I'd love to give April 40 valium, then dump the rest down his throat. I'm sure he's a real nice guy...

oh really Well PUNISHER you sound real brave behind those words,if you speak that way then you should say who you are and why you have such hatred to "April" as you call him!
Dump the rest of what down his throat?
There was no 40 valium, and all you morons that think you know so much, with all YOUR alias names that YOU use should get your facts straight,or you too can let a 16 year old boy decide what you have done or not done!
Your a complete idiot, you know nothing about what your talking about.

Yes you should be sure,he is a real nice guy! I know you were just making another slam at him,but be brave, come out from behind all your made up names and say who you are.

You dont have a clue what your talking about in this post or any that you have posted...

in Don’t Hassel the Hof, David Hasselhoff on Geek Entertainment TV
Ha! He's been drinking. Onya Hoff! It's subtle, but definite. Watch and listen carefully. Here's a guy trying to be enthusiastic, but his body language and slight slurs tell us that really his mind is in another place.

Another thing - With the 'Hoffspace' thing (or whatever his site is called), when someone promoting their own site is visibly cringing when they say "It's all about bringing people together", it doesn't take a Nostradamus to predict where the site is heading.

Kudos to him, however, for keeping the 'Hoff legend' (tongue in cheek) alive in a tragic Elvis kind of way. Hopefully we won't read about him being found on a toilet somewhere.

@ RIP.

in One bug report to rule them all on Linux Hater's Blog
My little personal experience: I tried Ubuntu 7.10, on a disk with an XP install. I chose the minimum partition size proposed, and the installer poof-crashed before the end, trashing the XP MBR in the process without installing GRUB (deleting the original boot sector long before installing yours is a stroke of genius, but I digress). I cursed, shrugged, recovered the XP install with another PC, and submitted the bug. After a few months of being ignored, a genius wrote to me that I should have included a log, and since I didn't he closed it. Basically he asked me to trash my system a second time on purpose. Make of that what you will.

A couple months later, this came out: http://glyphobet.net/blog/essay/140

>> Who knew that Eric Raymond was just some unix hacker who was full of shit? I did.

I lol'd. With friends/gurus like the gun totin' pagan flute god esr and Stallman, the FOSS scene does not need any enemies.

Hands off the kernel, though. It's the only part in the stack that's actually worth something, and is quite a remarkable software engineering achievement, all things considered. Still not as cool as the NT kernel (which never got, and still does not get the cred it deserves, for some weird reason), but definitely better than the well-tuned architectural abomination that powers OSX. Of course in the warped zealot's mind it's always been perfect since the 0.1 release, but in the real world they gradually improved it, and by now it's really pretty decent. It's already into a lot of hardware, and that will only skyrocket with UMPCs, Android and stuff. Together with Firefox and Apache, I'd put it in the 'rare example of good FOSS' bin.

The real pain starts as soon as you enter userland - abandon all hope, ye who dare. But that'd be preaching to the choir, here.

Sorry, but I think your nickname is spelled wrong, pretty lame, and you have the reading comprehension of a chimpanzee on drugs.

- I'm not talking about drivers
- I'm not talking about IQ distribution in IT
- I'm definitely not talking about supercomputing

all interesting topics, just for another discussion. You haven't addressed any of the points I made, just spewed some pretty average, rehashed FOSS DIY marketing material. Really, you guys are worse than the rabid Apple zealots of the mid '90s.

Again, read that Joel blog post, and all the stuff that's linked within it.. It's pretty awesome.

>> So you hava a needlessly byzantine spec that manages to work cleanly under KernelA but is a total hairball under KernelB.

No ... it works under KernelA because there are smart, paid people working on KernelA, whose first priority is _get it working no matter what_, since _users_ don't care about whose fault it is, just that their computer isn't bootin', their microwave isn't cookin', their car radio is stuck on the boot splashscreen.

read this for a great overview of the subject of specs vs. reality - there is Microsoft bashing, so you'll be able to get thru it: http://www.joelonsoftware.com/items/2008/03/17....

then you can head there: http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tp...

money quote: "[...]I can also point out that when people complain about code bloat in Windows(talking kernel mode here, not apps), much of it is due to having to try to deal with every vender's non-standard implementation(you should see how much hacked code was present in XP just to deal with Sony's f'd up BIOS back in those days)."

celltic_hackr Sorry, but I think you should really call yourself damnwrong.

The reason drivers work in Windows is MS gets to see the code in anything they allow to use the Windows logos. With the source code available making it work becomes a lot easier. It's not that they have smart paid people doing it, it's all about having access to the source code. While, I'll not knock the smart people working at MS, they certainly don't have a lock on smarts or ability. If you really doubt the power of Linux to do it right, take a look at the top 500 super computers. One OS dominates, and it's not MS - which has one lonely machine on the list. In fact Linux has a monopoly on the Top 500 List.

Well that's all I can take of this blog, I have better things to do. Like build my FOSS/HW EV.

Salut!

in Lusers make me laugh ver. 3 on Linux Hater's Blog
BTW, a former MS engineer was commenting on a Rambus thread on Arstechnica a few days ago that Windows contains a ton of crufty, unnecessary (in theory) code just to deal with Sony's older non-standard laptop BIOSes. Zomg, it has to be an elaborate ploy by the evil Japanese corporate empire to sabotage their only OS provider!

Yonah Of course, they pat themselves on the back while shouting “Boycott Foxconn Motherboards”. Uhh, earth to dumbass: Foxconn has been making computer components, outside of just motherboards, for the past 3 decades.

You'd be hard pressed to find any motherboard, gadget, or appliance that doesn't use Foxconn components in them. My Amiga 500's ports? Foxconn.
Anonymous Coward Yes, everyone is ought to get them.

Many Lusers are like walking comic figures. It's as if the portal between the real and the comic world broke up and suck the lusers into the real world.

Their whining is so unreal.

Reminds me of:

A great point, and more than I knew about TCP/IP's birth, to be sure. That's why I hedged my bets by referring to all web technology -- I was specifically thinking of W3C, ISO and MPEG. But you're right that I'm oversimplifying the picture. Even those bodies are influenced and improved by the chaos of the market, like with Microsoft's introduction of the nonstandard XmlHttpRequest Javascript object.
