from age 0.5 to 19, then again when I was in college, in the former home of the Gypsy Joker motorcycle club near 40th and Ashworth.
