How in the f*ck can you call this a real blog when your visitors are still commenting on last year's "Pick Me! I'm a fucking idiot!" contest, and you're out in left field tweaking your Firefox for optimal performace.

Ok, because I'm following comments, I've been receiving replies in my inbox and I just have to jump back in here...
Why do we have to go with formula or against formula... some things just seem natural, right and really attention-grabbing no matter how one breaks them down... for example...
"Bye Bye Stomach Cancer! These 3 Enzymes Kick Your Ass!"
Now, someone tell me, which person, suffering from stomach cancer, is not going to open that email or read that post? They can learn about the Aussies in the first paragraph if they're that important.
Let's try another example!

Please, it has no credibility with me. Maybe I don't run around tickling everyone in that incestuous community's balls every week but, IN THE VERY LEAST, I certainly deserved a NUMBER of nominations.

Maybe, if you're lucky, you won't have to delete this - maybe Akismet or Spam Assassin will see the links and do it for you.
But, honestly, I might not be an ass-kisser or golden boy in the SEM community but my rants, raves and alternative commentaries on it definitely deserved inclusion.
Thanks buddy!

in Why I Started Punching Jerks Again on The Blog of Author Tim Ferriss
You missed one reason - pre-emptive strike. There are some people who menace you just to get a read on you for a possible future action. If you can see it coming, and you're sure enough that you're willing to risk having to explain it to a judge, then go with your instinct. The rule of law should guide your actions only if they're also guiding the actions of the guy whose pointing a gun in your face.
"So every morning, you wake up from that part of your shallow existence you accept as "a dream" and, feeling your nothingness dawning on you, you reach for your bottle of social media and keep drinking until all awareness of it is obliterated from your consciousness.
Now, if you'll excuse me, there's a small village to the north I intend to conquer today and I have to go ready my horse."

in Twitter Revisited on Chris Brogan
Chris, your attentiionupgrade widget on the left side freezes things for like 20-30 seconds while it loads...
Anyways, Twitter is revolutionary. I'm going to tell you what you and so many others keep missing out on because you insist that social media is about marketers and businesses asking YOU what you want.
We already know.
You either just don't know that we already know or you are looking at failed and struggling businesses who are desperate enough to try anything.
Like a leaf or sand can highlight the pattern of the wind, Twitter highlights psychological frames. You touched upon it briefly but, it seems, almost by accident. You referred to "gate jumping" but the gate is all in the mind. You would find a greater store of knowledge on this if you called it "frame breaking" or "frame making."
For example, if I meet you on the street. I come through the frame of "stranger" and whatever "stranger" triggers for you, that's what I get for it.
But if I have a friend introduce us, or I am with my friend who is a friendly policeman, then I come through a different frame.
Another example is my nephew hates (school) chop suey, but he loves pasta, beef and sauce... its the same food but "chop suey" reminds him of school lunch.
TWITTER is a plug into the stream of consciousness of 100000s of people. The immediacy of connecting is so exciting that people would meet total strangers if all you said was, "Hey, Twitter Meetup in 25 min at (coffee shop X)" because you come through a frame of "cool!""
But businesses don't have to ask you what you want. Humans, in their mechanical state, are not extraodinary and not difficult to figure out and no amount of drum rattling or whining will change that.

It'd be a shame if you're too uptight to let this through but, and in my honest opinion, a lot of that has to do with vagina. I don't want to take anything away from women bloggers on here but, while I'm sure there are exceptions, I've seen it time and time again that a woman who really shouldn't have beat a LOT of bloggers, never mind a top blogger, ends up through the roof because, plain and simple, men are part dog... or part cow, whatever you prefer.
Women have the advantage when it comes to getting a boob in the door.
If anyone disagrees, let your thoughts be known, but spare the "hear me roar", "you go girl", defiant rhetoric, it's just be wasted. I'm interested in real experience and, hopefully, something verifiable. But I'll take some anecdotal evidence if it's sincere enough.
Btw, if you think my saying what I said was over the top, the fact that you paraded the event around as a battle of the sexes is precisely what precipitated it.

in Marketing is NOT Social Media-Social Media is NOT Marketing on Chris Brogan
CHRIS,
You don't seem to understand marketers yet you suggest that marketers use social media to try to understand you better.
Why? Is that their goal, to be more understanding?
Why don't you tell an alligator, or a tiger that they should try to understand a zebra better when all that holds their interest is satisfying a sense of hunger in their belly?
If you continue suggesting that they consider you differently, then you are asking them to forsake rules that have kept their bellies full and their and, instead, to adopt your rules.
Knowing this, if you want them to change, you have to first change in such a way that they can't ignore and, then, once you have their attention, you have to beat them at their own game...
...and only then can you begin to speak to them of another way.
Only when they are subdued will they become receptive... and that is, IF they're not too far gone.
You have a point in there somewhere, Chris, but you're flailing about a little bit and could use a little more help refining it. Right now, you're speaking to predators in the language of prey.

I thought this was over but was going to post anyways.
But since I actually do have a chance at winning the credits, I just want to say that you should probably just jam them up your backside. If the law of inertia is as true as it's always been, you're probably going to end up giving them to someone who is pretty much just like everybody else's boring, little, ol' self.
But as a PT Barnum act-a-like, I've gotta give you a big thumbs up... cheers!
