in New Google Reader “friends” feature sucks… on Scobleizer
Wow. I had no idea this existed until Steve Gilmour shared a comment ftom the comment feed from this post.

I see this as an AWESOME spam tool. Awesome in the bad sense of the word.

I hadn't figured on the lack of OPML, but yes that is nasty. Have you had a look in the back end to see how it handles it (I imagine via the obfuscated windows media database stuff).

And yes to your comment about the way podcasts are treated separately. I like that they are separated from the rest of my library (so they don't play on global shuffle), but hate that I can't playlist them.

Madly enough, the Zune client is quite an amazing podcatcher.
It has per-feed options for how many shows to retain, and also whether to keep them on the device once they have been played.

crafterofcode Very nice! Not enough to convince me to buy a Zune (I'm too happy with my iPod touch), but pretty sweet nonetheless. At least it gives iTunes something to catch up with (I'd really like per-feed options; the global setting in iTunes bites).
Dave Ben, that would be good if being marked as a podcast didn't make the file less usable on the Zune, ie not playlistable and requiring silly extra navigation to get from file to file. Not being able to continuously play podcasts really bites. If they just treated them the same as music on the player, I'd use it. Oh, and the Zune client can't import OPML so someone like me would have to add 150 feeds one at a time. Pretty much a deal breaker for any new tool if it doesn't import OPML.

Yah epoxy is a tad messy. I tend to mix it in spare laundry powder scoops, then break the residue away when it dries. This way I get about 5-10 good uses from a mixing scoop before I have to throw them out.

I was playing Mordheim, aeons ago?

And I say flag it and play more Team Fortress 2!!

How are you gluing the bits together? If you're into glue sniffing I can highly recommend Airsail 5 minute and 30 minute two-part epoxies. Glue something with that stuff and it is NOT coming apart. I say this after landing heavily but happily on my landing gear that was screwed into a shattered mount bunged together with epoxy.

Man I hate embedded flash video. Show me where I can get an RSS feed for this that will load the audio straight onto my iriver, like I can with ALL other podcasts.

Interesting. Looks like you've lit up a firestorm here Robert. No pun intended.

in Firefox on Macs giving people fits on Scobleizer
Not just Macs.

I've recently given up on Firefox on Vista, and grudgingly swapped back to IE7. I was just too damn flakey. I would regularly (like clockwork) freeze up for 20 seconds or so about 10 seconds after loading a new instance. So: open a new window, start browsing, FREEZE, wait wait, ok.

This is after fresh installs of Vista and Firefox. Same thing doesn't happen under XP, but in general I find the 2.0 branch of Firefox to have some nasty quirks.

in Google Reader losing feeds? on Scobleizer
Yeah, I lost my feeds. I thought it was a glitch because I just yesterday consolidated two different google accounts into one (basically imported my feeds into my Gmail login).

So I did a re-import, and they all came back, including read/unread flags.

Very strange.

in If Technorati can beat Google, why can’t Microsoft or Yahoo? on Scobleizer
Yeah I noticed the spam too. Try doing a search on Technorati for posts about "Technorati". Nothing but spam. Google and Bloglines are showing (correctly) a bunch of posts about the new revamp.

MAJOR issue. If Google and Bloglines can work out how to filter the spam blogs, Technorati needs to solve it ASAP.

in Technorati just turned on a bunch of improvements on Scobleizer
Wait! If I search on Technorati for "Technorati", I get a bunch of spam. Google and Bloglines are correctly returning a bunch of posts about the new makeover. What gives?

(This was spamtrashed when I tried to comment on the other post)

I can't see how a 40k MMO will work. You can play an individual character in a MMO right?

Bags not play as an individual IG guardsman with a pistol up against a Wraithlord...

Wow Robert, do you have a brain tumour or something? Seriously? This is some grade-A bullshit stunt that you are pulling: claiming that other bloggers don't do the 'conversation' properly, then crapping all over them without conversing with them yourself.

It's like complaining about not getting a Slashdot submission to the front page, but 100x worse and more reputation-ruining.

Good luck digging yourself out of this one brother.

So could you freeze mixed resin for later use? Or would the moisture in the freezer still set it off?

in Digging on Digg on Scobleizer
This is uncanny. I posted about my annoyance with the Digg main feed just a couple of days ago. Seems there is a bit of a groundswell here.

I suppose Digg would argue that the category feeds are less noisy, but perhaps there is a requirement here for some sort of 'best of the best' Digg feed?

Call me a heathen, but what does one use a 'dice tower' for? And how does it stop dice from sullying your table?

I'm constantly amazed by the level of geekery evident on the internet (in a good way). See you thought you'd plumbed the depths Stu and now you've awoken a whole inner circle of airbrush geeks =)

I myself have been delving into horology, and am learning the finer points of early Japanese automatic watch movements.

Another Bloglines -> Reader convert here. Bloglines may have a problem on their hands.

Reader's mobile support is very different to Bloglines, but after getting used to the river-of-news style, I love Reader mobile.

Damn man. I'm so glad you've moved away from iPowerweb finally. They suck so bad.

I suspect if your domain hadn't expired you'd have a hell of a time wrestling it away from them, so maybe it was a blessing in disguise?
