I know this is annoying advice. I would hate someone to say this to me. But you;ve got to ask a doctor.

he may suggest methods where you change the way you think about the phobia. instead of being scared see it as a challenge. or possibly breathing techniques.

I have a phobia of frogs, seems silly but i do, and unfortunately i have found nothing to help but avoidance. It isnt nice because when it rains I am to scared to go outside and I havent walkedon grass for years but its what works for me.

You may have been a member of the fire brigade, but seriously, you seem to have last touch with the fire service. As a present-day firefighter, I can tell you that "truckies" (search and rescue) firefighters are seperate from engine operations. They are there to rescue occupants during a quick search. Any firefighting operations (extinguishment) would cause searing steam and would endanger the lives of any survivors.

This movie was absolutely great! Before making suppositions about normal behavior in fire stations and other factors, perhaps you could do some actual research, like the movie-makers did. And really, is a little levity (all of the situations you criticize) so bad in a movie?

You seem to be looking for an action only movie while this one is an action-drama. It was gratifying to see how fully Jay Russell was willing to develop his characters.

btw, what is so cookie cutter about... [Spoiler material removed. Ed.] ...(what is it with critics?)

True Christians have a far more noble fountain from whence they descended. We were originally created by the Almighty God - created in His image. We did not have to evolve to a higher state, but from the beginning, were created by God as perfect as humans can be. Even though we fell from our created state of perfection in the first man Adam, our Maker brings us back by His uplifting grace. But atheists, as descendants of the apes, have never and will never reached the level of perfection in which God originally created all mankind.

If atheists were human, and weren’t descendants of the apes, they might be able to perceive the beauty of the existence of God, and might have a chance at receiving God’s grace. But alas, animals don’t have that ability and God has no intention on saving animals.

Long time no see~

우리 어무이도 목욕탕에서 넘어지셔서 한달 동안 깁스하시고 어제 풀었어요. 연락 뜸한 사이 가족들이 여러 일 있었네요. 언니랑 두 석이랑 선배랑 마음 고생 많으셨겠는걸요.

after selling my hc of Braintree 2005 dumptruck I was informed that I was entitled to a refund on the unused portion of my extended warranty.... well guess what....six calls and still no return call from the finance managers so I called the GM. he took my number and said he would get back to me....guess what...I really don`t have to tell you , do I. Well the jokes on them, I`m flying out to the east coast to purchase two new trucks for my business next week and there`s no doubt, the dumbasses have lost my business over what probably amounted to about 500.00 if that. WAKE UP HERB !!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you J. for your quick response. By the way I sold my truck privately and I happen to reside in the southwest at this time. My real problem lies with the fact that they refuse to call me or help settle this matter. As a new customer with 50,000 in my pocket believe me I had no problem getting people to talk to me. I have never treated my customers this way and I`m sure if I did I would someday end up in the unemployment line. By the way I for one don`t think all HC employees are scum but the way I`ve been treated is certainly a reflection on the conpany as a whole and as such they have lost another customer. Thanks again for your reply.

I posted my complaint about HC of Braintree so I think it is only fair that I post this letter of satisfaction. Scott the GM called me back the next day to get the info on my warranty, given only the mileage he told me that he would send me a check for the balance. I wondered just how long it would take and how many times I would have to call to receive my money. Well my wife called me the very next day to tell me that DHL had delivered the check to our home in AZ. Scott actually overnighted our check, and in light of everything that had happened, that is what I call customer service.

I hate to say it , but I believe you hit the nail right on the head. It`s a shame that that some businesses can`t conduct themselves in an honest manner, being an honest man myself I don`t ever think I`ll understand that mindset. I`ve always run my business treating others the way I would want to be treated but then again I`m nowhere as rich as some of these people. Maybe I`m doing the wrong thing but you know what, if thats what it takes, I`d rather be poor. I sleep very well at night. I`d like to thank the people or person who made this site possible because without it I`m sure I`d still be waiting for that phone call. When I get back to the east coast and drop 80,000 for the next two trucks I can only hope the next dealer has the commen sense not to be pennywise and pound foolish. It has been a few days since I have been on here and I must say Russ had a good point. I moved to Bayou View in the 8th grade. I came from a broken home and had been living with my mother outside of McComb MS. To say the least "in the country". I was a fish out of water and needed a friend. Ricky and I had shop together and from the first day I had a friend and was welcomed into the "in crowd". It wasn't long before we were "borrowing" golf carts to joy ride in and skiing every chance we got. We quickly became inseperable and went through some tough times, not making the high school baseball team among many others, but the good times more than made up for it. Like toilet paper rolling said baseball field. We were at each others house so much that Dr. Peden put us both on restriction once. As I look back over the past 25 years I realize we could have gone our seperate ways or grown apart (seperate colleges) and sadly if it had been completely up to me we probably would have. Once you were a friend of Ricky he would work at being your friend, often alot harder than you would. As I read over these postings I think that Ricky is still at work. I can trully say that most of my lifelong friendships were forged with Ricky, and I know that I am a better person for it. I think we should work at maintaining our friendships. I know a memorial golf tournament has been mentioned by many but I haven't heard anything lately. If anyone wants to get that started I would be happy to help. Hope all is well.

I would second Heather's comment about WorldCat.org. This service connects the world's libraries and often will bring about possible LC numbers for books to those who prod it. Even with LC classification you have problems in that different libraries choose to use different cutter tables or use different parts of a cover's details even if they are using the same cutter table. Thru WorldCat you can search by ISBN, see the libraries with the item you are holding onto and pick an LC # from one of the holding libraries who use it over their own classification or Dewey. Warning tho, some library websites link better than others to the OCLC number that ties them to that record.

Before learning about Marc21 records, cataloging software, and other such things my wife and I labored on our own database using a customized Access file exported to HTML every few months. Talk about a PAIN. Mad props on the entry.

Der (sportlich orientierte) Velohändler hier bei mir gleich um die Ecke hat ein original TdF Zeitfahrvelo von Winokurov (Astana/Kazahstan) im Fenster stehen. Schönstes Velo, das ich je gesehen habe. Preis nicht angegeben, aber ich würde mal so um die CHF 25′000 schätzen.

Anekdote zur Seite: Die städtische Sukkulentensammlung hier in Zürich (das sind Kakteen in Treibhäusern) wurde während vielen Jahren mit dem Kühlwasser der Rechenzentren der damaligen Rentenanstalt (heute Swiss Life), der ‘Zürich’ Versicherung und der Schweizer Rück beheizt. Die Kühlwasserschlaufen gingen durch die Treibhäuser, etwa 400 Meter entfernt und dann wieder retour in die Compis bei den Versicherern. Ich weiss nicht, wie’s heute ist, das RZ von der Swiss Life ist jetzt anderswo.

Das klappt eben nie richtig. Ich habe live miterlebt, wie rockgoere ein ganzes Waffenarsenal durch so einen Check (an einem Konzert) durchbrachte. Die hat den Security-Heini nur angelächelt und drin war das Zeug. I enjoy the blog! I am looking forward to your next post around the context of how the second temple religious authorities were using scripture. I am wondering how the Jewish rabbis did, and how the NT writers are similar and different to the different rabbinical traditions of midrash. For instance, the book of Hebrews uses several techniques of midrash, although it is a book unlike most in the NT. Looking forward to reading more.

I would have a hard time calling it sin. Every once in a while I enjoy a good cigar, and think that is ok. While I do not think that chain smoking is sin, I do think it is dumb with the health risks involved, as I have seen first hand in my family and friends what emphysema can do.

This was an interesting article and shows what many who've tried to get a fix on John Calvin's beliefs on a subject have found, viz., that Calvin is hard to pin down since he appears to contradict himself on important issues.

Swan's pastor is correct when he said, "Calvin contradicted himself with comments on Ephesians 2:8-9, and this contradiction is a clear example of why Christians should never follow a fallible man." Clearly a wise pastor.

This brings me to my point. Since it's clear that basing one's argument on Calvin is risky, why doesn't Swan go to the heart of the argument, i.e., the grammar of Eph 2:8-9. This passage teaches clearly that salvation and not faith is the referent to gift. Swan appears to ignore this important, even crux argument. Instead, he goes back to quoting Calvin to support the fact that Calvin didn't really mean what Calvin said directly in addressing this very same grammatical point. Amazing! Swan apparently didn't take to heart the wise counsel of his pastor.

In reading Olson, I was very impressed with his strategy that shows Calvinism to be a deductive theology. Interestingly, one doesn't have to look far to find an illustrative example. Swan provides just that when he quotes White's comments on Calvin's response to Rome's claims in the Potter's Freedom: "nay, the whole man, and everything that he can call his own, is set aside. We must attend to the contrast between God and Man, between grace and works;" and "since Paul excludes man and his utmost ability, — not only from the commencement, but throughout, — from the whole work of obtaining salvation." We suggest that the person who honestly wishes to know where Calvin would stand on the debate today would find these to be the key affirmations, for if Geisler's position is correct, and "anyone can believe," then Calvin's entire position is overthrown. WOULD NOT SUCH A FAITH BE SOMETHING THE MAN COULD "CALL HIS OWN"? CALVIN SAYS IT IS SET ASIDE. WOULD THIS NOT BE PART OF MAN'S "UTMOST ABILITY" ESPECIALLY AT THE VERY "COMMENCEMENT" OF SALVATION"? Paul excludes it from the whole work of obtaining salvation, Calvin teaches.” (Emphasis mine) Notice that White is going way beyond what Calvin SAYS, and telling us what he believes (based on White's Reformed Theology) Calvin MEANT. White hangs his hat on it. If this is not deductive theology, I don't know what else it is.

In fact, I'm always struck by the consistency of Reformed writers in reading their theology into text of scripture. If there were ever a hallmark of a false religion, deductive reasoning is it. I'm also equally struck by the Reformed writer's inability to see it.

If you post any additional argument in the future, I would ask that you pay particular attention to tracing your argument from its inductive roots. If you don't I will and will certainly call you on it.

To an extent more cleanliness is good, but there is increasing evidence that overclean environments confuse our immune systems. Having no pathogens to fight, they start picking on healthy tissues. This may be behind rising rates of asthma, lupus, multiple sclerosis, allergies, etc.

After all, humans and all other organisms evolved in pathogen-rich environments, and developed sophisticated disease-fighting systems that aren't necessarily at home in clean rooms.

Didja ever notice that the kid in school with all the allergies lived in the immaculate house? Which cause to which effect?

Yes it is true that 15 billion could be used to shapen up a city already in UAE or could be used elsewhere but the fact is this is a totally new plan. It is a plan for a city to run completely on solar power. How amazing is that? Its also being paid for by so many people and its something that could convince many other parts of the world to follow if it works. Sure there might be a little slave labor involved but with any of these developments there is going to be underappreciated labor. It would cost way too much if labor was like 10-20 dollars an hour. I doubt the people will be paid too little to survive and keep their families going. This is a breakthrough in technology and you should be excited and happy about it! Who cares about other projects and fixing cities, I want solar! I want to see projects like this happen all over the world. We need to stop using electricity and we need to use the power that we get free, which is the sun and the wind. desalinization is a good thing because it is really the only way they can get water without digging deep deep into the earth. Most oceanic nature lives in other places so I wouldn't be worried about that. Whats to be worried about is that this is an amazing new project that could change the world!

Great wish list! Some thoughts:

1) An old but related write up: Contributor Ranking System

2) This may need to be done by character because a wiki contribution can be as small as just a single word or comma, etc. Some related work here: (Wiki Map)

3) Right click for notes would be convenient, like Excel does for spreadsheet notes. But in wiki these could all be editable pages too (like the discussion page, but mini versions). Another option would be to implement discussion pages by section.

4) I think the wiki-spreadsheet guys, like wikicalc are moving in the same direction. Hopefully their work will be integrated into open source wiki engines soon because tables are a pain now.

5) Would be great if wiki engines had an option to show a small breadcrumb trail automatically. It seems simple enough.

6) Synchronous editing would be awesome. And before that, it'd be nice to just be able to reliably edit different sections simultaneously.

7) So a way to see whats happening across the entire wikisphere in a tag cloud-ish presentation? That would be neat for sure.

I think you'll find there is a difference between launch (i.e. party on Feb 27) and release (i.e. availability sometime at end of 2007) for Windows Server 2008, which should also mean that Viridian should be available before Aug 2008 according to current MS roadmap.

Hmmm... So all homeless people are "thugs"? They may have made some bad choices that resulted in them being homeless, but that doesn't make them thugs. You've never ever made a bad decision in your life. You've never been homeless so you can't possibly be bad, not like those homeless people. They're just wicked "thugs".

My aunt made some bad life choices at one point and became homeless in Texas. She was homeless for months before my mom finally found her in a park. Thank God my mom didn't give up on her and call a "thug", leaving her homeless.

I think it's GREAT that they gave homeless people the chance to vote.

I saw the three-ring binders that are about half the thickness as the one I gave you and wished that I had made your faux MacBook out of one of those.
