Heath, as always you paint a great picture with words. Having known you from our time together at NMSU I think you have described who "These Democrats" are perfectly. Good Posting but a bit scary.

in Obama is rock star material, not presidential timber on The New Mexico Independent
Thomas, Its not that I can't handle the debate but rather that I choose not to engage with someone accused of miss using public trust to the extent that Mr. Foley may have. Perhaps Dan will have plenty of time to start debates when he serves out a lengthy prison sentence but such is yet to be determined. I hate shakers of public confidence Thomas. New Mexico needs altruistic leaders be they liberal, conservative or Martian and yes, I admit maybe I jumped the gun a bit but stories about public corruption strike a cord with me. So, back to the debate. Dan, There are obvious problems with the way that this country has been run by your party for the last 8 years and many reasons why both the office of the President and the nation at large should be looked at in an aggressive scrutinizing manner. Foremost for the last 8 years our office of head of state has been rocked by scandal after scandal. Whether it’s been egregious lies which have caused untold amounts of suffering and death all over the world or $4 gas that particular office is rife with corruption and I think it’s good that Barak is not afraid to say we have a problem there and it needs to be fixed. So what? You can’t handle that we have problems that need to be fixed? You like the good ole boy corruption system? Obviously. You need to take a good look at yourself and who you are before you criticize others who want to change our system for the better. By the way, Ronald Regan was the Devil. He enabled swine like you to lie, cheat and steal from honest hard working Americans. They ought to have fired his corps out of cannon into a sea of raw sewage.

in Lawmaker says ‘unnamed’ insiders snitched to provide facts for lawsuit on The New Mexico Independent
Of course it was a conspiracy but, it was a conspiracy carried out by the public to get rid of three lack luster law makers who had done too little for their respective districts. This sounds like sour grapes to me. These ousted three should look at the real facts and not try to point fingers at George Soros who I am sure has much bigger fish to fry. Let’s take a real look at the needs of these three districts and how they were not met gentleman. Robinson busied himself with raising money for a UNM club sport while his district was plagued by violence, crack and pollution. Taylor whom was Manny Aragon’s successor felt as if he had his district in the bag and didn’t work hard enough to maintain his seat. He therefore lost touch with his constituency and was rightly ousted for someone who was more in touch with the needs of the people and their district. Manny may go to prison James, but as a Senator he never lost touch with the people who elected him and what they needed (Even if he did rip them off in the end). Silva’s defeat surprised me and many others but perhaps he as the other two felt way too comfortable with his position of power. Things change and in at least two of the cases they changed for obvious reasons.

" As we’ve seen lately, if there’s nothing to complain about, liberals will make something up" - I don't think Harold Hobson was making anything up. Your opinions amount to a hill of beans Dan.

in Practice Makes Perfect on TCspeak
I recall a crudely written sign in a small restaurant near RAH, London, some years ago during an international congress; "Please excuse the disturbance, The Salvation Army is in town!"
What a wonderful reminder to salvationists everywhere; practice and perfect being a gentle disturbance daily in Jesus' name!
Blessings!

in Measuring Success on TCspeak
Success has been defined as, the realization of a worthy goal. The problem for many is defining a goal, or settling for one too easily attainable. St. Paul defines it for us all when he writes, "I press on towards the goal, to the prize of God's heavenly calling in Christ Jesus."
Success for the Christian is in pressing on, in the call.
Best, Sven

in Video: Jim Wallis on Jesus and Lou Dobbs on God's Politics
Although I too believe this country needs comprehensive immigration reform, I have to admit that it disturbs me the way Jim Wallis framed his argument at the CFCIR press conference. By making an appeal to lawmakers to pay heed to the "Leviticus immigration policy," he seems to be stooping to the level of some of his political opponents. It seems perfectly acceptable to incorporate themes from one's sacred texts or religious tradition to persuade your fellow adherents to embrace your views, but lobbying Congress to enact national immigration policy based an a few cherry-picked Bible verses strikes me as dangerous precedent. I am sure Rev. Wallis would (justifiably) cry foul if anyone proposed that the United States expand capital punishment on the basis of a "Leviticus homosexuality policy" or a "Leviticus policy on rebellious teenagers."

Listening to your podcast and might have some insight for you in a couple areas:
1) Veritas Backup of a Linux machine. We have set this up at our office, and had a simular struggle. Here are a couple things to check:
a) Check that the password you used in the config file on linux is what you are using to connect to the server. I know, it is obvious, but it is always good to check.
b) Make sure the agent.be process is running on the Linux box. If you reboot the box after installing it, the process might not be configured to start on boot.
c) Most linux distribution come with a software firewall preinstalled and configured. It is called iptables. Not a good practice, but you can turn it off as root by typing: "service iptables stop" as root. Then try the connect again.
Regarding your new opportunity at work. The Intranet sounds like a lot of fun. If you can manage this site, you'll have little problem diving into that project. If you are not familiar with http://www.sourceforge.net, and http://www.freashmeat.net these sites will quickly become one of your bag of tools as you look for the right Open Source groupware product, issue tracking product, etc.
Here are some to look at that I think are good:
http://www.dotproject.net
http://www.issue-tracker.net and http://www.entertrack.com
http://www.opengroupware.org/
You'll find hundreds of other options on the sites above.
Enjoy and nice job.
Sven.
